I find it heartwarming that throughout literally endless possibilities, not one exists where Scott even considers anything above his own daughter.
I just can’t believe there wasn’t a single one where he didn’t have the daughter lol. That woulda been funny
This being the 31st movie and Kang being from the 31st century is another cool Easter egg
good call
And 31 baskin robbins flavors
One thing that I'm surprised you didn't really expand on is how when Janet says "Who is 'Kang'?" Kang responds "Who I have to be." It seems that he sees it more as a responsibility than an identity and might suggest that there are other Nathaniels who aren't interested in being Kangs.
Like, for example, the Iron Lad variant
He also said he knows how it all ends meaning it might be part of the plan
Kang destorying planets and timelines, the blue power he releases reminds me of the reset charges that the TVA uses. Which makes sense since a form of Kang created/runs the TVA.
Giant Scott stomping around Kang’s fortress was just to stall for time so Hank could get there with his ants. He even says “sorry I’m late…it’s a lotta ants.”
That's what I always thought as well
I NEVER realized that-
Kangs etch sure is also a mix of Irene, asgardian magic, start prodigy tech, sovereign, like each avra(bt has that if each universe, collective of the multiverse and maybe quantum realms too, even to this supervisor variant of kang
Besides, let’s be honest, what father wouldn’t be angry about this kind of situation?
@@Firelance2361 i know right
You seem set on Kang killing his own colony in the pruning scene, but I've always assumed he was wiping out a rival Kang's timeline.
If he can destroy entire timelines at a time, why would he personally involve himself in some random ground level massacre? I guess Erik figures it has some personal significance to that particular Kang.
@@douglasmarshall6949 he can time travel. It could very well be that they stopped him in some timeliness, and he (as a Narcissist) felt betrayed by their decision.
@@douglasmarshall6949what if it appears like a ground level massacre but it destroys that entire universe/timeline like Halo (Xbox)
Michael Douglas was a great choice for Hank Pym, because he projects the dangerous, borderline unstable edge that Hank Pym has.
I just wanna point out that when the 3 overlord kangs showed us their timeline, it WAS NOT in the shape of a ring, but every timeline was woven into each other, not too much unlike a net, or a.. web
I'm ready for Galactus to get bopped by Storm, Wolverine, Thor and multiple Spideys
@@nailinthefashion Just need Dr. Doom to be the best final boss in the Marvel movies.

All according to plan...
@@i_Kang_do_itwell if Battleworld happens it won’t necessarily just be whoever’s in the MCU that’s around to deal with him
@@i_Kang_do_it he literally loses to main comic continuity + ultimate comics characters in Secret Wars
“Are you the one with the hammer?” If only one of the endless Thor’s he killed (to the point he’s forgotten his name) knew a smart ant, so many could have been saved 😢
Thor would win that battle more times than he loses.
He knew who was Thor, he just being sarcastic
@@TheDestroyerX what if he was talking about cap and met him while he returns the stones
@@alexanderdumas- or could be that too
could be Steve too tho
Dale from BR shaking Scott’s hand for too long made me think it’s a reference to the scene from Civil War where upon meeting a Captain America for the first time Scott is in shock and audibly says he’s shaking Caps hand for too long. In both cases, a more/less civilian meets a superhero they admire enough to zone out while shaking their hand, however this time Scott is that hero. Just thought this was a great reference to see how far Scott has come
Also, when Scott is pulled up by that massive pile of Scotts, it looks just like a colony of ants. Ants act the same way.
I think that was the point hehe
Really?!?! No way!! Thats so clever! I hadn't noticed..... lmfao
12:46 eyes aren’t considered holes. A hole is when it is an entrance to a location. An eye socket that is without an eye is considered a hole. With the eye inside the socket is not a hole. Our eyes are air tight sealed. That’s why when we swim underwater and open our eyes, the water doesn’t go in the gap of our eye ball and socket.
Exactly. The hole stops being a hole when it's filled, and our eye sockets are filled with the eyes.
💯 exactly
Yep. If eyes counted i'd have 10 holes. Don't ask.
@@FunnyHaHa420 to late
Does your mouth stop being a hole when it's closed and you fill the space with your tongue? What makes eyes not holes is the fact that the sockets aren't just openings into the skull, they're more like bone bowls our eyes sit in, and the bottom of those bowls then have several small holes for veins and so the eyes can connect to the brain. So, the eyes are either not holes at all, or a lot more than just 2
Maybe when Kangs asks Scott if he is the one with the hammer, it can actually be a reference to Steve when he goes back in time because his suit is similar to Scott's and during Steve's journey, he had the hammer with him. So Kang could be talking either of Thor or Steve.
