Betty White must have been born under a star. Universally loved, wished a happy future (59 years of it from when this show first aired), well deserved. Was with Ludden 3 days shy of 18 years, and just days before turning 100 the world thinks she left us too soon. Irreplaceable beautiful soul.
After Allen passed Betty was asked if she would ever date again she said, “when you had the best who needs the rest”. Now they are back together, god speed Betty
Beautiful comment!
That's right!!
Yes, I would guess she's buried with him.

Betty’s Yes! at 19:40 is the funniest single word ever said on the show. So wonderfully naughty.

What a great couple they were! So in love always, according to one of her books! 😊♥️🌹😘🥰

Love the formal attire. So many questions,Cerf almost got it. Wow, a woman chiro in 1963. DO, doctor of osteopathy. DC, doctor of chiropractic
I love it when John Daly's accent morphs when there's any other foreign accent present especially European-english accents (British Irish Scottish)
Truck Taxi, John Daly was apparently born in South Africa. I need to find out how long he was there. I tend to morph into accents, too, when with someone with an accent. I grew up in South Africa (as an American) until I was 16, but lost any South African accent I ever had. I don’t think it ever was a true South African accent, though, because in South Africa, they thought I had an American accent. But in the U. S. they thought I had a South African accent!
@@VickyRBenson John was born in South Africa to an American father and a British mother. He had a Scottish nanny as a small boy. His father died when he was 9 and when he was 10 his mother moved to New England and enrolled her sons in Tilton School in New Hampshire. He attended Boston College until he had to drop out due to finances during the depression. John also had a strong Irish heritage. So his accent was actually British-South African-Scottish-New England. He once said “I have a quaint illusion that I don’t sound funny”.

New Years Eve 2021 is ending just as awfully as it began. The world is heartbroken by the news of Betty White's passing. She was just days away from her 100th birthday. Betty made this often cruel world, easier to bear. She's a legend, an icon, animal rights activist & one of the most magnificently funny human beings. We believed you would live on forever. They are now both Reunited Back Together Again in Heaven 😪🙏🙏🙏🙏
Agree I know one interview of a question about if she was in heaven. She was waiting for her husband 🥺.
How can you know. Betty was against what God is for I. The Bible. If she followed the Bible no need to wonder because God speaks directly in His word.
@@suestephan3255, and you can prove that, how, exactly?
Prove that Betty White went to Hell, how?
I am an agnostic and I cannot disprove that or prove it. I also cannot prove or disprove a heaven or hell.
But, you are certain.
So, let's see your proof.
And, if its faith-based proof, where is your proof that faith is more important as a proving tool, than concrete evidence is?
Let's see it.
If you cannot produce that, then quit being a contrarian, and let these religious folks have their wishful thinking... along side yours.
@@robertsprouse9282 woah I said you can’t be sure. As an agnostic you doubt the Bible but those who believe what God says know what He says. It is really wonderful that the Word of God is straight forward. I am not going to get in to specifics but Betty spoke out against what the Bible teaches. It is not to pick and chose but many do and then it is a different Gospel.
@@suestephan3255, that is true only if CHRISTIANITY IS TRUE.

In what other parts of your life do you heap not kind words, or praise, or even indifference, but essentially- and you cannot be sure and yet you can be= bible & Christianity- based on NOTHING BUT faith of how you think an issue shakes out, USING THE LATTER only?
And, you need to learn that agnostics question yes or no, any religion= belief in a God/god(s).
You just seem to say WELL, THE CHRISTIAN GOD AND THE BIBLE are the ONLY ONES that you are questioning because THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES ATTACHED TO A GOD(S)..
Yeah, what proof do you have?
I think you like categorizing people and then hiding behind convenient institutions so you can feel better about yourself, although you say you're a sinner but you're a redeeeeeemed sinner lol, by putting other people in a box and putting them down not with your ego BUT GAWD ALMIGHTY, JEEEESUS- although, its your ego doing it- but hiding behind a God delivering your desired putdown IS SO MUCH SNEAKIER.
I will bet my house that is how you operate.
This may come as a shock to you but I do not care for BETTY WHITE'S LIB POLITICS, but to condemn her hiding behind a proxy for my ego, a GOD, is something I am too humble AND HONEST WITH MYSELF, to do, especially, when its my wishful thinking..like

