Been following Y'all for a while now as we do research for our own RV adventure... fyi... you did NOT come through as arrogant. You guys are the most refreshingly normal and inspiring family on you tube.... IMHO... all the best!
"Memories and joy," you guys taught him right. That's what traveling is about. When the kids say that, it's priceless. Great Episode. Wish I could get the wife and kids onboard to travel full time. Back in AZ? It's a beautiful fall!
I can’t tell you how important it is and how much I appreciate the respect you two have for each other’s (main) responsibilities....for instance it is so hard as a mom to keep everybody fed and have food on hand to be prepared when the husband has to fight about letting me go get groceries, then is angry because there is no meal when you get to your destination (home, camping, traveling)....ugh, I’m so glad those days are over ! Now the kids are grown, he’s an ex and I buy too many groceries 🙄 Anyhow your respect for each other and for your children is very evident and very refreshing !!!
Your 10 ways list is right on. We have been traveling since April, not in a hurry, winging it for overnight places, mostly small Rv parks and state parks, Today, for the heck of it, we drove thru Petrified Forest Nat. Park, hiked a bit, had a fun unplanned day before driving to our winter base.
Best RV Channel Ever Ken and Barbie, we mean Mark and Trish! Lol... We’ve been RV/Overland for 30 yrs part time, no full time, and let me tell ya, your not arrogant at all, you two are amazing and very helpful to so many! Including us!
We dont have an RV yet but just wanted to thank you for teaching me the importance of eating healthy and exercising. That is my goal I have been working on for the years to come.
Love your videos! I have lived in Vancouver most of my life. The glass on the buildings is all the same colour because of City Bylaws . They have allowed a few variations in recent years with the new downtown casino. I really enjoyed your Alaskan trip. I'm looking forward to your next adventure.
2 things I agree with on this video! We like to get a pizza when we get somewhere (camping or not) because everyone is usually wore out. I also park the same way for the same reason. I also try to angle my truck to where it’s pointed out just in case you have someone who is inconsiderate!
Funny story about arriving to a campground at night...... A year or so ago we ended up pulling into a private campground outside of Tahoe pretty late (after dark). The host had been in pretty close contact with us all afternoon, which seemed strange . When we arrived he comes out with his flashlight to tell us where are site was. First thing out of his mouth is, "Oh good you have four wheel drive" 🤔😯 😂 Not what you want to hear after a long day of travel and a trailer behind you. It ended up OK. Just a back in up a dirt hill and then down the longest site we have seen to this day with trees on both sides and a drop off at the end. My husband handled it like a champ, and no one had to apologize for anything they said while backing the trailer 😂🤣
Actually it was kind of refreshing to see and hear Marc pissed off for a change. It shows the human side and that not everything is peaches and cream all the time. Love all your videos. Thanks!
I finally found a full-time, work from home job that I have an interview for tomorrow. I'm pretty excited if I do get the job. My girlfriend and I's goal is to save money through the winter and fall and come May or June, buy a used class C motorhome and start out traveling for 3 months and see if we like it.
It's "my girlfriend and my", not "I". I hate to be that guy (obviously not rly, cuz here I am doing it). General rule is, take the other person out and say the sentence, then reinsert the other. Many apologies. Hope this was actually helpful.
A tip I learned on long trips is to build in slush time. For example, if it's a 5 day trip make the 3rd day a "rest" day. You don't have to rest but it just gives you a free place in your planning for improvise. This helps with not over planning and also the "rushing" problem.
1st time long time watcher...Your comment about border procedures was right on the mark. After 43 years of crossing back n forth you learn very quick that when you get cheeky with them and they pull you into inspection and sit your ass for 3 hrs..lol
On parking in a lot, I pull a variety of different length trailers from 14’-48’ everyday in a city setting and find parking in a lot like you do good practice; I just take up more of the parking space in front of you by pulling in deep to the passenger side curb and turning the truck to the left so the truck is out of line with the trailer. This assures me that no one will block me in from the front and I am set up already to pull out of the parking spaces. It also takes up less spaces. 😉.ps I have been on board from your first flat tire on RT 17 heading up to Flagstaff.
We have been making a list of things that we've learned in 2 months of full-time living, and so many of these things are on our list. Especially setting up in the dark, avoiding long drive days, and getting fuel (especially in Wyoming!). Thanks for another excellent video guys!
So true about arriving after dark! We always try not to but often wind up doing it. We try to be as quiet as possible and approach with minimal lighting when we approach in the dark out of respect of those who may not want headlights shined in their faces at the campfire, or in their tend or windows if they are sleeping.
