20 years ago we drove the “Big Jeep”. Long arm suspension , 35” tire, lockers and low gears. After awhile the fun and challenge of off roading lost its luster. When I stepped into my buddies Manuel TJ Sport on 31/10.5 15”s I had more fun on small simple obstacles than driving the Hammers on my built rig. We went to the Jeep Adventure Academy in Hollister Hills. My wife did all the driving in our stock Willys Ecodiesel. Amazing how capable the vehicle is.
Recognizing that I am a newbie, however I’ve watched lots of Wheeling content and I have to say that’s the most impressive display of skill that I have seen. I’ve heard it say that equipment is a crutch for skill and you certainly demonstrated that.
Just purchased my first Wrangler. A new Willys with v6, auto, and 35's. Being new to wheelin', it was very informative to see a Sport go places I would not even consider. Picked up some pointers with ledges higher than a front bumper and the ledge on steep slop like that on "graduation hill." Still, with my Willys, I would be taking all the by-passes. Also, thanks for the links to tools and equipment.
I love my Gladiator but sometimes I get the itch for a basic 2 door Wrangler and this didn't do me any favors. Sometimes simple is fun. No big money coilover kit, no fancy beadlock wheels and several thousand in tires, just simplicity and practicality. Obviously has it's limitations but what doesn't at some point? Amazing work on the video as always Eddie and Cindy.
The beauty of the gladiator is driving it to the trail, on the trail and back. With a simple two door, you’ll quickly want to tow it… and every trip will become either off-road or normal vacation :)
The articulation from even a basic jeep like pipi is kind of insane! It really puts what even a wrangler sport can do in perspective. Ngl I am shocked and impressed and now I want one. Lmao
This was one of the best videos I have seen. Love the bone stock manual 2 door and reasonable trail. I really love the looks and amazing capability of the “fully built” jeeps, but to me this showcased just how much a regular wrangler can do with a good team working through the obstacles without lockers, automatic trans, AT tires or even the factory LSD. This is the way.
Jesus! One of the most amazing videos! Basic newer wrangler with soooo little done and bro… you did it. I have to say this is my fav video to date!!! PS: your shots and editing and music are just… Chef’s kiss!!!
Probably the best content video ive seen on off roading Truly tired if all the super build videos. Awesome to see a stock daily driver jeep tearing it up. .
You did a very good job. This is an excellent video for my two sons that bought jeeps and are starting to 4-wheel. I have been off-roading myself for 30 years but don't have the patience that you exude in this video. Great job, I sent this video to both my sons that are going to offer this weekend.
Thank you for making this video and showing that it is possible to trial ride in a stock jeep. I agree with the post, that there aren't enough videos showing how to for beginners in a stock jeep. My wife and I just purchased our first jeep last year and are looking at upgrades. This video is very helpful for a beginner like me. Again thank you.
That was me day 1 out the dealership. Video should've been called "Carnage" 😖 You guys are great drivers! Thanks for all the tips and taking the time to make this video. Found all the info valuable.
I remember watching this video about a month after ordering my '22 Willys Sport 2 door. It only had two options: tow package and A/C. This video gave me confidence that I could do a fair bit of off-roading here in New Hampshire. After wheeling it all summer with a local Jeep club, I'm here to report that it was more than up what this area has to offer. Mud, water crossings, loose rock, ledges, up or down steep grades. It's been a blast. Thanks again for the Pippy series.
WOW. I am super impressed with Pippi! This is by far the. Best. Off-road video I can recall ever watching. At least from the perspective of what a stock base Wrangler is capable of. Sorry TFL, the bar has been raised, the gauntlet. Thrown. Down.
Thank you for posting this video and all the other videos you have posted!! I am a new Wrangler owner and do not have a community to Jeep with and I have learned so much from you! Thank you! Keep them coming please!
Absolutely amazing video. This is way more informative and entertaining than watching mega built rigs. I’ve always been interested in how much a stock vehicle can do, which is way more than most will ever do anyway. I can’t believe those street tires didn’t pop. Love it!
I realize this video has been out for a while but I just came across it. Yes it was cring-worthy at times but I was blown away. I'm watching it thinking there is NO way he's going to be able to do that...but you did. In a stock Sport JL manual! Extremely well done and an awesome way to show everything a completely stock Jeep can do. Thanks!