From Betty's wiki - "White has not remarried since Ludden's death. In an interview with Larry King, when asked whether or not she would remarry, she replied by saying "Once you've had the best, who needs the rest?"" *sniff*
Her one regret she said is the year she kept him waiting while trying to decide to marry him. She wasted a year of their life together.
George Burns said something similar. When asked if he would marry, he replied: "I've done that." Meaning once & forever. To our beloved Gracie.
Although I know now, I never knew that she was married and divorced twice; and that Allen Ludden was her third husband. I can see why she kept saying no to him. She probably didn't want to go through another divorce. But in the long run, she ended up marrying him. And they stayed together for 18 years before he died of cancer in 1981.
I didn't know that Arlene Francis was married before. I thought Martin Gabel was her only husband.
Daria Wells ~ Betty has said that she has had her share of male "companionship" since Ludden's death, so it is NOT as though she had stayed totally "true" to what she termed "the best". She simply chose to play the field & NOT marry for a fourth time.
Can’t believe Betty White was 41 here! Gorgeous! She ages just beautifully! Even today! Allen passed away way too soon...
Twice she had a ‘little help’.
But she had a gifted surgeon, who kept the eye lifts very natural.

These old shows always bring an element of elegance, class, and wry humor. We have grown so far from this.
Absolutely couldn't agree more. We've gone way off track.
One of the panel members was probably murdered because she knew too much about, well, you know.
I would say these shows mean something to older people for nostalgic reasons. They mean almost nothing to young people, and even less to people of color. Almost ZERO blacks, hispanics, Indians, Asians and Muslims. Gosh, I wonder why?
@@JiveDadson - These shows did well because there was no competition, not because they were all that good or even funny. The 3 networks had a monopoly and THEY literally told you what was funny (laugh track).

