Yup. Some dog breeds really need experienced owners & a lot of training and physical and mental exercise & stimulation. That Cane Corso they’ve got on set is such a sweetheart - I would love to have a dog like that but I know I’m not the right owner for one.
I believe this whole heartedly. We've always had German Shepherd Dogs. I believe it's about "training" the children to act correctly around dogs as well x
As it's owner said, this one came from Bulgaria. You can also see cane corsos with normal long tail and (rather adorable) big uncrowded ears that were bred in this country.
However I do disagree that it’s ALWAYS the owners. If that was the case, responsible owners wouldn’t ever end up with dogs with behavioural issues, but they do. Dogs are not blank slates- they have genetic predispositions, either through years of intentional line breeding to hone certain traits, or due to direct parental anomalies. Aggression can be genetic - the same way friendliness can be.
That’s the absolute truth, many dog breeders say their dogs are all wonderfully tempered and consequently blame the owner when their dogs show aggressive tendencies, totally disregarding the fact that genetics play a big part in how their pups turn out. It’s the breeders cop out to blame the owner when things go wrong with the temperament of their dogs.
@@doffchitty1875 honestly I don’t feel the blame can be pointed in any one direction, usually it’s a cocktail of multiple bad things combined that results in attacks, for example. A badly bred dog + owner who has more trust than they should because they don’t understand dog behaviour well enough + a trigger for a behaviour (potentially after the dog’s warning signals have been ignored for a lengthy period of time) may = attack. I really wish they’d bring in dog licensing; it works in Germany!

What a great owner! I'm sure people will stereotype him due to his appearance but he knows exactly what he's talking about and is a perfectly responsible dog owner. Bravo.
Good owner lovely dog. Important to note that the Cane Corso and South African Boerboel are mastiffs and direct descendants of the ancient molosser. They are basically guardian breeds and will defend their property and families to the death. When well breed, well trained and socialised they are confident dogs that are unlikely to initiate a fight with other dogs unless they are both intact males of a similar stature. A dog like this requires an experienced owner who has the time to exercise, socialise and train the dog. They also require a good sized garden and an owner that can afford the substantial amount of money required to feed and look after a dog of this size. The issue with the XL Bully is that it is essentially a terrier crossed with a mastiff. If you cross a terrier with a mastiff you get the ultra high prey drive and tenacity of the terrier mixed with the power, size, bite force and high pain threshold of a mastiff. Put back street breeders and irresponsible owners into the mix and you have a problem.
Neither should XL Bullies, because it's NOT the dog, it's the owner! Not being aggro towards you, just emphasizing my point as so many people don't understand that.

I once met a Cane Corso puppy on a train who was travelling to her forever home. Never met the breed before but instantly fell in love with how sweet she was. Maybe one day I will own one, but certainly not ready yet. I really hope they’re not banned! The owners are definitely to blame.

For every macho muscle man on social media with a scary looking Cane Corso, their is a normal family with quite parents in normal jobs with normal kids and a cane Corso. When the first dangerous dogs legislation banning certain breeds of dogs came along (1980s?), it had been rushed through after a public outcry because of high profile media coverage of attacks involving children. Rushed legislation never makes good law. Tacking on new breeds doesn't make it work better. There's an irresponsible dog owner near me. None of his dogs are banned breeds, but Royal Mail won't deliver to him, people avoid walking past his gate and he's trained those dogs to be aggressive. He's the one that should be banned from owning dogs. I think all dogs should be microchipped, registered and owners should have compulsory insurance in case their dogs attack other animals or people.
John is an amazing dog owner and Scott's absolutely right, they're looking once again to find a scapegoat breed to blame for dog attacks. When I was a child, the wonderful GSD breed was hated and looked down on, then in the eighties and nineties, Rottweilers, then Staffies and so on. Vito is a gorgeous dog!
There's a lot of dogs that have historically been used to hunt. Golden retrievers? Greyhounds? A lot that have historically been used to protect people. Dalmatians, german shepherds. Shall we ban all big dogs? When I take my big dog for a walk all he cares about is smelling the ground. He doesn't even bark. All that matters is how responsible an owner is. If a few bad people take advantage of a breed and use them for hunting, that's the fault of the people surely?
Licence all owners and breeders . Any responsible owner would happily do a training course to gain a licence . Similar with breeders . Why do we ban everything ? Educate people and train people ! Our governments past and present, will do everything to make things so complicated.
It's because they're given to people who have to share gardens with them in social housing which is not safe as the cane corsos are territorial and these dogs won't understand that they have to share areas with neighbours etc and will simply try to guard the owner. Neighbours being put at risk as these are guard dogs. There should be a law that states that these dogs should not be allowed to share garden areas etc, should have enclosed gardens, and should not be left unsupervised. I love these dogs but it is true that they should be contained in a safe and secure area and on leads etc while on walks. They are powerful and territorial and I have come close to being bitten by one.
1970s and 1980s the German Shepard 1980s and 1990s the Rottweiler, 1990s and 2000s the Staffordshire Bull Terrier 2010s Mastiff breeds 2020s XL Bullies 2025 Cane Corso. Remember people the first full face transplant was the result of a Labrador attacking a French women. Any dog can be a dangerous dog, not just the breeds the press and government pick. Just like the guest with a shaved head, neck tattoos and a big dog shouldn’t be judged or automatically assumed he’s a white racist, we should put judge a dog by its breed. Well done to the guest!
Ridiculous. Imagine having a loaded gun around a child. The child curiously plays with it and pulls the trigger one day, hurting someone or themselves Would we say "oh we need to teach kids not to play with guns around the house" or would we..just not keep guns around frickin kids? These dogs are just that. Loaded weapons that can misfire at any moment and have devastating effects. Nobody who loves their children would expose them to such risk
These dogs? Did you know a French Bulldog has a bite on average of 210 PSI. What of German shepards, dobs etc etc 😂 do you even know what a Presa Canario is or a Boerboel? 😂 You 🔔 end.

