I love that the host got to the point where he was out of control with his laughter, crying and laughing. It made me laugh out loud.
Good on ya Shazza. From Timbo in Jeeralang Junction. I could watch hours of this show. Have a good one.
such a bittersweet moment..... this took place when Allen Ludden (the former host, and Betty's husband) had left Password because he had late-stage cancer, at the time he was still in the hospital. He eventually returned to host the show again, but he passed away after less than a year.
It's so sweet and sad, to see this show where they are directing jokes to him while he is in the hospital, saying things like " _Well now Allen will surely have to come back_ ".
Actually he did leave temporarily because of his cancer but came back after a month or so. Bill Cullen hosted during that short time. But when Allen ended up ill a second time, Tom Kennedy stepped in. Allen never returned and passed away during Tom’s run.
It’s not “a” Password Plus blooper… it’s THE Password Plus blooper! 🤣 This & the “testimony incident” from Super Password never get old!
My favorite from Super Password is when Bert broke the toaster.
Got the same “Illegal Clue” Buzzer on both PassPlus and SupePass…
🤣🤣🤣🤣 Dick Martin was on a roll there for a minute.
“Don’t worry, Allen…” always makes me sad.
But Betty knew he would see this and it was her way of including him, since he could not be there....yes indeed, very sad, that Allen never was able to get back to the set!
I watched this three times, so many double entendres going on here, I couldn't stop laughing. I sure hope that Allen Ludden lived long enough to see this! Dick Martin was eggin' it all on, he just wouldn't stop,,,,loved it! Being that Allen was in serious health and he was on everyone's mind, I am sure it was great medicine for all of them, especially Betty, to have these belly laughs! RIP Betty and Allen, and Tom Kenedy and Dick Martin.....so very funny...I added this to my "favs"!
yes he did live long enough to see this ❤️❤️ but not much longer, unfortunately. He came back to host password plus for a while after his hospitalization but less than a year later, he passed away, in June of 1981.
@@virg0_lem0nade thank you, for some reason I didn't think he came back......that man should have lived at least another 20 years.....sweetheart of a man, I had a crush on him when I was a teenager back in early 70's.....I loved the game of Password!
@@karenenderle532 When Betty was in her late 90's, she was asked how she felt to be getting close to 100. She said, if it was possible, she would've liked to have given 20 of her years to Allen and then they both could have gone at the same time. Classic Betty, caring so much about others.
I added this to my favorites, too.
Tom and Dick couldn’t even look at each other without loosing it. My favorite part was when Dick said “You have known me for years and this is the first time you have asked me to hold it.” This clip is hysterical! Thanks for sharing with everyone! I love Password Plus!
Losing it.
"They were going for 'head'... you'll just have to take my word for it" 🤣
_cue reading rainbow noise_
Hysterical! I was making my own clues and laughing at the same time. I could only imagine what Betty really wanted to say to some of those clues
This is television at its best.
"Tinker! - Betty 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I miss Betty! RIP Betty, Dick, Tom, and Allen!
Except for Allen, they all lived long lives. So I'm happy for that.
This is my favorite Tom Kennedy game show moment ever. His laugh is so infectious!
That Sherry wasn't the brightest bulb.
His laugh is the funniest part 😂
2:32 "Frence" 😂😂
Dick Martin lost his mind in this episode and Tom Kennedy is goofy in this episode
I'm so glad they aired this 😂
im surprised laughing so hard they didnt urinate on themself or an other accident lol
2:52 If he actually were to go to another show, it kind of makes you wonder what else was taping in Burbank that day. 😁
this was Halarious! 🤣
Thank you for showing this. I have never seen this before and I hadn't laughed so hard like I just did in a ling time. My parents who are in their 70s were also laughing.
This episode was on last night, and it was a real hoot!
That was phenomenal!
I thought guillotine from the first clue to the last. I would have lost..
All that for $100. LOL
Jon that's what i thought after they finally got it settled!
But they made the real money in alphabetics.
"No. They were going for head. You just have to take my word or that, I guess." I can't believe they aired that in the 70's.
I might have suggested Skull.
That was awesome, lol!!
I wish all gameshows had this spontaneity
Match Game was so much like this on every episode almost!
@@karenenderle532 Match Game had it's moments, but if watching too many episodes, my brain would turn to gravy. It was always so causal, but not the least bit intellectual. Password was so much more rewarding.
So did the game show where the stars were in Xs and Os. I canr remember the name of this show but I was hysterical sometimes.
HOLLYWOOD SQUARES.
She said “Victoria”???
So we're getting the NBC edit. Not the slightly longer one from Tom's collection.
P.S. I can quote this scene still.
Kathy seemed like a fun person. I wonder what she's up to these days, over 40 years later. She probably be about 70.
As a tribute to late sub-host Tom Kennedy, here are the best bloopers of the American "Password Plus" show (from a mid-1980 episode). 🇺🇲 🇺🇲
Tom just couldn't seem to get the take right!!!
Sherri wasn't a history buff, I guess. Saved by Betty, who managed to give great clues despite all the silliness! Although "pate" was a little obscure... maybe "noggin" would have worked?