Quite a different scene these days.
The 93-year-old actress told Oprah that if she could do anything differently in life, she would have married her husband Allen Ludden sooner. White said she put Allen off for a year before finally giving in, marrying him in 1963.
When Oprah asked White if she had “any big regrets,” White responded: “That I spent a whole year, wasted a whole year, that Allen and I could have had together, saying no, I wouldn’t marry him. No, I won’t. No, I won’t leave California. No, I won’t move to New York. I wasted a whole year we could have had together. But we made it. We finally did.”
Oddly enough, Betty White’s biggest regret had nothing to do with her first two failed marriages. She married U.S. Army pilot Dick Barker in 1945 and Hollywood agent Lane Allen in 1947, but White said they were just not right for her.
“I had lovely relationships, but not anything in the league of Allen,” she told the Mail Online last year.
Betty White met Allen Ludden when she appeared on his game show, and they dated for two years before White finally accepted his proposal.
They remained together until Allen’s death in 1981.
Betty White would never marry again, saying that no other man could compare to Allen.
Thanks for this wonderful comment-- they were a couple for the ages, all right. :)
One of my favorite Betty White moments was on Inside the Actors' Studio, when she was asked what she would like God to say to her when she went to Heaven and she said "Come on in, here's Allen". It was so sweet.
Allen Ludden even wore an engagement ring around his neck. And he was going to keep wearing it until Betty White said yes to him.
Kelly02895 awww...is that on youtube?? I never saw her on it when I had tv!
Nan Fagan sweet! Funny...I don’t remember that making it into her book!
You can tell Betty White already had the world around her fingertips. Amazing how she was universally loved for so long. She lived a stellar life with no regrets.
Arlene and Dorothy were women ahead of their times! Smart, independent, sophisticated, quick, classy, etc.
Kilgallen was a racist
And, they took Geratol everyday. Their hubbies thought they'd keep 'em.
@@dontlookback3549, was co-producer of AMOS AND ANDY? Or, did you see her at the Klan meeting?
No. They were OF their time. Likely born in the 20s, came of age during the want of the dirty 30s (when most had to roll up their sleeves and do any job that they could find just to eat) and then likely worked at traditionally male-dominated jobs during WW2. The 50s were full of these fabulous, smart and self-sufficient ladies but today, we constantly have Marilyn Monroe shoved in our faces - we don't see the full picture. Ironically, it was during the 60s that women were depicted as weak and silly (when feminism was making its big comeback), not the 50s.
Watch 50s episodes of WML and see how many women judges, ditch diggers, Doctors, electricians, politicians etc they present.
@@rosepearl7092, Bingo!!..They always want to say that women would just let men run all over them back then.
That aint the household I grew up in.
Both my late stepmom and still alive half sister had big, harpy mouths. My late Grandma, EVA SPROUSE raised me from 2 and a half to 5 and would on foot if she couldn't get a cab, walk three miles into town every day and sometimes back, to work at the bus station in Pittsburg, TX., at first full-time in her 60's, and then part-time all the way up into her 80's so she wouldn't lose her Social Security. She lived to be 95.
My biological mother who abandoned me to her friend out in California where I was born in the '50's, was a feisty old person who I did not see from 2.5 to 53 and worked in a casino as a waitress for decades.
These so-called feminists post-1970, think they invented the strong, independent woman the female who would not take guff from a man, or anyone.
Lol, what a bunch of crap.
Wow. Allen Ludden & Betty White. The undisputed, ultimate game show couple.
Married for 18 straight years, til' death did them part in 1981.
If they weren't as happy a couple as they seemed to be, I don't want to know about it! It's all too rare to see a couple-- and I think most folks would put Arlene and Martin Gable in the same category-- that appears to be such a perfect, seamless match for one another.
+What's My Line?
I agree with the assessment and the comparison of the two couples. And it is interesting how similar in personality Arlene and Betty are.

RUclips is WAY better, because I can watch really wonderful shows like this one, any time I want!
My Mom loved this show, but I didn't watch it when I was a kid because it would have been "boring" to small children. The other night I was watching WML? and Arlene wore a dress that was IDENTICAL to my Mom's "little black dress" with rhinestones and a silk chiffon cape that I loved so much as a child that I still have it!
I know she bought it at Neiman Marcus, I still remember going shopping there with her and she dressed to the nines; hat, gloves, silk stockings, and Estee Lauder perfume. There was a salon where models would show the new dresses to customers as they sat and sipped coffee. I was a quiet child, so I was allowed to be there and it's such a fun memory! I got to dress up too, though I hated the white gloves.
I wish I could tell Mom that she was every bit as elegant and lovely in that dress as Arlene was. Mom would be 100 this year if she was still with us.

I grew up during this era and watched this show every Sunday night. IT was brilliant. The panel's brains were fabulous.
That's because this show was broadcast live for most of its run. Not every episode was live during this era of the show, but this particular episode was. If it were pre-taped, Johnny Olson (the announcer) would have said so during the credits.

With Allan Ludden and Betty White, It’s a shame they were only married 18 years until he passed away in 1981. That marriage was his second, her third. Apparently Betty White has always had a rather smutty sense of humor! 19:40 is a 50-year-old hint of that.
Oh, Betty White had a very bawdy sense of humor, yes. We had talked about this on one of the earlier appearances she made on WML, that Arlene Francis was a clear precursor for Betty White's multi-decade rule as one of the most reliably entertaining celebrity guests in the world of game shows. She was known for her ribald jokes, which was such a wonderful contrast to the squeaky-clean image she had in her earliest solo TV work.
Oh, yes, Betty is a very saucy lady. And in this episode of WML, she is very, very beautiful.
Saucy was the exact word I thought of for both Betty and Arlene, delightfully so, without any negative connotation attached.