No, Kang has killed probably hundreds of Thors, that's what he was talking about
@@equinoxswine9132no no, Steve went back with that suit and a hammer
They could’ve encountered each other
Both are possible!
But why would he then say "they all blur together after a while" if he wasn't referring to killing multiple Avengers, and probably their variants as well. I guess he could be referring to watching the Avengers in the matching suits all travel through the timelines, but would really only make sense if he watched multiple variants of each Avenger travel through time instead of the main MCU Avengers that we watched on-screen.
It's Occam's Razor, he most likely killed many Avengers. Them blurring together could be referring to the fact that the Avengers are sometimes a different roster in other timelines, and he's stopped bothering trying to learn of all their names. This makes a lot more sense and it's in the vein of Multiversal Avengers.
Really does feel that Marvel's multiverse could head in any direction with the on and off screen situations. Exciting time.
what if Kang is actually keeping Antman in Quantum realm with a power similar to reality stone. at the end everyone all of a sudden knows Antman which is weird
I reeeeally want the ant civilization to be a major factor going forward hahahah, like they become kang level
Also you don't count eyes as holes hahah wtf? Ears, nostrils, urethra, anus, mouth. 7.
Eh, the wokeness and crappy writers ruined it kinda.
@@Joanlow1440p or maybe it's a soul realm type deal? Scott is held in a quantum limbo area.
Ryan from watcher is by far my fav MCU cameo. Been watching him since his BuzzFeed days with Shane and it's great to see him branch out in bigger things besides his and Shane's came in csi I believe it was
Right? Same here haha. Wish Shane was there too, Ryan may be wrong about ghosts but I've loved those two since unsolved in 2017 haha
@@KaladinVegapunk Shane as the superhero sceptic 😂
im so glad im not the only person that noticed him shoulda had him and shane but whatever
Beef Boy!
When it comes to the number of holes on Scott's body, why would you count eyes?!? Even if you removed the eyeball from its socket, it's still *not* a hole.
Sockets are just shallow holes
So a bellybutton is a hole? Don't see it...
@@bigjoe1979 ??? Where did you pull bellybutton from? For what it's worth, the bellybutton is an *ex*-hole, but under normal circumstances it no longer qualifies as a hole.
Really? So what qualifies a hole? When it goes all the way through? So does that mean we've been digging sockets into the ground this whole time? The way I see it, sockets and tubes are both holes.
@@OG_Agrivar yes I'm agreeing with you - eyes aren't holes.
Topologically holes go all the way through. Whereas sockets and bellybuttons are, topologically, flat surfaces.
I liked the film. And I enjoyed your even deeper dive on the details you outlined in this video.
i also love how if you look when darren is "shrunk" his head doesnt get shrunk as much as his body does and it plays right into his look in quantumania...such a great progression
Honestly I still had good time watching the film whether in the theater or on Disney+. Major's performance as Kang was the highlight of the film and he completely sold it. But of course with the legal issues with the actor right now has me worried for his future appearances. I hope nothing effects Loki S2 since we're so close to it's release but Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars is definitely going to be up in the air for the time being. So pray that Majors can make it through this crisis.
i agree as a kang comic fan boy...it was something i always thought about seeing in the big screen as a kid and i was happy to see the kang counsel
We going to find out in Loki S2 if that affects him (Major accusations) apparently
@@TheDestroyerX well I mean he's in court again right now so a decision will be made very soon
I'm with you, BurneyBoys02. I absolutely LOVED Jonathan Majors' performance as Kang and as He Who Remains, and I want more. Everyone needs to remember *an Accusation is NOT the same as being guilty.*
agreed
if you pause it at 25:40 you can see timelines merging and incursions happening. The little details you don’t notice at first is always dope.
I think when scott pushes kang into the core the energy from it looks like the webs that connect everything together in across the spiderverse👀
When kang was defeated in the end I think that’s how all the other variants were created but it’s a loop that begins and ends with kang in the quantum realm
“Are you the one with the hammer?” could be referring to Steve Rodgers after endgame. Cap took a Pym Tech suit and a hammer to the quantum zone.
Yes, he could. We also know Steve took back the stones and when he saw Red Skull he gave the stone to Clint and took Natasha with him. He was wearing one of those Sharon Stone masks at the end of Endgame. Nomad.