Yea we usually arrive to a site on a Friday night, I added a backup LED light and backup alarm...I can see but I feel bad when we have to backup and the alarm sounds. If possible I look for pull through site. Still RVing is fun! We’ve been RVing for 20 years Have fun guys
I love Flying J for our Diesel pusher. Trick is to get a Good Sam/Flying J card. First, they don't take personal credit cards at the truck pumps so it's an extra trip inside to pay. BUT, the Good Sam deal is an accepted card (it debits directly to your bank account once per month) at the truck islands (much more room to maneuver), gives you the cash price, and a discount off of that. You do have to go inside after pumping if you want a receipt but there is a machine that prints that so no standing in line, unless you buy something else.
Welcome back to the lower 48! Your top 10 list is pretty spot on. Weve been full timing for 17 months. On travel days we like to order delivery for supper. We too, dont rush things, we tend to make mistakes when we rush to set up or break camp. One thing we are very different from you guys is we always have reservations made. We are a tad OCD about that. We find great comfort in knowing we will have a place to stay at days end. Anyways you guys rock your videos! Love watching them!
"Ford F-450". My Dad purchased an F-350 back in 1999, found an outfit in Florida that made Ford badges, so he relabeled his F-350 an F-550. A month later I purchased mine (F-350 Dually) and immediately had it labeled an F-650. One-upmanship is alive and well. Now, with an early '99 with only 100k on the odometer, I still get looks. That first Nordhavn (I saw what you did there) "Due North" is a charter ($6KUS for two, 5-day trip thru the San Juans) the second (N62/37) is, I believe, "Barrington". Currently on the market. M/V Cassidy is apparently back in the SF Bay Area, nothing on their trip back South, hope all is well. Great wrap-up to the Alaska Voyage with my favorite scene being the momentary look on Trish's face when you mention renting bicycles at 16:34. Priceless. Please share my thanks with the entire family for the most entertaining videos on RUclips. They have never failed to deliver. Carry on.
Many things I thought of to say during this episode, so I will just choose one. My cousin who has lived in Vancouver for probably 4 decades says this as we are crossing the Lions Gate bridge you crossed. Just as we enter the bridge she says something like oh no I am low on fuel and when she is low on fuel she is really LOW on fuel. Then she says, if you run out of fuel and stop on the bridge they will tow you at your cost and there is a huge fine! Oh! No! I freaked! Geez, Louise! Love Vancouver, you guys are also up on that list too!
Glad your sense of humor is well intact, especially Caleb. Welcome back to the lower 48. What a great summer you shared with all of us. Thanks for all the good info!! Shelley from San Diego
In the 40 years we have set up tent camping or RVing, 95% has been in the dark. When it has been light out, the stress level is about 95% less. One tip we do is to always go around the rig and the camping area again before leaving. We've saved our antenna and our pressure regulator on the water hook up several times!
We carry a big tank of water in the bed of our truck with a little gas powered pump so we can refill our water while dry camping. We then don’t have to worry about using all our water. It fills our tank about 3 times. If we are somewhere dry camping for an extended time period or with friends who tent camp but use our toilet and shower I will run to a nearby town and fill our bed tank again when it gets low. It takes a lot of stress out of dry camping.
Thank you for brightening my day. Much appreciated. You guys are one of the main reasons we will be on our way out on the road the end of next year. We can't wait. The worst part of deciding we wanted to do this over a year before we could has been the waiting. I'm done. I'm ready. We both are but there's still all this time left.
We love your channel, have learned so much from you guy's about the RV life and the lessons you teach. We are getting prepared to start our own journey as well and thanks so much for being a teaching channel we can learn from. I am just getting started with our channel and appreciate everything you post. Keep up the good work.
Some 450 envy....haha! I understand...love my 3500 HD Chevy Dually Diesel crew cab. 😊 like the 40' busses diesel pushers but decided enough is enough...contentment is key to life, less is more often
Just another fantastic video. And it could’ve been two or three. Really appreciated your top 10 list. Maybe do it again sometime and expand even further with more details and reasons. I will be traveling solo and I can’t even flippin’ imagine how you all coordinate your travels with a family of 4 to5 people! Kudos! Such a funny border crossing with the whole citrus inquiry and specific questions to the teenagers. I learned to go slowly when I did a 6 week road trip in a 69 VW bus back in the 90’s, so will have no problem not rushing along once I am full-timing 🤗 🌈 But again, it will be just me and a negotiation-free experience 😂 Always look forward to your Sunday videos. Do keep them coming please! 💕😎
Thanks for sharing this video, helps confirm where not to travel to, in an home on wheels. You both sure make a good team and the best of a situation. 😊
Great video. It created good conversation for our travels. I don’t think the flowers, trees, and fruit are a sign of age but more of the photography skills developing more and more. Thanks for the tips.