Yeah lets Ban all dogs shall we, then when we are done with dogs we'll move on to cats. These people that are looking to ban these Beautiful Creatures need to be banned from having any sort of public opinions.
So they bring on an out of shape, overweight cane corse. Try looking up one thats not been eating kibble its whole life. A proper cane corso is alert and can be dangerous if not socialised properly, They are a working line, protection dog, and should be used as such. A great breed, and very loyal.
It is what I said for a very long and the owner John said It is the Owners responsibility to Train any size dog but also it is down to the owner to treat the animal in a respectful way so when they take them out, the animals are socialised are not afraid of the owners and listen And thank you for saying the truth.

Lovely dog and i agreed with everything the owner said, he was spot on, especially about children! It has always made my blood boil that the dog automatically gets the blame, and can even be put down as a result of it! When some little brat could of tried to stick a pencil in the dogs eye, anything really, how would you react if someone did that to you?? This guy is fantastic, and sensible and i personally have never met a vicious Cane Corso, always been big softies! Finally just want to add it was lovely seeing Kat fuss over this precious fur baby, unlike the very fake Holly who would never even dare touch any of the beautiful animals that were brought in, used to wind me the f up!! How can you call yourself an animal lover and ever resist fussing over these beauties, whatever type of animal it is!! Good job Kat and Ben, way better than the other 2!!
This breed has been going for years my grandad had one as a child best companions to have. Also so what was the reason for this breed attacking they do not attack for no reason
XL was never a recognised breed in the uk just a type. That's why in lockdown when puppy prices exploded you had every Brooklyn, Tyler and Chantelle crossing any big bully type dog with anything to make a quick buck. And people lapped it up. They stuck merle in for more money, (and all the behavioural abnormalities associated with it). Merle is a fault in America. Half the XLs advertised in the UK at the end simply weren't. Just poorly bred Bann dogs. KC lineage might have actually saved a lot of them. Idiots with no clue jumping on the image killed so many innocent and beautiful dogs. Bring back licenses, let good owners and breeders do their thing for the right reasons and the chancers and clueless fail. License for ownership and a more costly one for breeding. Fund the mess bad breeders and owners leave behind.
I agree. I have been bitten by a chocolate Labrador, I have been bitten by a Shih Tzu and I was bitten five times simultaneously by a Chihuahua. People assume that little dogs are cute and innocent and that large, foreboding looking dogs are dangerous. This couldn't be farther from the truth! Your dog's behaviour is directly related to how you raise and train it.
I always find this argument odd. You may have been bitten by those breeds but you are still here to tell the tale. You probably wouldn’t have been so lucky from a breed with a serious bite force!
I’ve never been bitten by any dog and I’m not saying any dogs should be banned as there are good and bad in any but what I mean is that argument of I’ve only been bitten by small dogs is daft. More people own small dogs therefore higher percentage of badly trained dogs. If it was the other way round and more people owned large dogs there would be a high percentage of badly trained large dogs and I bet there would be a lot more serious injuries from bites from badly trained large dogs not just the cane corso I mean any large dog with a powerful bite.

