11:25 Thank y'all for the shoutout, I appreciate you!! I'm actually not in college, I'm 20 and self taught, I just am a huge nerd and love making great music so I eat through any information I can get to reach the sound I love and NEEDDD
Antelope Zen Go or Zen Tour. Had a 2nd gen Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 for over 5 years before I upgraded to the Zen Go, the difference in quality is astounding. Everything comes out crisp and mixing isn’t a chore anymore. Been rocking with Antelope since 2021.
I went crazy when i saw the clip from Chris brown page😂😂 im excited for you guys 2024 surely will be big year for you guys. Devvon we want the album too🔥🙌
I loved this episode. They are all great episodes, but sometimes it seems like 1/2 of the episodes are DAW battles, when the DAW is simply only one part of being an "AudioNerd". I like the conversations where you go into the details of using specific programs, or techniques. Just quick thoughts, thank you for all you guys do. Let's go!!!
It's hard to beat the workflow of the Apollo for Artists who record at home. Autotune and other plugins, unison preamps with virtually no latency. I have the x4 and x6. I also have the Apogee Symphony Desktop which sounds amazing but no Autotune or reverb with direct monitoring. I mix with it sometimes though. I do like the Apollo conversion though. Sounds analog
If you’re a producer who records a lot of artists, upgrade from UAD when you a chance. If you’re an artist, upgrade when you can. If you’re a producer and not an artist and don’t need a ton of ins, it’s a great audio interface. 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
RME fireface UFX or Focusrite Clarette (don’t sleep on that) or you can Adat the Clarett Octopre. My tip for LJ. Buy that Behringer Euro rack mixer and plug all your synths into that and then plug the output of the mixer into your audio interface. Or if you want to be elite. Synths > Mixer > Radial JDI passive > Mic Preamp (Focusrite ISA or a dual 1073, BAE maybe) > Audio Interface (Line In)
I currently have an Audient Evo 4, but I'd like to upgrade to something with more direct monitoring, DSP, and multi headphone capabilities, so maybe the ID14 MKII or something similar.
I really love the Presonus studio series interfaces the pre amps are amazing and the blue and black color on the inter face make it looks sexy. And the metering on the front of the interface is cool too. I use the studio 68c right now but i am currently getting their 1824c interface which i have used at my school and it sounds awesome. love presonus stuff
The apogee symphony desktop has the same converters with the symphony and has 3 inbuilt preamps, gives you the ability to print plugins in your Daw, you can use it without the laptop with its touch screen features. Devon you knowntgis though
Colt caperune talks about running his mix thru preamps, and I think there’s a vid with produce like a pro and Jaycen Joshua talking about his old outboard before, and he did something similar
Depends I think of the music you’re gonna do…..I think the Apollo for rap can’t be beat, being able to run C-suite Vox ON THE WAY IN…..seriously gives you a vocal booth….no exaggeration….i couldn’t believe when I got that C-Suite Vox…..but I say for rap cuz I’m not sure you’d like the conversion as much as some others….i do because it adds color and a slight harmonic to my voice.
Yo! Get'em L.J.! I've got my first 2 interfaces in the spare closet right now. PalmTop Studio PS-04...and...Digidesign MBox 2, I've still got Pro Tools LE loaded on my Apple PowerMac G4 QuickSilver. It all still works as a standalone home studio (EST. 2006)😅
First interface I used was an M-Audio Air series (probably the old version whatever it was called). Used it at a live gig. First interface I produced on was the Behringer UM2 the one with the RCA connectors at the back plugged into my church's speakers 😂. First interface I owned was the M-Audio M-Box Duo and upgraded from there to the Presonus Revelator iO24. I don't do a lot of recording so for now any interface could probably do.
Hi guys. About the Austrian Audio Mics: OC818 - Dual Capsule/Dual Output, switchable Polar Paterns, Pads and Filters OC18 - Single Capsule, cardioid pattern, Pads and Filters OC16 - Single Capsule (same as OC18) but no Pads
Yoooooo Devvon, I didn’t know you had an album out called “Weird Nights 2” ?? I missed the promotion of it somehow. Next time you have an album out yall might have to dedicate a whole episode to promoting it, talking about what instruments/vst’s you used or plugins you used on the mix. I know you were saying you stayed up for days mastering your music, not for sure if this is the album you were mastering, I can’t wait to check it out tho. I found out about it because I was checking for the Album you recorded with the RME interface (Deja Vu vol 2). Also, I know you mess with “Mix with The Masters, do you ever use any of the free plugins that came with the subscription?
🤓The audient id24 is a decent Swiss Army knife interface..it has decent conversion, daw control and channel inserts for like $400? Could be a dope portable option..easy to insert hardware in to your signal chain on the go since you all frequent lots of studios and have access to tons of gear..just a thought 💭
The Neumann MT 48 is 100% worth the money fr, the preamps are HIGH HIGH quality baseline and the onboard EQ and Dynamics sections make tracking a breeze. I'm a singer and work in voiceover, Neumann cracked the code with this one
Hey Devon I have the uad Apollo Twin and really need a rack space unit I remember in your older video studio tour you were using the rme with the blue and grey face would you been able to give me a percentage difference in conversion quality
another banger...aight yall I need some advice ..I got a nt1a and Focusrite solo ...im lookin to upgrade to an Apollo solo or twin (prolly solo) and an sm7b...what yall think I should get first ? should I keep the Focusrite and upgrade the mic or keep my nt1a and upgrade to Apollo ..eventually ill get both but what yall think would be best to get first?? appreciate any help
Can I get y’all’s opinion, I use a Behringer U-Phoria UMC1820 interface it has 18 ins/20 outs which is what I’m wanting since I’m a producer/musician/artist, the only thing when I record my vocals I have to crank my gain pretty high to record at the levels I need too, Im looking for something that can add clean gain and give life to my recordings, I don’t have a big budget for a pre amp and compressor but I can definitely save for one or the other, what do you recommend? Also I use an AKG C414b XLS microphone
How come yall don't ever mention the Lynx Aurora (n)? Same price as the Apollo x8 for much better conversion. Modular like an apogee without the added color. Transparent as can be and has solid drivers like RME. 🤷♂
LJ Bro If I was You I would really consider the Arturia AudioFuse 16 Do Some Research I Really Think That Would be Great For You Or The ANTELOPE AUDIO DISCRETE 8 PRO I Think For You These Would Be Great
Vintage King Has The Antelope Discrete 8 Pro For Under $1,700 And The Focusrite RED 8Line Is Amazing But Very Hard To Find After The Chip Shortage But Quality And Future Proof
Y'all I'm still confused on this: do interfaces affect the quality of bounces? Like, if I bounce a file on an Apollo and then an RME, will I hear the difference? Some say yes and others say no.
I Don't Like Apollo Interfaces Purely Because Of The Popularity Of It Lol, Devon Im Surprised you didn't consider the Lynx Aurora Its Also Modular But I Do Love The Apogee Symphony You Can Rock With That For The Next 15+ Years If You Choose That's A True Workhorse And I Love The Apogee Company
The only thing that made me return the mbox studio is the adat. When you add an adat to it, it takes over outputs 1-8 it doesn’t add 8 more outputs to make 16. Terrible decision by avid. They had the same issue when they came out with the Omni 🤦🏻♂️
Question for the engineers, when you receive a session, particularly from a producer. What sound needs the most work/replacement? I’m guessing it’s the kick. I know engineers that replace a producers kick and don’t even tell them. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I know a lot of people like to 💩 on the scarlet. And understandable. But most people when get the scarlet go solo, 2i2 or 2i4. I gotta 2nd gen 18i8 dude!!!! My guys like it more than the Apollo. It also sounds 20x better than any of the scarlet 3rd gen even with the air mode on.
Put Antelope in the converter / interface convo!!! Antelope Orion Studio Rev17 $1100 10 XLR/Line Ins 2x8 Dsub Outs Converters shit on UAD CHEAPER than an Apollo
@@HelpMeDevvon yes bro! I got mine for $1100 mid 2023 so I’d have enough in/outs to sum through thru the SSL SiX. Completely shit on the Apollo Twin I used to use. Even tho we making fun of the focus rite one xlr one headphone jack meme there a company called irig and they make a one plug interface that works for iPhone and android and computers and I love it. I started with that in 2010 then I got the duo pro and I loved them so much I ended up getting the irig Quattro it als is its own mic and 😍 I vouch for that bad boy can record a podcast and my self with a travel type interface like wow @irig hook these guys up so they can see what I mean
Not putting ANY respect on Audient is insane. Y’all be killin me. The ID44 has more ins and outs, better converters than the Apollos for less than $800. Stop it. We gotta get you a unit or something

