I’m so glad I found y’all, theres not much content in Mexico to consume this topics and nerd the eff out too. Love the SSL channel strip shout, that’s FIRE. I’m hoping to try the Rosetta soon heard great stuff about it.
Leaving Audient outta the interface conversation is WILD. Especially considering they make an interface for $399 that offers balanced inserts to use outboard gear and it runs dual cirrus logic A/D and D/A. Not to mention the preamps on each of their interfaces are the EXACT same ones as in the Heritage consoles. They even did a shootout of each unit compared to the consoles. The exact same. Not like how other audio companies lie about.
Thanks so much for these videos! This channel has helped me so much along these past 4 years when it comes to producing and editing my own vocals. I always listened to the living weirdo covers since 2013. I currently am working on something really special to be released in October! A debut EP and it would not be possible without his vocal chains and mastering chains. A true Godsend
I can see u guys getting someone like Pharrell or Timbaland to stop by soon. this is a brilliant podcast, produced amazingly and overalll im super proud of u DT and gang, much love and respect.
Interface: RME Babyface Pro FS. Im hearing things I haven't heard in records I've been listening to for years! Such good quality and pres are good enough to use if I didn't already have outboard ones (cheaper but also great option: Audient ID14 Microphone: Nuemann TLM 102 (My fav before I upgraded to the Manley Ref C). Detailed, well balanced. Pre: WA TB12. So much versatility and different flavors. API style touch. Brings mics to life with a big sound. Vintage, clean, in between, you name it. Compressor: BLA 1176. I track my rap vocals with this beast. Punchy, aggressive, consistent vox. Just watch the input knob so you dont squash too much (unless you want to)
No lie, I don't like or watch podcasts. HOWEVER, this podcast keeps me watching, laughing, and keeps me locked in. Everyone on the show has great chemistry, and it works great for us as the audience! Also, I am a Best Buy appliance and TV repair tech. Think I've heard Best Buy shout-outs before from Devon and now Insignia 😂
My official first setup (I was making music before, but with other people's equipment, borrowed homestudios, radio studios I worked in, etc): M-Audio Fast track Pro + Behringer C4 Mic + Dual Core PC with 4GB RAM and ofc, the Fruity (Eyepatch and peg leg edition LOL). Plus a Novation Nocturne 25 Keyboard and some cheapo PC Speakers, not even monitors, and my (still used to this day) Senheiser HD201 headphones.
Recording lead vocals and bgv's on different mics is a good idea. Doja Cat's engineer has done this before. I only have one mic so I'll be switching from a vintage tube micpre for leads to a vintage solid state micpre for bgv's. Reflection filters are a waste of space and make me anxious since I can't see the screen.
No Cap I heard about the Rosetta EQ From my boy “bought it as-well”🔥🔥🔥 and found out this is a really Cool Channel!!! Dope Podcast to!!! Shoutout to My Full Sail Family!!!
My very first setup (2012) Dell Laptop, 4GB Ram, 500GB HD (I think i forgot), FL Studio M Audio Fast Track (1 Mic Input XLR, 1 Guitar Input, RCA output) M Audio Producer USB Microphone Random Sony Earphones (Not Studio Quality just complete random earphones) No Studio Monitors sadly
There's actually a youtube to mp3 application i have, the logo is a a stick figure guy with a microphone for a head! you guys should deff look into it!
Podcast Drinking game. Someone says "shoutout", drink. Courtney speaks, drink. Someone's age is mentioned, drink. Someone says OD, drink. LJ roasts Behringer, drink. , Devon says real talk, drink....haha, all fun. Much love. Great Podcast.
Y’all the truth. Devvon I’m ur intern u don’t even know it 😂 naw fr u taught me a lot. The way u explain and everything is dope thanks broodie. Stay doin y’all. All of y’all. ATM Nikko 🚀
Ya'll jokas funny. I am so glad ya'll turned LJ's mic up.. lol.. Bruh, my first mic, was me figuring I made a mistake pllugging the headphones in the mic jack and it picked me up.. Reealistic,, Radio shackk.. lol.. I have no idea how but it worked.. Hearing ya'll talk about this gear, I was like wow.. We didn't have computers, we had to 2 tape decks. That was the studio.. lol.. Oh my young fellas.. You took me back to momz house.. lol.. Outstanding show.. Cortney, talk more. That joka funny and be saying some poop... WHEN HE TALKS.. lol.. Excellent work guys.. Off topic nuances are hilarious too..
Yes I have the alcotron foam ball.. it causes mad comb filtering in the mid range and is almost impossible to remove.. I find alternative methods to record or just go untreated
I started with Acid Pro and the M-Audio Delta 44 (PCI card with a 4 ins x 4 out break out box.) I also had a Mackie 1202 mixer for my AT4033 because i needed the Phantom Power
My first setup was in 2015 . BeatsbyDre HP laptop, Eleca eBox interface no phantom power with a Neewer usb mic from eBay 🤣 I was a rookie. Sony speakers and an Akai mpk mini running a “gifted” copy of FL 10 from a friend
Bout to date myself like shit, but my first setup was the M-Audio Delta 44 with a MCA microphone and Behringer mixer. DAW was Cool Edit Pro and Fruity Loops, yes Fruity Loops, not FL.
im pretty sure the solo has the same pre amps -converters as the other high end apollo i did ALOT of research on low budget interfaces before buying it it held up WELL and i love the sound
LOL #shoutout Audacity that was me too @courtney, first daw Audacity - with some mic i bought off amazon for like 50 bucks with the shock mount and pop filter. What a trip... Than I upgraded to the super shure sm55 ... and the saga is to be continued.
Shout out to Newer for making that mic. NW 800 That was my first XLR Mic and it did the job well for so cheap man. If you just starting out and only tryna spend like 30 on a mic def pick that up.
Mic Screens are great, imo. You just have to adjust the Width. The closer the Screen is to the Mic, the less Reflections you'll record. You basically just record the direct Signal and not the Reflections from the Walls, if you adjust them correct. Actually a pretty cheap Way to record in an untreated Environment.
yea the YT to mp3 shit sites are going down ngl but my "technique" for ripping shit off the internet is turning my main outputs to virtual outputs and then record that on the DAW.
Best Under $1k Mic: Austrian Audio OC18 Interface: RME Babyface Pro Fs Preamp: Golden Age Premier PRE-73 DLX Compressor: Golden Age Comp-3A Monitors (Pair): Focal Alpha 80's
I love this podcast so much. BUT i still have the same issue with it majority of episodes which is Courtney seems to be a passenger and that’s not because he doesn’t have things to say the issue is Devvon and LJ have these dominating personalities which just drown Courtney out especially when LJ interrupts him when he finally gets a chance to speak.
I might be really showing my age by saying this but the Presonus Audiobox 96 isn't trash. It is so solid for its price! But I come from an era that didn't have all the great options thats out today. And what we did have was super expensive and wasn't plug and play. It was horrible. Yall are spoiled for real. 😂😂
They’re often praised but often overlooked as well. I’m happily using an Audient interface and for 99% sure that my next interface will be Audient again. I tend to think it’s the best choice in a certain price range and a great choice in general.
1st setup. Scarlett 18i20 ii, AT2050, Pair of ResolvSe8. Have upgraded all of them by now, but still own and use every one regularly.
I’m so glad I found y’all, theres not much content in Mexico to consume this topics and nerd the eff out too. Love the SSL channel strip shout, that’s FIRE. I’m hoping to try the Rosetta soon heard great stuff about it.
This is truly one of 2 podcast that I listen to consistently. I love hearing the different perspective.

