Good job
At 7:00 we are told that a sentence-final 了 indicates a change in the situation.
But I think this is only true if the verb is negated with 不 or 没(有) or 别.
Otherwise, I think a sentence-final 了 indicates the current state of a situation that will likely continue (as mentioned at 6:00).
For example:
他在这里工作 = He works here
他在这里工作了 = He is (currently) working here (and will likely continue) [ no change is implied ]
他不在这里工作 = He does not work here
他不在这里工作了 = He does not work here anymore [ the sentence-final 了 indicates a change in the situation because the verb has been negated with 不 ]
the second example "他在这里工作了” is a wrong sentence.
“sentence+了” indicates a change can be used in a positive sentence. For example:
他会说汉语。He can speak Chinese.
他会说汉语了。He can speak Chinese now. [The situation changed. before he doesn't know how to speak Chinese, but now he knows.]
It is very Helpful for me I'm learning Chinese Language online classes

I have a question about the third example of verb and 过.
爸爸做过医生,也做过老师。
"verb and 过" means something happened in the past but it doesn't continue now, which means the father is not a doctor, he is not a teacher either (爸爸现在不是医生,也不是老师。) Am I correct?
The reason why I asked is that the translation in English is "Dad has been a doctor and also a teacher," which means he's still a doctor and a teacher.
I'd appreciate it if you would answer my question!
Thanks for you lesson i like it xiexie ni
Your Chinese is so good 👍
Thanks! She is professional.

老师好
你好呀!
One drawback with grammar approach to minimize learning effort is that students can be very slow in response during converation. They need to perform extra step of 'grammar analyzing'. Why not just train students with 'feeling'? 比如「了」字的使用。what does it feel like to use such wors in certain position? Then, if students will automatically know when to use them when their feeling match. Instead of having to 'visualize' the sentence and perform grammar analyzing.
Sure the grammar approach help to rapidly developing students' language competency at the beginning. But this is done at the expense of progression at advance level. Study a language isnt quite the same as learning it.
Perhaps, one way to go about for second language learners is to have them figure out grammar themselves (to some extend) instead of spoon feeding the entire grammar rules. This probably help them to balance rules and feeling in a more practical way.
That depends on each student's character orientation : some are visual and perform better visualizing the sentence pattern, others are auditive and perform better doing scales so to speak. A fact that cannot be turned around is that Chinese sentences look like equations and calculation formulae and must be learned that way.

@Dèngdeng, how do you read the dots in 快 / 快要 / 就要 ······了 ?
In the video, I thought I heard something like "bě be". Could "diǎndian" also be used?
in Chinese, we usually say "什么什么” to express the dots.
着= Verb + -ing
过= Verb + -ed
了= (things that happens now)
您说 "着" 和 "过" 的否定是 "没",那包括 "没有" 吧?
是的,“没”和“没有”意思一样。

What is the difference between 正在 and 着. for example:他在睡觉 and 他睡着
In this context, the difference in nuance is very slight. Simply speaking, "正在" emphasizes the action, while "着" emphasizes the state of something/someone.

老师, 请问你, 我这样说对吗 ;