Audient Evo 16 $549
Devvon I just wanna say it’s so inspiring to see you go from recording in your bedroom to recording in a studio. You really came up bruh 🔥

Evo 8 or 16, multitrack, multi headphone, no dsp but adat and optical, standalone. Same preamps though so depends if you like them
I seem to be alone, but I love my Zoom L-12 mixer! Audio interface, can record many separate channels in the DAW, works great for me!
Love y’all! Hope to sit on the couch with y’all eventually 🙌 🙌 looking forward to a great year of podcasts fr! ❤️ Happy New Year y’all

I just bought Quantum H2
Happy New Year! Apogee Element 24 is still killing! MT48 and RME also dope.
The Audient stuff is next level but still patiently waiting for UAD to update the Apollo range for 2024.
Apolo solo is amazing as a budget friendly UAD interface that I upgraded from the Scarlett.

It's crazy yall started off with the topic of summing and reamping because I'm LITERALLY working on passive summing and re-amplifier schematics.
Colt caperune talks about running his mix thru preamps, and I think there’s a vid with produce like a pro and Jaycen Joshua talking about his old outboard before, and he did something similar
By the way, love the podcast. I'm a FullSail Alumni (August 2019) and I'm a Logic Pro X user. The best overall DAW. LOL

Using a UAD 76 but I want that RME!
I’ve been searching about re amping I know it would sound good.
watching and listening to this on a Behringer U-PHORIA UMC1820 and it sounds great.
Motu rack mount or the desktop versions got the best preamps. Plus they have a five year warranty no questions asked
