One of the discovered episodes of the ABC version of "Password". This version of "Password" was one of the first Goodson-Todman game shows to be taped in Hollywood permanently. While on CBS from 1961-67, "Password" taped in Hollywood numerous times at Television City, including the 14 weeks in fall 1966 when CBS was converting the New York studios for color broadcast, as T.C. was color-ready.
this show was broadcasted around 4 pm on most of the ABC affialiates around April 5, 1971 till September 10, 1971 since they moved to 12:30 pm when Love, American Style moved to where Password was on in the fall. When Split Second debuted on March 20, 1972, Password moved to 12 noon for the rest of the series on ABC network untill June 27, 1975. Also Jack & Brett have been on together on this series over 7 times for the 4 years it was on ABC network. Still a very rare series since Game Show Network or GSN never aired the 70's ABC series besides the 60's CBS series more, but a very rare episode for now :)
When GSN was GSN!!! I love this guy, and the way he hosted the show was AWESOME!!!
Seeing this gem makes me wish more of these ABC eps were in circulation...
I was only 10 when this episode was on but my mom watched all the game shows back then...glad I remembered a better time on TV
There was a classic episode of "The Odd Couple" from season three in which Felix & Oscar were contestants on "Password"-That's a keeper.
Thanks so much for posting these previously 'missing' or 'lost' episodes of Password from the early 1970s!!!
This is the edition of password I grew up with! Nice to see it.
I have fond memories of getting to stay home sick from school and watch gameshows!
Coincidentally, the font they used for the celebrities' names is the same one that was used for the credits on "Quincy, M.E."
Lydian is the font name. Lydian Italic, meanwhile, was used for the opening credits on "Night Court".
If I ever produce a revival of blockbusters, I would base the set on this one.
