- Today I wanted to share our IKEA patio furniture with you! This line from IKEA is apartment friendly and is customizable to any size/shape patio you have. I go in depth into how affordable ikea is and why it offers so much more in terms of out door storage.
We all know storage in an apartment building can be difficult so why not have your patio furniture double as storage?
I have linked the IKEA patio furniture below, we have specifically chose the SOLLERON line from IKEA.
In my opinon IKEA has done a phenomenol job with this line.

Your welcome! I'm so glad this helped! Unfortunately the cushions don't fit in the storage underneath but we just bought the cover from Ikea and our ottoman cushions we put on our couch and cover them all. It's a bit hard to explain but if you watch the beginning of my patio cleaning video you can see me take them out from how is store them for the winter. :)
Thinking about buying this! I’ve read some reviews that the cushions slip down, which is annoying and people need to add Velcro. Have you had this problem?
We haven't personally had this problem with the cushions ever. However you are correct, there is nothing holding the cushion to the frame so maybe there are variables that could make this happen like a person's weight, size or shape of couch (2 seater, 3 seater, corner peice) etc. Hope this helps!

It’s out of stock in Canada now for the one seat piece. Do you think it will be a while before it comes back or is it being discontinued. I’m not sure
Oh that’s too bad! I don’t think it is being discontinued, it’s probably just out of stock for now because it’s finally patio season. I would suggest to keep checking back.
Thanks for the video, what cover do you use for your sollerman furniture?
No worries! The one I use is this Tostero Cover by IKEA www.ikea.com/ca/en/p/tosteroe-cover-for-outdoor-furniture-sofa-black-10427926/ in the 100cmx170cm size, its a bit big but it allows us to put our ottoman cushions under there too which we like.

They are hollow on the inside? Meaning if you store something “in” it, it’s basically lying on the floor? Probably not an issue if you keep the seats stationary, but for my patio I would probably want to move around the seats depending on the situation
There is a plastic panel that goes at the bottom to separate your storage items from the floor however if what ever you are storing is quite heavy then yes it would be difficult move the seats around while they have items inside it.

Have you ever had a hammock on your balcony
No unfortunately not! I have been wanting a hammock for a while but where I live it rains ALOT and if not rain then snow so we only get a couple months of true comfortable outdoor enjoyment so a hammock just isn’t practical outside and would probably get dirty/wet. Also it’s hard to store away in a small apartment :(
How do the interlocking tiles do with the snow/rain? Do they collect a lot of mold or stain the base of the balcony. Lovely setup by the way. I was looking for a similar set up.
The tiles are great, most of the snow and rain I get are what’s blown onto my balcony because most of it is actually covered. But it does get rain and snow on it and usually every year before summer starts I take hot water and pour it over my tiles and give them a good scrub (I have a few video on my channel showing how I clean them). The tiles themselves have not deteriorated at all and are easy to wash!
Can you fit the cushion bottom AND back in each under storage?
That is a great question..I honestly have not tried it. The back cushion will fit in their 100% but the bottom one might be a challenge since I think it’s slightly larger than the storage compartment. I tend to cover everything with a tarp like cover since the storage compartment is not completely weather proof which is why I haven’t tried it.

Not that I know of, we still have ours and use them every year. Easy to clean and has good storage underneath. I would recommend!
Is this basically two separate end peices together?
With Ikea the arms are a separate purchase so we just opted to buy 2 arms instead of 4 if that makes sense. They don’t really sell end pieces ready to go, you can choose how you want to configure it.
How many boxes of tiles need you need for the patio?
Honestly it’s been so long that I don’t remember but if you measure your patio and then look up the measurements for each tile, you should be able to guesstimate how many boxes you’ll need. Also any unopened boxes you can return :)

Which color cushion did you go with? Is that white or beige?
The cushion color we have is beige. I don’t believe they had a white option when we bought this.

It's much cheaper than something we were thinking about purchasing from athome store and the fact that it has storage a huge plus!. I was trying to choose between white and beige. We decided to go with beige. Thanks again.

always wonder if they get wet and rot ?
The furniture on my balcony does get wet from time to time. It does not rot when wet. The material of the furniture looks like it might be coated with something that protects it when wet because it seems to repel water droplets. Hope this helps!
So, during winter ; you just leave them outside
Yes! We have a cover that we put over them. Also just to note my balcony is covered right to the railing so no direct rain/snow fall lands on these :)
What large rubber maid container
Doesn't specifically have to be rubbermaid but the dimensions are 22x15 ¼x11 " or 12 gallons. Ikea also has a bin with these dimensions named SAMLA. Sterlite and other brands also make clear storage bins like this. Hope this helps :)
How is the quality on those ikea cushions?
I really like them, the square cushions for the seat portion have a good level of firmness so you feel supported while sitting. The rectangle back rest cushions are slighty softer but still full so they feel quite luxurious to lean back on! Hope this helps :)
I have cheaper Ikea cushions and they are surprisingly good. They are called kuddar. We used Jutholmen instead because Sollerön was out so we could not buy it (high sales before summer). We are very pleased. But the storage in Sollerön is the only thing that we would like to have that Jutholmen did not provide. That part is brilliant.

Aw yeah :( keep an eye out for ikea sales and also try to see if maybe you can find them on Facebook marketplace? Everything is so easy to clean (cushion covers go in the laundry) you could make it look brand new again!

Where is the rug from
I unfortunately bought that rug so long ago and I believe it was from the real Canadian super store. But in my other patio deep cleaning video I have linked a few similar rugs there, there might be something you like! :)