@ terrier breeds have some of the strongest prey drive
Licence all owners and breeders . Any responsible owner would happily do a training course to gain a licence . Similar with breeders . Why do we ban everything ? Educate people and train people ! Our governments past and present, will do everything to make things so complicated.
Cane Corso's are gorgeous ... as are American Bully's.. it's not the dogs, it's the owners..
In all breeds, It is the responsibility of the owners.
Banning dogs seems to be big business...but banning fully grow adults that abuse children not so much a concern...🤔
well said
It’s Carney, you don’t pronounce it like a sugar cane ffs.
@@briarrose3155They are right it is Italian.
Knew this would happen
Yep
What a fantastic owner and frankly balanced, sensible conversation about a serious topic
Beautiful dog with a responsible owner ❤️
Is the beautiful dog in the room with us?
Beautiful dog my mom has one and she is the most gentle, caring dog I've ever seen
This guy speaks a lot of sense..
The child curiously plays with it and pulls the trigger one day, hurting someone or themselves
Would we say "oh we need to teach kids not to play with guns around the house" or would we..just not keep guns around frickin kids?
These dogs are just that. Loaded weapons that can misfire at any moment and have devastating effects. Nobody who loves their children would expose them to such risk
These dogs? Did you know a French Bulldog has a bite on average of 210 PSI.
What of German shepards, dobs etc etc 😂 do you even know what a Presa Canario is or a Boerboel? 😂
You 🔔 end.
Sheepdogs are lethal
Nothing like an pitbull. Beautiful dogs. Just because they're a big dog, it doesn't make them dangerous.
The main big difference is these dogs aren't killing people like xl bullys
Guys PLEASE learn at least to pronounce the breed name of the Cane Corso correctly before talking about them...Pronouncing the breed name correctly isn't "posh", it's NORMAL and quite honestly, getting that detail wrong might make one wonder what else you are getting wrong.
Yeah lets Ban all dogs shall we, then when we are done with dogs we'll move on to cats. These people that are looking to ban these Beautiful Creatures need to be banned from having any sort of public opinions.
No disrespect to the dog or it's owner but I really cannot find these animals cute or gorgeous
Thats really good to know, thanks for telling us all.
Me neither
I agree, im fed up with the obsession with dog's and every dog owner saying how responsible they are😂😂
Oh well done. Give attention and make it negative and get more banned
Excellent ambassador for the cane corso
So they bring on an out of shape, overweight cane corse. Try looking up one thats not been eating kibble its whole life. A proper cane corso is alert and can be dangerous if not socialised properly, They are a working line, protection dog, and should be used as such. A great breed, and very loyal.
people need to be educated children too
It is what I said for a very long and the owner John said It is the Owners responsibility to Train any size dog but also it is down to the owner to treat the animal in a respectful way so when they take them out, the animals are socialised are not afraid of the owners and listen And thank you for saying the truth.
It will probably be Belgian malinois next, or at least licensed to service personnel etc.
It’s the owners who are responsible a lot of the time, like children and their parents.
John thankyou for speaking up for our breed. You are a good example of a responsible owner with a beautiful example of the breed. My CC thanks you.
The lineage is clear and registered under the FCI
Cane corso beutiful loving breed we miss our girl every day
So pleased and relieved with these comments. I was expecting to read a comment section full of morons spouting breed prejudiced nonsense. To my surprise, most of the comments here seem really great and supportive of these lovely dogs!
cane corsos are amazing dogs l own one lovely family dogs and great protection dogs my dog will protect my family
My friends got one and it's got the most beautiful temperament. When does this stop
All dog owners should pay for a license.
He is such an articulate and sensible owner, and his dog has a beautiful nature
Fantastic dog and owner. It should always be the irresponsible owners and 'greeders:' who are banned. Deed Not Breed, as if these beautiful dogs are banned it opens the floodgates for more types of great dogs and responsible owners being wrongly punished.
Humans are the worst species on earth!
I have a 3 year old Cane Corso and shes the sweetest dog iv ever owned.
Its not the dog its the OWNERS!
This breed has been going for years my grandad had one as a child best companions to have. Also so what was the reason for this breed attacking they do not attack for no reason
stop gangster breeders wanna be fro having any dog to breed! Its not the breed-its the raising and condition of keeping!
My small cat poses a greater threat to society than these docile animals
Delusion of the highest order
This is getting boring now.
So refreshing to hear some common sense for once re dog ownership and behaviour!! Lazy dog owners are the cause of dog attacks, not dogs!!
There are no bad dog's just bad owners.
I've met Cane corsos, and they re lovely, gentle dogs. I could have taken them home 🖤🩶
The only dogs that have ever bitten me are Jack Russels & Yorkshire terrier’s.
Ban them! 😂😂😂
😂😂 to be fair I'd take a big dog over a little dog any day I've always found the little dogs to be more snappy 😂
@
I’ve never been bitten by a big dog..
That’s my point. 😂
Cane corsos arent for the simple dog owner. They need proper handlers. Sadly many dog owners either arent capable to train them. Verdict - ban them
No dog is dangerous every victim was too blame
The labor party is next on list to be banned in the uk soon 😂
fingers crossed
Next it will be all dogs banned it’s the people that get them not the dog
Hope my bichon frise isn't next😬
Evil things! Lol
Can’t even leave his 15 year old son alone with it 😂 Says it all.
It’s not the fact he can’t he just Dosent leave his child at home alone that’s a responsibility parent, I wouldn’t leave my 15 year old at home now a days
Not a bright fella are ya, Rich?
They are already banned in the uk
Nope
They cannot even say it right 😭
Nah a licence isn't necessary what criminal would pay for a licence anyways?
Beautifull docile dog great sensible intelligent owner 😊
You will want them when you have operation scatter.
I had my privates bitten off by a friends alsatian 4 years ago, but i still love all dogs