It's so sad they didn't have a lot of years together and Betty always regretted
she didn't say "yes" to his proposal sooner. I like to think she had one of the most
happiest marriage ever despite Allan Lunden health issues.
What health issues, may I enquire? Not much in Wikipedia.
Allen Ludden was diagnosed with stomach cancer back in 1980. He took a month off from hosting Password Plus to get both chemotherapy and radiation treatment, and Bill Cullen filled in for him. Allen Ludden then came back to the show. However, a few months later, his cancer came back. He was just sick to continue hosting Password Plus. Therefore, Tom Kennedy took his place for the remainder show; which ended in March of 1982.
Allen Ludden died of cancer in Los Angeles on June 9. 1981; the same day that Natalie Portman was born. He was only 63 when he died.
Oops! I meant to say that he was just too sick to continue hosting Password Plus. Sorry about that.
@@Lisa-di1wi Sad story.
The last guest, Bobby Moore, was one of the all time greats of English football, probably the best Center Back (defensive) ever to play for the Three Lions as the English team is called. Sadly he passed away in 1993 from cancer. He was just 51 years old.
Nice to see how pretty Betty was in the early 60's and I watched Password as a kid and always liked that show too with Allen. The panel was gracious about their marriage. So classy.
i'm sitting here and suddenly cry, My God, it's Bobby Moore! One of the finest of footballers of all time. But at that time in the US, football (soccer) was hardly known.
Bobby wasn’t going to let him get away with “rugger soccer”!
i couldn't catch where the first contestant was from, but she had that "Lady Di head tilt (forehead out, chin in, slightly cocked), with soulful eyes" look.
Indianapolis, Indiana. She emigrated to the U.S. from Latvia.
I thought the exact same thing, Oh my gosh 🙂👍
It's awesome to see Dorothy Kilgallen, but knowing the circumstances surrounding her death, it always make me sad.....
It was really creepy. She was dead only a few years later in 1965, too.
It makes me very sad about Dorothy!!! She was so intelligent and interesting as well as just as pretty as a picture!!
Betty White - best dimples in Hollywood
Wow! Bobby Moore before he became a huge soccer hero in 1966 as captain of the England team that won the World Cup by beating Germany. Martin Gabel asked about 'rugger soccer' but John Daly was right to correct him: rugby or rugger is played by handling or kicking the ball while soccer or football is played with feet, body or head. The word 'soccer' comes from Association Football but in England we just say 'football' because American football is played here but by a devoted minority.
RIP Betty White 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼😢
She's with Allen Ludden now
"YES/NO"!! LOL!
The BEST couple. ❤️ Betty is still working, still helping with animal conservation, still playing cards, still loving her pets. Allen got his wings 39 years ago today, and he’s surely smiling down on her. Fantastic people, both of them.
And Betty got hers just 6 days ago
@@colleen4ever they’re together. According to her personal assistant, who was at her side, Betty’s last word was “Allen.” She already knew he was waiting for her as she transitioned. ❤️
Allen was so handsome & Betty so pretty. They were so happy. His early death was tragic.
Bobby Moore one of the greatest footballers of all time and one of the heroes of 66 !
Betty White and her dirty mind!!! Love that woman!!!
:( I just cannot BELIEVE all these comments I'm reading! I love Betty White. I think she's been on every game show known to man, and it ALWAYS makes the game show better when she's on. But not one person here (from what I've been reading) is even REMOTELY concerned with her soul!
As great as she is, unless she repents, she's going to hell. She is 98 years old! She need PRAYER more than she needs Praise!! (I remember praying for her and Bob Barker Both a couple years back. Guess it's time to start up again)

Oh Betty. My love. My favorite. Thanks for bringing the hubs
Could anyone be more stunningly handsome than Bobby Moore!?
I love how they guess a "lady osteopath" or a "lady masseur" instead of just an osteopath or masseuse.
Betty White was such a beautiful woman. No wonder Allen fell head over heels for her. Why does Martin Gabel seem like he is so dry with no sense of humor?
Martin was definitely NOT "dry with no sense of humor".