Great great tips. 👍❤ We have been RVing (not fulltume) for a year and have not left California yet. So much to explore and keep the driving under 4 hours. We have so much fun and there is not toooo much stress.
Hey Mark & Trish I hear you about being in a rush and wanting to get there, I am the worlds worst for AIS (ass in seat) at a set time. So after watching your vid I am going to try and chillax. Thanks for a great video guys so helpful for us newbies.
Bribing the boys with food always works. We do the same with our two boys. That's a great list of 10. Some of them apply to just travel in general and we've learned them cuz we do travel alot. Just wanna say...your music choices are so good. Easily one of my fav YT channels I sub to. Thanks for keeping it real and also for the awesomeness you show the world.
Hey Marc and Trish- thanks so much for the reply to me on your last video (I think)- You were very polite, and I didn't realize how busy you are (duh!),- I'm just glad you are home safe and happy. No reply needed, just wanted to wish you guys many blessings! Bob
Great GREAT GREAT Tips. Tip #6 is our pet peeve. On our trip home from California to PA this month, we stopped every night in the dark. We were so tired and stressed by the time we got to PA we made a pact we would not travel that way again no matter what the circumstances were. Now we are on our trip to Arizona (Quartzsite) and we are in a campground by 2 pm. And we are taking a month to get there!
Several things they brought up were excellent! I’ve travelled a bit with my brother and our families... and we are so different! He wants to plan EVERYTHING, eat while driving, run the gas tank to not just empty... but fumes, restrooms be damned... pee in the bottle while we drive. And I... well I’m different, I don’t like those things. LOL!
BTW, a tip for parking at the shopping center lots. Carry with you an orange-striped traffic cone in the track and put it at the entrance into the parking slot in front of you. Works like a charm every time 😃
Great advice....but I just like to see a happy family getting along, enjoying what they are doing. A welcome relief from what is going on in the country today. The video quality is really great. Can't wait for the next video. Thumbs up!
Absolutely fantastic video guys, really truly appreciate y'all. We are getting set up for full time and these have been things we've talked about. Definitely have learned a ton from you. Can't wait to meet y'all again. Safe travels!!
So glad you enjoyed your time in our old home town of Vancouver. Really enjoying your adventures and hope you get a chance to visit us here on Vancouver Island some time in the future. Travel safe and Keep Your Daydream (helps us keep ours.)
Great vid, and very helpful to demystify the border crossing for RV travelers. I cross the US\Cdn border frequently. Random pullovers happen (in either direction) and filming the crossing is not permitted, so viewers should know that it’s best to turn off recording devices when crossing. If you get pulled over and the agents see a camera you may face some “questions”.
Thanks for the tips on how to park a big rig. Love learning how you guys deal with the intricacies of traveling with such a big rig. That is definitely the hardest part for me when out in an rv.
Fueling up with a trailer in less than ideal stations is the reason I carry about 10 gallons of spare fuel in the bed of the truck. You can push past those gas stations knowing you have some reserve.
Holy crap, that's what it looks like at the RV stealer-ship where we bought our new 5th wheel . Rigs on top of each other, with just enough room to walk between them, as long as you don't exhale. Are you sure number 11 isn't just sell your rig and move on? Just saying... All kidding aside your videos are always thought provoking and right on target. The one about trying to do to much in to short of time period is the big one we finally learned a couple years ago. We find it much more enjoyable with a slower pace like you said get off the road by 3 to 4 oclock so you get time to unwind each day. Or just take a couple days and sit tight and really get to know the area you are in. GOOD STUFF.
Your advice fits in many areas of life. I have not been to Vancouver before, but after your videos I will have to visit. I've been to Seattle a lot. There is much to see. We are at the time of year where we watch the snow move up and down the mountains, but will not be long before it moves into the valley for the season. Thanks for you're videos they make my week.
to answer your question, Yes, there is a bylaw that the buildings in that area you were in have a "green tint" in the glass to look consistent. And one reason why it looks like Toronto is the same builder built the highrises in both cities (Concord Pacific)
Great tips that one probably wouldn't think about starting out. I had to laugh with the border agent and his questions. Then Caleb and his jokes-that kid is awesome and cracks me up all the time! I also loved the tip about parking in a shopping center. Something you might not think about until you brought it up about getting parked in! So much to think about when RVing! Thanks again for a fun and informative video! Hugs, Brenda
We spent our h'moon starting in Vancouver and then took the ViaRail train over into Banff (best trip ever btw) and we learned a lot about the Chinese real estate happening in Vancouver where all the buildings go up quickly and are mostly SUPER EXPENSIVE condos or the retail/condo blends and they all look the same just like Chinese cities do. I could be wrong, but our tour guide was fun to listen to!