This has been a great series so far! New Jeep owners would be better served to spend their money on gas and time on the trails than the latest "parking lot hero" accessories. Seen several people spend a few thousand dollars on lift, wheels and tires only to realize a Jeep isn't for them. Always good to see Ripley!
@@wayalife question. We bought a 2020 keep gladiator, and it appears to have a rough country suspension. The truck looks lifted but don’t know how many inches it was. I tried calling rough country but they needed the serial number of the shocks. Would you happen to know how to figure this out. Plus we added 18 inch black rhinos on 35s. Thank you and look forward to your response.
@@coupleinarizona8900 I am sorry but if Rough Country couldn't help out, I'm not sure how I could. If you're just running 35's, I would have to guess a 2-2.5" lift at most.
Hats off!! In this short video, you showed all the fundamentals of off-roading for newbies. Airing down, swaybar disconnect, taking the right line, deciding when to take a by-pass, seeking help. But, more importantly, you demonstrated that newbies can off-road with a stock Wrangler (I have a JL Willys) without dropping thousands of dollars on gear. Thank you. How can I reach out to you for learning more one to one?
Really enjoyed your vid. I think I am glad I just purchased an A-Transmission. It took skill to do what you just showed us. I cried a little with your scrapes. Keep up the vids.
Eddie I really appreciate the passion and work you and Cindy put into these videos! Thank you! You and Cindy are an awesome couple wheeling the Jeep’s!
So good to see how a stock JL and probably Jk, TJ , can rock crawl without lifts, lockers, big tyre's etc.. It's all about driver control and picking the correct line. Well done.
Have owned my 2012 sport 2 door manual since brand new. I bought a set of used rubicon wheels off of Craigslist a year later and I've never felt the need to modify anything else since. It still amazes me what my jeep can do.
Love it. From a manual JLU owner. My Sort JLU manual was totaled by a red light running F150. I upgraded to a JLUR Manual. God willing I will keep this Jeep to my end. I wouldn’t trade my 6 speed for any amount of auto gears. Great video. Sometimes we stall but , we keep on wheeling.
Oh well a few scratches, but damn even a stock jeep can wheel- to a limit! Your built rig just rolls through barely breaking a sweat. Good stuff Wayalife. Cheers. ( now suspension, tires, some hardware) it never ends!
Yes, but look at what actually got scratched, his 1/2 price Craig's List rock guards and maybe his stock rims? This goes to show the stock TJ could do the job with tires you can live with on the street and get great gas mileage with too. Plus, just like he got his used "new take-off" rock guard from a Rubicon owner who no doubt took it off to replace it with some gnarly rock rails, you can also buy all those "new take-off" wheel and tire packages from all those Rubicon & Willys owners on Craig's List on the cheap and then Pippy would be unstoppable and have a second set of "hiking shoes" for off-roading. ... Like their dog does. Loved that video clip BTW when the dog tried on his rubber boots!
One viewer, Fred M. said he would never have tried some of those obstacles himself due to lack of skill. Me too. At one point as you were planning your line for some scary rocks, for a brief second I saw that there was enough room to drive around the obstacle! An even better line? LOL. But, by the end of the vid I saw that most of the obstacles had a convenient bypass. (there is nothing like these trails that is not private land where I live) We are grateful to have Waylife videos to show us what can be done in the stock 2 door TJ instead of the newbie carnage that could happen when we try to answer the question ourselves! But that is fun for many folks that knowingly choose not to use the bypass. They are not on their way to a campsite, I see that those rocks ARE the destination!
We're glad that you enjoyed our video and yes, most of the hardest obstacles all had bypasses. We were purposefully taking them to show people like yourself that it can be done and in a totally bone stock 2-door Sport. 😎
Another great video for those of us that are occasional off roaders. Because I only began following your channel a short while ago, I'm going back to the beginning. Echo the sentiments about Cindy's off roading abilities. She can trail boss for us anytime!