No, Kang has killed probably hundreds of Thors. Not everything has to be that complicated
We talked about the seven holes thing this quarter in my geometry class. Essentially yes humans have seven holes because if you map out all the holes in the body and you look at the definition of a whole only seven of them can be counted. The extra two are connected which counts as one. So on so forth. There’s some really cool videos on it.
What extra two? Eyes?
Extra two? Two what?
Are the Extra two mouth and butt?
@@videogameguy1988no, why would those be extra
@@flap.d.jack247 well I dunno he said extra 2….. I’m trying to guess what he means….. the only two that could be connected are mouth to butt as it’s one long hole from top to bottom from a certain point of view
when William Harper's character uses his psychic powers at least to me it looks like how Psylocke's powers were visualized in the comics with "psychic butterflies"
The whole "Kang, you lied to me ... our word is our bond! ..." I took that as intentionally over the top, in a way that would appeal to a megalomaniac, and drawing attention away from everything, and everyone else.
I really think that this kang will eventually become he who remains, it will loop around and have a satisfying ending
I think that's how he survives the incursions during Secret Wars, he was in a pocket dimension outside of time and space, he didn't fight, he remained.
@@nailinthefashion and that would make perfect sense
@@thewonkydonkeyleader the interesting part would be to see how he gains power back from that state, at least for me. I'm dying to know who will be behind Secret Wars
@@nailinthefashion I want it to be Loki. That would be the most Loki shxt ever and throw everybody for a loop.
But he who remains doesn't have the scar on the face that kang's having.
Sending those daily positive vibes from Houston everyone!
Eyes aren’t holes
I lowkey thought that when Kang mentioned the one with the hammer it could have been Captain America right? At the end of Endgame he travels through and goes to several different timelines where he could have ran into Kang right?
🤯🤯
It could have been.
also another fight i wanna see is Kang vs. Shang Chi or Kang vs. Thor (but like a bad ass viking warrior version of Thor)
I was thinking a worthy Scott Lang
@eianblosch3341 We can all hope and dream for that Shang-chi vs Kang or Thor vs Kang fight
The scene where MODOK gets made is similar to when Anakin gets transformed into Darth Vader
I mean in the end, it might seem like they open the portal right away but time always works differently in the QR, it could have been a while in the MCU for them to figure out how to get Scott and Hope back.
When I saw Scott turn to ribbon like Reed Richards, I immediately thought of Rick and Morty recycling Jerry changing clothes to save money.
It'll be interesting to see how Kang The Conqueror is going to fight both The Council of Kangs and The Avengers. Cause He literally hates them all 👀🤔
A Clue reference?! It really is all connected 😂 (Also I really wish that movie came out when your channel existed! Older movies like that probably have lots to deep dive into as well!)
He who remains might not really be a villain though if you think about it. Which is why he is in the logo
He kept the MCU as a single timeline, now that he's dead we get multiverse stuff
I really enjoyed this movie. And actually like it more with each rewatch!
Me too... It is a good movie with flaw obviously... Because movie interpretations are subjective
I don’t think eric knows that eye holes aren’t holes
Yep. Most of us refer to it as Sockets.
I noticed that the other Kangs teleport the same way Reed Richards entered the chamber in M.o.M.
Dr doom’s time square
Kang is believed to be a descendent of both Reed and Dr. Doom. At the same time, Reed is known to use or copy other people's tech like his eternal rival.
I like that when the scotts start piling up it is like certain ant species that do the same thing to reach a goal.
He Who Remains = Victor Timely. look closely at the Kang variant on the table when the three universes are stacked, that’s the same variant from the Loki season two trailer at the end of Quantumania.
Except He Who Remains was born around 3000AD, why would he be messing around in the 1900s?
HWR = Timely = iron lad = Exiled = conquer = prime
They are all the same person, with one choice changing his future
You’re right because in Loki season 1 last ep He who remains dialogue explaining how the first kang tamed the beast who consumes matter he changes the pronouns in the story from he to I.
Was Kang killing his own? We never see clearly what he was blasting. I always thought his final power blast (surged out of his body) was a result of something (or someone) being taken from him (Rebecca). Was it his timeline under siege from another variant? Were we forced to share Janet's one-sided glimpse into Kang's past and ultimately prejudging him before getting the full story? "You have no idea what I lost!"
Who would count eyes as holes??
Thanks Erik and, as always, the editors for these videos!
He's truly inevitable
I also like to think that kang sent antman because he knew in a probability storm his variants would all fight each other and not work together like scotts variants.
