Salute from Amsterdam! I'm loving the podcast and I watched like 25 episodes in the past couple of days! One thing though: Saying "Can I be honest?" and "I'm not gonna lie / I ain't gonna lie" 100000 times per episode is crazy :) Is that a local thing? Do people lie so much over there that you constantly HAVE TO express that you're being truthful? ;)
Came here bc I’m thuggin off the same mid 2012 MacBook Pro I started wit. Had to see what y’all was Tahm bout yuheame 🤞🏽 still on it bc errybody got their first project done on it but me. It’s my turn now yadigg.
Lol well that depends most people have windows computers and think they have a bad system which you don’t at all. The difference between windows and apple. You can always add more RAM or build to your liking or what you need for the studio.
Bro i didnt know. They said these were the specs you need. I got the bare minimum now I’m hearing there is an industry minimum. There are “RULES TO THIS SHIT” and like Too Short I’m saying fck this shit. Still gon buy it.
I love you guys but I’m telling you LOGIC IS BEAT FOR RECORDING ORGANIZATION BEST from color to moving. To labeling. Everything. In terms of tracking and organizing is fire. Which makes mixing seem less. It’s so fire. I can’t make a beat in it to save my life. I hate the sampler but piano roll decent. And mixer and arrangement window are fire. DEVVON
Yoooo, the plugin that I miss is Accusonas Regroover. They just folded on me!!! It was plugin separation for drum loops. Btw, I have zero cracked plugins.
I have a midrange gaming PC. GPU isnt necessary but my RAM(32gb) & CPU AMD 3600 work very efficiently for most tasks. I throw the kitchen sink at it & have no latency issues.
Here is the worthwhile upgrade path every producer takes. Everything else (plugins, hardware, more plugins, all plugins) are cope when not taking steps 1-3 seriously. 1. Decent headphones 2. The best PC available 3. The best studio space you can build in any given room All of these will always beat any cope purchase you make.
Devon Bruh Finally a compliment on Presonus Studio One with the click removal feature and then... Just upgraded from my IMac 2017 desktop with 8GB Ram and 1TB of storage. I went with a Mac Studio that has 64GB Ram & 2TB of storage! I hope this runs smoothly for my setup!! Everything is so painful to get done on my IMac. Insanely frustrating and dreadful! $3500 🫠
Yes and no. For music only, perhaps, but the trio of Logic, Cubase and S1 can't rule each other out as they are massively similar. For audio work that goes beyond music, (post production, virtual reality, film, live, recording, game audio), absolutely no shot! To hammer home point 1 a bit further: Logic has AI stem separation, AI session players and a solid iPad -> Mac workflow. Cubase has the best sample browser on the market, AI vocal separation (+ full stem separation at an additional cost, probably the best sounding one as well) and a boolean automation tool for all sorts of tedious DAW functionality. S1 has a mastering suite, advanced drag & drop functionality, modern MIDI tools (chord strumming etc.), the most advanced & easy to use Dolby Atmos integration (both Apple + Dolby renderers) All of these are like top of my head. Probably the big standout features anyway. I have licenses to all 3 and know how similar they are, while still having different, unique features. Btw, FL Studio lacks like all of them 👍and surely another 80% of all the other, shared features.
The RAM price is super high with Mac but to be fair you don’t need a lot. It uses the SSD as RAM too. I got an M1 Pro with 16gb RAM and I never had a problem. I don’t even think about it. I do music and video production
I've only had the JBLs and HS8s, but the JBLs stack up real nice and are more of a question of preference. The HS8s are very clear im the high end, while having rather shallow depth and smaller of a sweet spot
I think LJ is talking about how the audio clips are independent of the tracks in the playlist. You can make them unique and route them however you want. Working with vocals in FL feels more like producing than mixing where as pro tools and logic follow a more linear path. It’s pretty much impossible to have the same freedom.
You can copy a vocal take to a new track, which has a new mixer channel in any other daw, the same thing. To me that is more mixing than it would be in any other daw, because you’d have to manually route things instead of it just being routed unless I’m missing something?