My wife and I lived in the Mountain West from 1982 to 2007 during which time we bought three new 4WD vehicles and a few used ones. Each of the three new ones had list prices under $19,000, manual transmissions, standard steel wheels, factory skid plates and recovery points and open differentials. None of them were lifted and we used 235/75R15 tires on all three of the ones we bought new. We drove those three vehicles on about 200 camping and picnic trips to more than 100 different locations, often using primitive (unimproved) or badly neglected and rutted roads to places many miles from the nearest paved roads. In 2008, our daughter totaled the last of those three vehicles so I’ve had to content myself with watching videos of other people driving 4WD vehicles. I think people with little or no 4WD experience would learn more useful information (and perhaps gain more inspiration) from watching this video than from watching any of the other dozens of videos I’ve seen so far - maybe even more than watching ALL of the other videos I’ve seen so far.
I'm sorry to hear you no longer have a 4WD but happy to hear you found this video of our to be beneficial to others. I hope that you are able to get back out on the trail someday soon.
Just bought a 4-door Wrangler Sahara 2019 and can't wait to do something as awesome as this. Amazing video, loved the delivery and all the tips. Really well-edited as well. You've earnt a new subscriber in me!
Used to have a 1997 TJ, loved it!! That was an excellent demonstration of the capabilities and limitations of stock vs. modified-nice job; very well made video! The biggest takeaway I received is how much of an advantage having an automatic is while off-roading! Wheels down!
I also noticed that every time you took a less than optimal line it was only because you were fighting the stick/clutch and had less than smooth throttle modulation. (You are definitely an expert and definitely modest about it) You obviously have a lot of Jeep toys with manuals in your stable and I'll bet some of those vintage ones are manuals. I'm wondering why you thought the stick would be better than the "stock" automatic for Pippy? I love manuals for classic road cars & sports cars (& I live in an area with big city traffic issues, where slow, stop & go with my manuals suck) but for low speed and/or off-road driving?? How can the manual be a benefit to you guys for Pippy?
Love this. I took my ‘14 JK sport 2 door on Black Bear, Ophir, Imogene and some others in the loop with only a mild 1.5” Teraflex performance leveling kit and stock size street tires. It did fine and I had no trouble at all.
This was a awesome video it still goes to show you how capable a bone stock wrangler is . I just ordered a 2022 Rubicon with the extreme recon package the v6 e torque with the 4.56 axle . First time ever getting a automatic Jeep , I have been driving manual transmissions all my life. I hope the automatic does well off road . When I am in 4 low do I put it into drive ? And what is the correct way to go down a steep hill when you are in 4 low with the automatic please advise thanks
So happy to hear you enjoyed our video and congratulations to you on your soon to be new Jeep. What you ordered is outstanding and really, there's no way you could build the same thing with aftermarket parts for less. As far as the automatic goes, I think you're gonna find that wheeling it is like cheating. I love manuals but if I'm totally honest with myself, EVERYTHING is easier with an auto. When you shift into 4LO, you need to be rolling about 1-3 mph and then shift into neutral before pulling the t-case shifter down. As far as descending steep hills, just put the transmission in manual mode and whatever low gear you feel is needed. It's just that easy.
DUDE!!!!! I've been waiting to see those new NITTO 38's on the JLU in action. I can't wait to get a set on my jeep. I'm assuming you'll do another video on just those tires and Jet. Great video, I noticed no lockers being used in the V-notch. Awesome to see the capabilities of our JL's in action and makes me appreciate my auto trans. Lol!. God bless you both. I hope to wheel with you guys when we make it out west next year. I'd love to join an event with you guys leading the way. You're an inspiration not only in the jeep but on the footage and editing and channel in general.
Thank you. We're truly humbled by your kind words and so happy to hear you enjoyed our video. Regarding the 38's, yes, we'll do a review on them soon. As far as no lockers being used goes, you really can't use them or at least fronts in the V-notch as you wouldn't be able to steer. Be great to meet and wheel with you some day.

Happy to hear you enjoyed the video
I love my Gladiator but sometimes I get the itch for a basic 2 door Wrangler and this didn't do me any favors. Sometimes simple is fun. No big money coilover kit, no fancy beadlock wheels and several thousand in tires, just simplicity and practicality. Obviously has it's limitations but what doesn't at some point?
Amazing work on the video as always Eddie and Cindy.
Thank you. We're happy to hear you enjoyed our video and couldn't agree more with you.
Lmao
LOL - glad you enjoyed our video and you really should get one :)
Happy to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
Jesus! One of the most amazing videos! Basic newer wrangler with soooo little done and bro… you did it. I have to say this is my fav video to date!!! PS: your shots and editing and music are just… Chef’s kiss!!!