Yes pate was obscure. I don't think I would have gotten it. but I for sure wouldn't have said chopped liver.
@@4seeableTV Or cranium would have done the job!
@@mehboobkm3728’Cranium would have done the job’ Hmm, why do I doubt that?🤔 That contestant should win the prize for biggest airhead to actually win a round on Password. I didn’t think you could be so empty headed and remain conscious. To quote the person who posted ‘ Sherri wasn’t a history buff I guess.’ Uh, d’yuh think? That’s got to be one of the biggest understatements in the history of the show. Not very good at history. Not very good at vocabulary, not very good in general at using her brain, what there was of it.
Based on the clues given for "lost" and "queen", I assume this was from the era of opposites prohibition.
I always thought that prohibition was a little silly. If the writers weren't lazy (recycling the same clues), they could easily come up with words that don't have an easy opposite.
Just say the word "Parisian."
3:42 - Almost had it.
That must be one of the most unintelligent contestants ever to win a round on Password. EVERY SINGLE ONE of her responses to Betty’s really pretty good clues were stupid, except for the last one. And yet from that extremely low base she had the ability to give INCREASINGLY moronic answers to the clues given as the game went on. In the end, astoundingly, she actually gave the correct answer, ‘queen’ to Betty’s great clue ‘Victoria.’ And then to the list of clues on the board - French, Revolution, Lost, Head, Queen - apparently so dazed by actually guessing the correct password for once decided it was such a special response that it must also be the best choice for the answer to the puzzle, i.e, the famous queen who was beheaded in the French Revolution. Of course! Queen Victoria of England, who wouldn’t even be born for another two decades after that little contretemps🙄
But I guess that was a really tough puzzle answer. I mean like whoever heard of Marie Antoinette and what happened to her🤷♀️
Still I think an appropriate prize for her would have been an all expenses paid trip to Paris staying in that famous Royal Residence, the Bastille, assigned the economy section, better known as the dungeons, fully furnished with chains, and other luxury comforts😅.
Wink Martindale hosted password plus after Alan ludden and Tom Kennedy
Its the French incident
*LMAO*
The crowd laughing seems to be in odd spots. 😊
i miss Betty White so much
But there's nothing better than knowing she led a FULL life and did so being loved and respected. It doesn't get better than that.
She totally friends with Tom Kennedy who was a really sweet guy and close to Allen Ludden and nervous about fillin in for him.
I do, too
Finally!!
That was funny
Looking outside the drunken shenanigans, Sherri Sojo seemed like a very determined player, focused on the goal, yet... judging by her guesses, wasn't very good at the game itself.
case in point: "chopped liver" lol
She wasn't on the same wavelength as Betty, who was giving her good clues.
She lacked a knowledge of history, and that negatively impacted her performance.
I think she was nervous, you see right at the end when they're talking it's like Sherry is apologizing to Betty and Betty's trying to relax her.
@@karenenderle532 What am i chop liver?
Love you Rose Nylund
It definitely seemed like sometimes they made up the rules as they went along....
I don't think Sojo gets the rules of the game.
That's about as funny as the Family Feud September pregnancy fast money round
i don't mean to be disrespectful of mr martin, but why did it always seem he was funnier playing the straight man in the comedy than being the funny man. BOth take talent but to mean he seemed to be better feeding off of others than leading. nothing wrong with that, some just are better at it and make it work. some can do both but prefer playing the lead/funnyman to me he always seemed to be funnier as the straight man
The funny thing is in the olden days when it comes to comedy duos, the "straight man" actually got paid more typically, because everyone wants to be the funny man so it was tougher to find a good straight man.
French
RIP DICKTOM and BETTY
From the early 40s until the early 80s, you could get away with saying stuff like that on national television (prime example is on Match Game ‘79 when one of Fannie Flagg’s answers was “A Chinaman”). But nowadays you can’t
Both Dick Martin and Tom Kennedy were bright red as two plump tomatoes from laughing their blasted heads off. As I’m still crying from the news of Bob Barker’s death, I SO NEEDED this laugh
The consistent laughter was like the situation that just wouldn’t end 😂
This is probably the ONLY time I thought Betty White was funny. I NEVER liked her at all. She was SO overrated!
2:41 “another show?” 😂
What I took away from this is that the American Education system has been sub-standard for far longer than "new math" or "Standards of Learning". An American adult 43 years ago couldn't take the clues; "French", "Revolution", "Lost", "Head", and "Queen" and come up with the Queen who lost her head as part of the French Revolution. Instead, she guessed "Victoria". SMH
What's with the reverence for Ludden. He wasn't President he was a game show guy
Maybe, but he was very respected in the industry and he's considered a legend in the game show world. I don't recall ever hearing anyone say one bad thing about him.
Man, Sherry was terrible.
If she's still around, she's probably the only one that doesn't think this episode was funny. Her brain was out to lunch.
I'd be so nervous that I'd miss everything.
Stage fright
And he's supposed to be a host of such a famous game ? Laughing his head off like a hyena ,and crying into his spectacles.....wasting half an hour on a joke nobody else found funny ,they should have clippedhis salary
It was CUTE but it wasn't funny!
It was great that evil Betty White didn't make it to 100.