Great video. Thx for the tips and the border crossing coverage! Also, i actually worked on a project taking place at the Chittenden locks but had never seen them. It is so nice that you videoed part of that lock thru!
Did a trip around the US, 8000 miles in 30 days. Saw a lot but it was an insane schedule, especially when we broke down twice which messed up the schedule and we had to skip some things. Like your way of doing things.
I had to laugh at your “ Do you have reservations “ Been there. Two RV,s in the park. I can see his reservation book is empty as he scans the page.🤬I was tired, hungry and not in the mood. I drove another 200 miles that day😎
14:44 well if you keep the order of the videos its Flowers, trees, and fruit that you record lol but who's counting. Lol I like when you guys stepped of the trailer and she said let's buy oranges before going to the border still remember that video lol to funny.
Good advice on the parking lot parking. We do the same thing. I hate boarder crossings... don't have a lot of experience, but hate the questions. No Jokes for sure!!
Great video! I love the "obvious" tips, it's great that you give us tips throughout the day to day I think they are all useful and some I wouldn't even know enough to ask so thanks again!
Great season following you in Alaska! We live in the Gig Harbor Washington area. We got a toy hauler last year December and have learned a lot from you guys and with our mistakes. We have certainly enjoyed our many outings over the past 10 months. The last time we crossed from Vancouver into Washington it help to wear seahawks gear! Lol, you get asked fewer questions!
Great video as usual! I look forward to Sunday night! And it wasn’t because you were hungry...I hate when people make a big deal out of something and then essentially show you it’s no big deal🙄
Great top 10 tips. I have found it best to take a chill pill prior to departure and when we leave we leave, be it an hour or 3 hours from my target time.
Hey, Vancouveree here 😁. We call these downtown towers bottle-glass castles. Some of them are greenish, others bluish, and yet others are brownish, just like the three most common types of glass bottles. The reasons these towers are so popular in Vancouver are two: 1) We Vancouverees 😅 want as much sunlight as we can get, because summers are cool and winters are gloomy... Which makes floor-to-ceiling windows very desirable. These condos remain light and airy even on the winter's gloomiest day, and the views are to kill for... 2) Vancouver's city councils traditionally believe in population density as a cure to all the typical ills of american city life. Hence they tend to favour high-rise development, especially in the downtown cores and along the mass transit routes. Interesting fact: there's a sizeable Hong Kong diaspora in Vancouver, and one of the theories for why these people flock here en mass goes like this: Vancouver looks like Hong Kong's twin brother -- both are full of bottle-glass castles. I've been to Hong Kong and totally agree, except that Vancouver is not nearly as grandiose and a bit less exotic 😉. Gosh, how the boys have grown up... Haven't watched you for a while, need to catch up 😋
We were searched - truck and trailer-coming into Victoria BC border... my husband was “acting nervous”- which was hilarious since he is a retired police detective.
OMG... You guys hit every point!! Love this video!! My wife & I have Freeze Dried food on hand for the first meal at new locations. They are super simple a ready in 5 minutes! We have also ordered pizza to the RV park as well...lol Love your channel been an avid sub for a long time! Thanks for all the GREAT info and sharing your family ventures!!
Vancouver and Toronto have building codes for near perfect reflection on the water. I'm on Vancouver Island and anything has to be anything you want it to be.
Great video thanks for sharing always. Love all the sights. The questions at the border crossing was insane, so weird. The rv park at check in was rediculous too. Really helpful tips and advice. Have fun!
I'm watching this around 2 am so it was nice and relaxing. Love the music. Great tips. I also love that before the boys answer the border patrol you have to quickly say "no jokes," haha! you know them so well.😂Although Caleb was able to squeeze one out that didn't get y'all pulled over and searched.😁Love y'all. Hope wherever you are at this very moment that you are sound asleep after having an amazing day.😊❤💗❤💗😴

The part about the reservations killed me 🤣 I've HAD reservations and still had that conversation before!
LOL
I'm still laughing at Caleb's response at the border. "Just memories and Joy" LOL
Sherry Vann what a shame they don’t have a sense of humour! Brilliant answer Caleb.