We're truly humbled to hear you say as much and glad to know you enjoyed our video. 😎
Probably the best content video ive seen on off roading
Truly tired if all the super build videos. Awesome to see a stock daily driver jeep tearing it up. .
Happy to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
Nice! I love that your dog is sleeping in the back through the obstacles.
LOL - glad you enjoyed the video :)
Well done!! A stock Jeep, a good eye & common sense goes a long way…….miles of experience helps too! You made it look so easy. Loved it!
LOL - Thank you. We're happy to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
This is actually real off roading. And this is proper skill. Shows it can be done with a stock jeep if you know how to do it
Glad you enjoyed the video and yes, a stock Jeep is plenty capable right out of the box.
Awesome! Congratulations to you and your wife on your new Jeep and we're so happy to hear that our videos are helpful to you 😎
Love getting that Wayalife video notification! Thanks Cindy and Eddie!
LOL - so glad to hear it. Thank you.
I've run a stock JK 2dr sport for over a dozen years and still learned something new from this. Thanks and Subbed!
Awesome! Glad you enjoyed the video :)
That was me day 1 out the dealership. Video should've been called "Carnage" 😖
You guys are great drivers! Thanks for all the tips and taking the time to make this video. Found all the info valuable.
Try removing those bolts in the northeast…lol rust sets in quick. If I heard the metal mashing on my Jeep I would freak out. Great video!
Finally someone showing what a bone stock Sport can do! Great video!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed seeing this :)
Awesome! So glad to hear you're enjoy our Pippi Project and that you're having a great time in your Jeep!
WOW. I am super impressed with Pippi! This is by far the. Best. Off-road video I can recall ever watching. At least from the perspective of what a stock base Wrangler is capable of. Sorry TFL, the bar has been raised, the gauntlet. Thrown. Down.
Thank you. We're truly flattered that you would say as much.
Thank you for posting this video and all the other videos you have posted!! I am a new Wrangler owner and do not have a community to Jeep with and I have learned so much from you! Thank you! Keep them coming please!
Really happy to hear you enjoy our videos! If you're interested, we have a great online community of Jeepers over on wayalife.com :)
@@wayalife thank you! I will check it out!!
Absolutely amazing video. This is way more informative and entertaining than watching mega built rigs. I’ve always been interested in how much a stock vehicle can do, which is way more than most will ever do anyway. I can’t believe those street tires didn’t pop. Love it!
Thank you. We're so happy to hear you found our video to be informative and entertaining. 😎
Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Awesome! Happy to hear you've been enjoying our Pippi Project and of course, Ripley too 😎
What a humble gentleman. Thanks you kindly sir for your knowledge.
Happy to hear you found our video to be informative.
@@wayalife thanks you and be safe.
Thank you, we're so happy to hear you were able to find our video to be helpful to you. I can always be reached on our WAYALIFE.com forum. :)
Hello from Brazil, I'm amazed by your simplicity and ease of tips. Nothing fancy, instead all really useful.
Thank you very much!
Great video as usual! Thank you for spelling out your thoughts so we can all learn from your experience!
Thank you. We're so glad you found our video and my silly thoughts to be helpful 😊
Really enjoyed your vid. I think I am glad I just purchased an A-Transmission. It took skill to do what you just showed us. I cried a little with your scrapes. Keep up the vids.
LOL - glad you enjoyed the video and yes, an auto is much better for this kind of stuff.
This video is absolutely awesome! Thank you for showing us how good the most basic model can rip on pretty gnarly stuff
Glad you liked it! 😎
I am amazed at what you did in this stock Jeep. Thank you for sharing.
Happy to hear you enjoyed seeing what a stock Jeep can do 👍
This was an awesome video. I live in Florida so we don’t have large rocks and this is the closest I can get onto an off-road adventure. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This makes me feel better about wheeling my manuals! I have to manual wranglers and I am terrified to try the rocks!
It's a challenge but it clearly, it can be done. Just try not to worry about stalling and take your time.
Eddie I really appreciate the passion and work you and Cindy put into these videos! Thank you! You and Cindy are an awesome couple wheeling the Jeep’s!
Why thank you. We're truly flattered to hear you say as much and happy to hear you enjoy our videos. 😊
Love the content of vids Pippi brings.
Good foundation of basics is paramount to being better at anything.
