Back when one could buy an SKS for less than $100. I purchased my first. I picked the best from a rack, and none were factory new. All had seen Militia Service. That was in the mid 1980's. What is seen today is what was overlooked as too embarrassing to sell back then; some may even be assembled from parts, but they all seem to work well enough. Don't expect factory new.
My Classic Firearms story. Called up what was dubiously called Customer Service and I asked them if they ever get consecutively numbered pairs in ..The C.S. person assured me they certainly did.I offered to pay the price of 3 guns for a consecutive pair plus pay someone to sort them. She said it was too much trouble to look and to " just buy two--you never know"-like I was a fool...That was it for me...
Pretty much what I would expect from classic. You'd think they would clean it up before selling it. I have ordered things there, then had to call up and ask did you forget about me? I dont expect much from them.
We are talking CFA here I bet they have a 50 gallon drum of the stuff. I would love to say what CFA stands for but this is family friendly.. Lets go with Customer ( F) and A -another name for a donkey
Cosmo is a military semi or medium long term storage protectant, just because it was cosmolined does necessarily mean it was done correctly , they were likely looking at a pile of thousands to do and were just trying to get through it Also cosmoline isn't a forever solution , as it dries it loses its protective properties , I believe it's only meant for 5 years , some of these guns have been waiting in it for decades so it's common to see rust , pitting , rot on firearms with it
The dead guy was probably still holding it when it was recovered. He was probably decomposing that’s why is so rusty
I like the well used look
Sks is a good gun yours shoots and is reliable thats really all that matters

Every once and awhile you get lucky, but yeah their products are usually underwhelming
Yih
If it was covered in cosmoline it shouldn't have been rusty that stuff could stop a bullet .