@@MaximusWhyman Yeah of course but the workflow allows you to freely route WHATEVER, HOWEVER you want. And the modularity of it operates more like building blocks rather than working in time. Idk it’s kinda hard to explain and can get really messy but I understand where he might be coming from.
@@damnrney I get it, I have FL studio and use it. I’m just not as fast on it as other daws. For myself, I understand that you can do that, but I don’t understand why it would be faster? In other daws, when you copy a part over to a new track, it automatically routes to a mixer. In FL, you’d have to physically do this. Adding another step to me is a waste of time
M1 Max's have better Single Core Performance and don't use as much efficiency cores compared to M2 Max's and M3 Max's. M Ultra line, can't go wrong with any of them. The only DAW that fully uses the efficiency cores is REAPER from what I've researched.
While the ram price with Mac is outrageous, in general soldered ram usually allows for faster speeds and better performance and lower power draw. There is currently a portable removable ram standard coming out that’s aiming to rectify the drawbacks of removable ram, will Apple adopt it? Probably not. But that ram price gouging is nuts. Personally if the ram upgrades were cheaper and started with 32gb no one would complain. But that 8gb not then 200$ for 16 not gonna fly
Don’t sleep on the M2’s you know - i’m running a Mac Mini M2 8gb ram 512gb ssd with barely any issues and I run enough plugins in my projects for production, mix & master. Big upgrade from my 16gb ram 512gb ssd 2017 intel MBP 2.9ghz which was hurt 😂.
What are you doing with 8gb of RAM? I need 128gb and might have to do a dual PC setup either way 😅 All of these are sample libraries (obviously), but still 8GB??!?!?!??
@@patrick5301 That's what I thoughttt, trust me I went back and forth online to make sure I was making the right decision but within budget constraints I needed something to replace my 2017 MBP which is on it's last legs. Thing is these M2's are smooth and it's not just 8gb ram it has memory swap so if needed it uses ram from the SSD (which i've monitored and it's not over using).
@@nvisionbeats I feel you. I got rid of my m1 mac mini 16gb two years ago as I was at least using 25gb + at all times and now I have a 900 track orchestral template baked in to my pop / whatever production template because like, why not. It's useful every now and again 🙃
I have an m1 macbook air that gives me good battery life and a 1k$ self built tower pc that beats the m2 ultra chip in benchmarks. Blud this cost me 2 grand
A lot of new plugins crash on m1 m2 along with Gui issues. Intel is still the most stable. Can anyone speak to whether it’s better to stay on intel for a bit till things get sorted, or should we jump to m1 m2?
I just made the worst mistake of my life with Apple. 😂😂😂😂I just bought Mac Studio Ultra, it came with Sequoia and I can’t downgrade. I’m dead right now. 😂😂😂
Mmmm I hear the Apple ram argument often but, we are talking about SOC obnoxiously fast memory…definitely not one and the same with currently available external ram. If 64gb of ram on a HP was one in the same spec and performance wise and Apple was just inflating the price I could understand that..but this ram is so fast having an abundance of it is not really as necessary as it used to be..it’s hyper efficient..for us in the audio world having more dedicated performance cores is of more importance and even then..the older m1 pro’s are still killin heavy sessions with ease🤷🏾♂️ IMHO
Bro is yapping. The pre-order was 120 and the current update from v11 to v12 is 199. Either he is talking about CAD, or an update from a very old version. I just double checked my Ableton account and it most definitely is 199.
I wrote a long, principled comment on why this can't be true so l don't want to explain again 😅 But Logic Pro, S1 and Cubase share 90% of the feature set, with Logic Pro arguably still being the smaller software of them. Either way, the Logic, Cubase, Studio One approach to workflow and feature set must be present for something to even be considered "complete"
Bro apple chose to solder the SSDs onto MAC motherboards since 2016... and they overcharge 4x the price per TeraByte. When your SSD fails (and it will cuz it's like tires on a car) They will charge you to replace your WHOLE MOTHERBOARD with ALL OTHER GOOD COMPONENTS ON IT. DAMN!!!
