- How to apply the Eco-Flo Waterstain with emphasis on the time it takes to apply it. That is the stain in the square bottles and should not be confused with dye or stains that causes antiquing.
If you apply it in less time, the leather might crack and you will get uneven coverage. Also, the leather should be dry when yo apply this stain - damp or wet leather will give you different unpredictable colors.
I created this video with the RUclips Video Editor ( / editor )
I now know how much application time is needed for these Waterstains. I'm still struggling with dyes and stains. Many people using these Waterstains like the results and advantages they provide. Now I understand what it takes to apply these properly. Thank you.
Happy to help! There is just no other way to do belts that customers want dyed on the back as well.
Thanks Johan. You're a wealth of knowledge!
Thank you for this Tutorial! You helped me Not butcher a project I'm currently working on.
Thank you sir! That helped me so much in getting a consistent and nice covering on my sheath leather. :)
Very helpful.. thank you :)
Thank You :-)
Hi, what color do you used in the video?
Thank you for share your knowledge!
Is there a difference between waterstain pro and normal waterstain of the same brand?
I got an airbrushing system for Christmas that I haven't tried out yet. Would the water stain work well in it?
Not this pro Waterstain, no. But the regular water based dyes work better than the spirit based dyes, because the water stays in the spray and does not evaporate like the alcohol in the spirit based dyes before it can hit the leather.
Can you reuse the sponge for another project? I'm thinking you could reserve "that" sponge for the same colour vs other colours.
Sorry for the late reply. Yes, just rinsing it under a faucet gets it totally clean - water runs very clear. So I use it for whatever color I do next.
Where did you manage to buy this in South Africa?
I am in America, so I bought it here. Woodheads in Cape Town used to carry Tandy products - I don't know if they still do that.
@@leatherworker ek sal daar gaan kyk! Baie dankie.
Excuse me, but what kind of paint do you use?
This was done with spirit based Fiebings dye, but it works successful also with eco-flo water-based dyes.
Thank you for the answer!