@@hhiippiittyy It must be difficult for you in this age of spell check where no one is taught how to structure a sentence. How did I do?
Annoying but correct...
Haha! The oranges never stop being funny! Great tips!
same here Mark, "Time to go got places to be !" Slow down and smell the roses

Always fun seeing my home through someone else’s eyes
“Let’s go to a museum.” He is a changed man. Haha!
Three days until I pick up my new class C! Getting excited and of course, overthinking where to go and when.
Congrats!
Wow, that Vancouver skyline is amazing. Great tips, even for non-travelers.

“Just some memories and some joy” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA this boy crack me up.
We love your channel, have learned so much from you guy's about the RV life and the lessons you teach. We are getting prepared to start our own journey as well and thanks so much for being a teaching channel we can learn from.
Hey Mark & Trish
I hear you about being in a rush and wanting to get there, I am the worlds worst for AIS (ass in seat) at a set time.
Bob
Super season! Marc, it's not just flowers and fruit, you have a way with vegetables and meats too. Great advice too.
I love that Trish is an honest person! Blueberries! Lol
I'm always in a hurry. Leslie is an overplanner. Very helpful. Thanks guys.
😂
Several things they brought up were excellent! I’ve travelled a bit with my brother and our families... and we are so different! He wants to plan EVERYTHING, eat while driving, run the gas tank to not just empty... but fumes, restrooms be damned... pee in the bottle while we drive. And I... well I’m different, I don’t like those things. LOL!
😂🤣
Great response indeed "memories and joy". That kid can take the show on the road. About the
road how bad was the road from from Alaska to Vancouver.
BTW, a tip for parking at the shopping center lots. Carry with you an orange-striped traffic cone in the track and put it at the entrance into the parking slot in front of you. Works like a charm every time 😃
I'm going to get one!
Nice. You've been here a long time! We're glad you're here.
GOOD STUFF.
👍
Love love love the positivity. You set a good example for the rest of us! :-)
Hugs, Brenda
a great fuel app is, Gas Buddy it gives you local fuel prices and addresses based on your location. You can search by fuel type, and by City
Great list of things to watch when traveling! We’ve experienced some of those as well.
Shirts need to be made up with the "Just some memories and some joy" phrase!! Hilarious.
Absolutely one of my top favorite RV parks.
You guys are such fun! And informative... really enjoy watching.... thank you for sharing.👍
We really enjoyed staying at that campground in Vancouver! Convenient to the city, etc.
great advice guys, looking forward to next week... thanks
Thanks for the tips. Course I’ve already managed to triple learn these tips. Rather take a beating then set up at night. Love you guys.
Lol I like when you guys stepped of the trailer and she said let's buy oranges before going to the border still remember that video lol to funny.
hahaha I fully expected to see Marc trying to eat up a bunch of oranges before crossing the border lol. Fun to watch video as always :-)
Loved your Alaska videos! They were great.
J M really makes you want to go right?
The reasons these towers are so popular in Vancouver are two:
1) We Vancouverees 😅 want as much sunlight as we can get, because summers are cool and winters are gloomy...
Haven't watched you for a while, need to catch up 😋
Nice fruit videography Mark! Loved it!
We have also ordered pizza to the RV park as well...lol
Love your channel been an avid sub for a long time!
Thanks for all the GREAT info and sharing your family ventures!!
WOW now that is what I call a navigator, way to go Trish!!!!
Your spot on with these!...I’ve also learned some of them the hard way
Great Video. Love all your ideas. Trish the Canadian tree is a Maple Tree. Keep up your amazing videos. Always look forward to my Sunday nights.
Oh good grief! The boarder agent absolutely grilled y’all 😂!
Vancouver and Toronto have building codes for near perfect reflection on the water. I'm on Vancouver Island and anything has to be anything you want it to be.
Caleb...Sounds like something a young Mark would of said in his younger days. LMAO!
Great video thanks for sharing always. Love all the sights. The questions at the border crossing was insane, so weird. The rv park at check in was rediculous too. Really helpful tips and advice. Have fun!
Soda day! That's great. We have POP SUNDAY AT MY HOUSE. Great job guys. 👍👍👍
Hope wherever you are at this very moment that you are sound asleep after having an amazing day.😊❤💗❤💗😴
My fav - fill up at 1/2 tank or divorce the SOB if you ever get to Tahoe! No diesel between Sacramento & Tahoe ....now no diesel!!! #GassersRules
Love the Vancouver drive thru background music. Kinds maniacle!
Hi you guys!! Another great video and Vicki and I loved the border crossing lol.