Eric thinks for all ur work I understand marvel so much better bc of u
I love how i just watched this and the 2nd one yesterday.
If Ezra Miller gets to be redeemed as The Flash then Jonathan Majors should get another chance as Kang also.
No
No way. Ezra Miller should have been dropped. The fact that he wasn't doesn't make domestic assault by Majors less appalling.
So you want this to do like flashpoint did? Lol
@@TheHarleqwin Majors didn't do anything wrong.
@@TheHarleqwinwasnt majors charged with a misdemeanor?
Inevitably the most underrated MCU film
keep up the good work! you should do a collab with the Cosmic Wonder
I don't think they counted Eyes as holes.
Exactly
@14:29 I thought Kro was voiced by Bill Skarsgard in Eternals.
19:54 He killed them. He killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men, but the women and the children, too. They're like animals, and he slaughtered them like animals.
i understood that reference
He hates them
Johnathan Major used the same voices for the time keepers as well the 3 Kangs in antman 3
Dr. Doom tech
The "probability storm" or "Schroeder's cat" is also reffered to as "Superposition" in Quantum physics.
Which states that every object exists in every possible location simultaneously in the form of a wave, when you are not observing or looking at it. Until an observer observes it, which then collapses the wave into solidified matter according to the expectation of the observer.
Ok so I thought Endgame was gonna be them shrinking down to the Quantum Realm and getting the stones. Anybody else?
I need a Scott and Jimmy series.
TBH learning all about the reshoots and the time crunches that impacted this movie makes me appreciate it a little more. Still not a fan of the third act, but it's something
'Are you the one with the hammer?' could be refering to Captain America who is seen with Thor's hammer at the end of 'End Game' wearing his quantum suit (which looks a little like the Antman costume)
Kang has to be a young like He-Who Remains. A lot of what they say is the same; just delivered in a different tone as Kang is on a voyage, he’s trying to win the multiversal battle. HWR won that battle and is at peace managing the flow of time to prevent the multiverse from collapsing.
I think iron lad has a choice that changed his future
there is a great video by vsauce on why humans have 7 holes
Had to pause this video to listen to Mr. E's Beautiful Blues. Had no idea Mark Everett was the son of the many worlds physicist, thanks!
Your videos always have interesting things that make me very excited to watch it 😍😍
Don't you guys think this movies arc would have been more satisfying if kang killed Scott at the end but Scott delayed him enough for the portal out to close.
Would've also made kang more threatening.
Scott didn't ask for orange slices because he didn't size up. He was regular-sized in the quantum realm.
The dialogue that victor timely says and what the Kang who was trapped inside quantum realm says to Janet van dyne are same.
I don't think eyes are considered holes.... Nothing major comes out of them and you can't sick your fingers inside them.
No one counts the eye balls I would’ve said 7
Eyes don't count as holes since they are always filled with eyeballs
Tears gotta come out of some hole.
Tears come from tear ducts - if we're counting "holes" that small we're going to have to count every sweat gland pore as well!
@@OG_Agrivar I'd argue tear ducts are many times larger than pores.
Not always
Patricia Belture also played Mrs. Dabney in Good Luck Charlie.
I just now noticed that the portal that Janet opens at the end looks a lot like a portal shown in agents of shield
The part where Scott Lang is forced to drink that stuff to understand the people in the Quantum Realm,
That part reminds me of a scene in Indiana Jones & the Temple of Doom, where Indy is forced to drink the blood, 😅😅😂😂😊😊
That is what Scott was thinking
I absolutely love this movie...especially as a fan of Honey I Shrunk The Kids & The Magic School Bus. No explanations given for the random evolution of the fantastic elements made it much better with every sequence. You didn't know what the heck was going to happen and while everything seems rather beautiful, it's an unknown realm full of danger. The ending definitely hints that Scott isn't in Kansas anymore.
If need be, I think a lot of people would be up to see Dr Doom be the villain of Secret Wars. Dr. Doom played by Keanu Reeves of course.
Woah....
cillian murphy as Dr. Doom would be pretty bad ass
@@eianblosch3341 I could see that. There's some shots in Oppenheimer that give me some Dr Doom vibes.
Dr Doom needs to be someone with great acting chops. Keanu Reeves may be an amazing human being and a great action hero, but he's a terrible actor.
Reeves isn't nearly good enough an actor. He's also too old.
Erik, now I need you to do a Deep Dive vid of Clue! !
