      @ALookInto587 Год назад +41

      It is the same for humans. If you have enough for yourself you are totally down to help someone out if they ask for something. Now if you need to hope that you can pay the rent next month, you would not be down to help someone while you need to help yourself. Hence it is easy for animals raised in captivity to get along with those of different species, as long as they know each other since they were young, since the one would not steal any food from the other.
      The thing that I can not wrap my head around though is that lioness. It almost seemed like she wanted to reform society or something. Truly strange.

    When animals are young they’re just as impressionable as human children are, they learn to accept certain things as normal and take that with them into adulthood. They’re in a stage when they’re learning about the world just like we do.

    • @jtmoney361
      @jtmoney361 4 года назад +16

      With the limited knowledge I have on young animals I still feel like they are not just as impressionable as young humans. They are born with natural instincts that have been developed over a vast amount of time that young humans haven’t had to develop thanks to the way we are raised. Maybe impressionable to an extent would be more accurate?? I don’t know. I may be wrong. Not trying to just disagree with you, merely discussion

    • @bluestang9530
      @bluestang9530 4 года назад +21

      JT Rudd Humans have tons of natural instincts that you probably just don’t think about because they are so natural to us. Humans also have lots of learned behaviors but animals do as well. Many animals have to be taught by there parents how to do things, what to eat, what not to eat, where to find things, etc. Animals are products of their environment just as much as we are. We really aren’t so different.

    • @fatit5217
      @fatit5217 4 года назад +2

      Austin Barrett name another animal that gets as babies as humans do. Young children could never survive in the wild with just instincts compared to almost any animals instincts

    • @bluestang9530
      @bluestang9530 4 года назад +8

      Fatit So a newborn fawn can survive without its mother? A nest of baby birds without their parents? Animals mature much more rapidly, yes...but many species rely on their parents many months for survival. The only species I can think of off the top of my head would be most invertebrates, some reptiles, and some fish, which even those rely on their parents for protection for awhile. To be fair, most grown adult humans couldn’t survive out in the wild left to their own devices let alone a child. But that’s mostly due to the fact the we as humans aren’t taught how to do these things. I think you’d be surprised what a young child could be capable of if taught how to survive in the wild, of course not an infant but an older child of at least maybe say 6 or 7. Maturity is something that is forced upon animals because they’re hardwired for survival but you’d be kidding yourself thinking humans aren’t as well, a human put in a hard situation will try their hardest to survive. Just think about it, in some places there are grown adults that don’t know how to hunt or fish or even cook, but in some places there are children that go out by themselves hunting fishing and cooking. I digress, you’re correct to an extent. Most young children wouldn’t last at best a few days out in the wild and a young wild animal would comparatively stand a much better chance. All I’m trying to say is that animals go through a process of growing up not so dissimilar from our own. And forgive me if I seem to argue, that’s not the purpose of any of this, just serving the purpose of discussion.

    • @bluestang9530
      @bluestang9530 4 года назад +7

      To expand on that, what can we learn from this? In a post-scarcity human world, features that separate us may turn into curiosity if not affection. I've seen this in humans around me and personally I am fond of it. Besides this video being beautiful, it proves imho, that biologism-based counter-arguments to cross-barrier relationships do not prove anything.

      I don’t quite think that’s true even tho it would be great! Altho I had a similar thought in the beginning. If only the circumstance that “hunting is not necessary” would suffice, you would have the same behavior in basically every pet. Cats wouldn’t hunt mice if it wasn’t in their DNA. Altho its not only behavior learned from parents (rather: socialization). I think oftentimes, growing up with each other and getting to know each other’s body language while still being in an age of play instead of survival does the deal, especially when there is not much active protective parenting and “keeping the same race together” is going on. Enough space is important too so they don’t rub each other the wrong way in some situations. But that’s just my theory and in that regard, they are also not much different to us :3 animals are emotional and compassionate altho they can live without much emotional stimulus later in life (like us), they definitely crave some attention and care as children (even in eggs, as embryos, its possible. Ofc that doesn’t apply to all animal species). Also most if not all mammals and birds know to groom and care for each other, they know and differentiate feelings of comfort and safety contrasted to insecurity and danger - all of which they learn to handle, like us, in our early years (or whenever they 1st time experience a situation altho we are better at adapting and learning much later in life): by trial and error, habitualizing and conditioning. So yeah. Under the right circumstances, many animals could potentially befriend each other... like us :D lol

    This made me laugh and cry at the same time . We have a small children's farm where we live. When I was a child there was a donkey and a goose. They were inseparable, Always together, even when sleeping. They were a well known couple for 22 years. One day the goose died, The donkey did not come out of his stable for days, mourning and depressed. It was in the local news paper back then. I never forget it

    My future wife and I raised a wolf from a puppy at our home in Aspen, Colorado. When our wolf Esme was about 4 months old a flight of ducks, among many flying south, lit on our lawn. The next morning all the ducks were gone, except 8 ducklings huddled together near our porch. While we muddled over what to do, we noticed that Esme was carrying them, one by one, her mouth gentle around their necks and heads, through our open front door into our bedroom. From then on the ducklings followed Esme around, single file behind her and slept with her. Soon we noticed that Esme distinctly and unmistakably quaked as she communicated with her brood. In the spring the 8 grown ducks flew off together to join a flight of thousands flying north. Esme was for a while inconsolable.

      What a lovely accolade to "nean, viscious" wolves.
      I was so glad when wolves were introduced back into Yellowstone because they are part of the ecology. Farmers got all up in arms and said wolves are killing their cattle and I don't think that's always true.
      My dad, who died 30 years ago, grew up in Idaho and played with wolves as a child. He became a veterinarian specializing in poultry, but wolves were one of his favorite animals.
      I grew up with a St. Bernard and a racoon that were friends for years. When they started hanging out, both eating out of the same bowl.at the same time, Dad gave the raccoon rabies vaccinations. We wanted him to neuter the raccoon but he never would. The raccoon would disappear maybe for a month at a time and come back again. We can handle the raccoon but we never tried to tame it. (much). It sometimes nipped my brothers but I bit it back a couple of times and it did not bite me. Dad asked what I did and I told him the truth, I put it's paw in my mouth and bit it, having no idea it could have torn me apart. I knew the tale about raccoons washing their food was a myth before it was proved a myth.