Awesome. Glad to hear you can appreciate our videos of Pippi.
So good to see how a stock JL and probably Jk, TJ , can rock crawl without lifts, lockers, big tyre's etc..
It's all about driver control and picking the correct line. Well done.
Thank you. We're glad that we could share this with you and that you enjoyed it.
Great stuff, really digging these intro/basics videos with pippi 😎
Awesome! We're so glad to hear you're enjoying our Pippi videos 😎
Have owned my 2012 sport 2 door manual since brand new. I bought a set of used rubicon wheels off of Craigslist a year later and I've never felt the need to modify anything else since. It still amazes me what my jeep can do.
They really are amazing just as is 👍
As I have a 2 dr JL manual sport this was awesome to see what it is capable of. Now I am ready for winter snow lol lol. Thank you for a great video!
Awesome! Glad to see another out there with a 2-door and manual and that you enjoyed our video 👍
Sorry to hear about your Jeep getting totalled but glad you were able to get it replaced!
Oh well a few scratches, but damn even a stock jeep can wheel- to a limit! Your built rig just rolls through barely breaking a sweat. Good stuff Wayalife. Cheers. ( now suspension, tires, some hardware) it never ends!
LOL - oh yeah, it's more of a challenge stock but a lot of fun :)
That was a great video as for me I just have 35s and a lift but no lockers. Thanks
So glad that you enjoyed our video 😎
Another great video for those of us that are occasional off roaders. Because I only began following your channel a short while ago, I'm going back to the beginning. Echo the sentiments about Cindy's off roading abilities. She can trail boss for us anytime!
Thank you! We're happy to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
Wow, really impressive on what that stock JL can do!
Jeep really has done a great job with their Wrangler. The traction control on them is amazing.
🔥💯 Thoroughly impressed with the bone stock spec. Watching it on the trail with street tires…PRICELESS!! Another gem 💎 of a video. 🇺🇸😎
Awesome! So glad you enjoyed our video 😎
Just bought a 4-door Wrangler Sahara 2019 and can't wait to do something as awesome as this. Amazing video, loved the delivery and all the tips. Really well-edited as well. You've earnt a new subscriber in me!
We're flattered to hear you say as much, glad you enjoyed the video and appreciate the sub 😎
Impressive run through the canyon! Always enjoy watching what these Jeeps can do whether built or stock!
Glad you enjoyed it 😎
The true champion of this video is Pippy the JL actually is a really well designed jeep I have to say I agree with him on the trac cntl as well
Couldn't agree with you more. 😎
Used to have a 1997 TJ, loved it!! That was an excellent demonstration of the capabilities and limitations of stock vs. modified-nice job; very well made video!
The biggest takeaway I received is how much of an advantage having an automatic is while off-roading! Wheels down!
Thank you. We're happy that you enjoyed the video and yes, as much as I enjoy driving a manual, an automatic is better off road.
The amount of effort you put into the videos really shines through. Looking forward to the next video!
Thank you. We're happy to hear you can appreciate the amount of work we put into making our videos. 😎
Great job PIPPI! Man, that sick gave you fits. Great video you two. Thanks for sharing 🤙🏼
LOL - it's a challenge for sure. Glad you enjoyed the video 😎
Awesome!
@@wayalife Thank you for getting back to me I will probably not get it until some time next year
I was introduced to last chance canyon by your videos. I love it. I have run it twice now and had a blast.
Glad you enjoy it!
Awesome video! So cool to see a stock JL take on some rock crawling and do really well. Thanks for the lesson 🙂
Happy to hear you enjoyed our video 😎
Thanks for letting me live vicariously through y’all videos. Always a good time
Happy that we can share all this with you :)
Amazing! I was just recommended this video, I’m hooked!
Why thank you. So glad you enjoyed it! 😎
Your Wife, is a Total BADASS at off-roading!!
LOL - she is a driver for sure.
I absolutely love your editing style. The unpacking/unboxing clips are fun to watch and the sound edits and music are so entertaining.
Great job and informative content.
Humble yet knowledgeable.
Thank you! We're so happy that you enjoy our videos 😎
Excellent vid. Thank you. Been waiting for this one. Love seeing the base platform of the sport performing in the rocks. Very fun! Git along little doggies.
Thank you. So glad you enjoyed it 😎