Is it possible that the stone in MODOC's Head is a shard of the POWER stone? Note then when he is dieing the Stone is also gone / broken?
I don’t think they included the eyes in the 7 holes
Agreed, and why would they? They are *sockets* that hold eye balls; nothing passes in or out of our bodies through our eye sockets!
Indeed - there's bone behind them - cavities at best
What an incredible detective you are! Always mind blowing how u find all the details
Been waiting for this!
I enjoyed the movie a lot more at home than in the theater. I felt like some of the shots were fixed or maybe just being on a smaller screen coverd some sins... or maybe b/c my wife and i talked about the wilds stuff happening on screen in real time.
If Marvel can give Robert Downey Jr a second chance with his record of run ins…. They should move forward with Majors as Kang
They shouldn't need orange slices at all. When they are "giant's" in the quantum realm they are still microscopic.
I think it's supposed to be relative. There's a proportional equivalent.
@@publicguy1664 But then he'd need them every time he returned to normal size from small too. Right?
@@publicguy1664I think there's a couple different factors, I BELIEVE that gravity is less dense in the quantum realm, so it would effect them even ever so slightly less.
That may be why Cassie doesn't take as much as a toll not being experienced with it and why Scott could do it easy peasy
This level of the quantum realm is much like normal space.
I think the memory was of kang watching another older kang destroy those people. That happened im the comics. Kang kinda has a sad back story
12:38 would someone other than Scott be able to take his suit off? They are calling out the 7 holes they can visibly see and Scott thinks about it and just says yes so he doesn’t have to explain the others
He might not have been talking about Thor. He might have killed Steve when he was going through time returning the stones AND Thor's hammer.
Our Steve wouldn't exist then right?
Because he wouldn't have came back. Unless there's multiple variants of Steve that returned the stones.
@@FezMooseLive right, he didnt kill our version of steve who became old steve, but b/c of the multiverse and weird timeline stuff, he could have killed some version of him in some multiverse.
No. He didn't'. Steve survived that.

They need to fix the quantum timeline stuff, Scott was there 5 years said it felt like 5 hours , Janet was down there 40 years so should have felt like 40 hours, how long were they down there for the movie and does the timeline match that change?
I think they were in different places.
Ya the quantum realm is a universe in between universes so there is so many possibilities
they've established that there's no specific time dilation in the quantum realm such as an hour=a year. it's just that in different parts, time moves differently. hence how if you know how to navigate it, you can travel through time like in endgame
Scott was in a time vortex and Janet was not .

I don't think he meant Thor when asking Scott about the hammer. I think he was talking about Steve when was taking stuff back. If you think about it, the quantum suits and helmets look like Scott's.
So you're telling me he killed that Steve?
@gottawatchemall1118 nope. I don't think he did. That's why Steve would be a standout to Kang.

Really hope kang stays around 😢
If Johnathan Majors comes back, I hope he who remains is the real villain and not Kang…Kang lost…twice.
It'd make no sense for He Who Remains to return. Also Kang lost the battle but is still very much winning the war.
@@veggiewillymass he who remains won, he owned the sacred timeline…he’s the superior Kang.
@@kadadriancottman9097 Sure I don't disagree. But he died resulting in every other Kang that was against him to win the war and they continue to regardless of any ant-sized setbacks
@@veggiewillymass I see what you mean, and that is a truly broken villain. Kang boils be the most OP character in Marvel so far with being master of time, a nexus being, variants and all. It feels like we barely scratched the surface of how terrifying Kang could be. It would be cool if the real villain of all the Kang variants is he who remains.
@@kadadriancottman9097Disagree. He Who Remains, while a fun villain, isn't the type I believe would make a fun final boss. Need someone more ruthless and commanding. Not a goofball. Someone who strikes terror in the audience, not just the characters. Kang did that for me. Besides, it's not like his loss was something easily recreatable. If it wasn't for his own technology being used against him and the ants having technology BEYOND his, he would have won easy. And if it wasn't for the sheer dumb luck of Hope returning at just the right moment to distract him, he would have made it out. If he's still alive, I legit fear for the lives of the Avengers. No matter what, I didn't fear for Loki and Sylvie's lives when they confronted HWR. Or anyone else's. However, I will give you that HWR as we saw him had LONG since broken. But that's also what made him HWR. A villain who's given up before his opponents exist is a great warm-up, but a terrible finale.
Thanks 👍🏽
Liked it the first time like it even better on the rewatches.
Kang should have been as evil as the high evolutionary
He still has different variants to do so.