You are absolutely right and I’m gonna bring this up soon!

Eye Fatigue Is Wild Af 🤣😂🤣😂
It’s a real thing tho. It feel like a muscle strain but in your eye
Rockin with this pod. Dope episode for a beginner artist and engineer as myself
Man I’ve been seeing y’all for a minute. Finally said lemme sub. Great shit.
My first setup was Cool Edit Pro 2 with an M-Audio Fast Track Preamp and a AKG Perception 100 microphone lol

Every time Devvon says he gone cut out stuff LJ say at the end, he always leave it in (pause) 😂 y'all literally national treasures
Audient interfaces are solid, plus you can get your youtube to mp3 without a website with the loopback system.
There's actually a youtube to mp3 application i have, the logo is a a stick figure guy with a microphone for a head! you guys should deff look into it!
i had the samsung co1u when i first started had to be maybe 16 u been doing this for a good minute my guy
That “Gospel music has the best mixes” statement was so spot on

It's the "OD" for me😭

My first audio interface was the m audio mbox 2
Damn I was blessed, my first setup was an iMac with Pro Tools 9, an Mbox, and an AT2020

i swear i feel like we all just smoked and having a music convo, loved this!
Favourite podcast to watch by far!
I use the Cranborn 500R8, but the black lion Revolution was amazing Especially for hip hop because it had such a spacious big sound.
Same setup except I had a Samson C01 and my mixer was a Behringer I bought for phantom power. I ran Acid up to version 4.
My first first setup was double sided tape recorder with a built-in mic and we had to record entire songs in one take
ssl2+ lets u record youtube directly into fl studio playlist with loopback feature, no youtube to mp3 needed.
1st setup was a Steinberg UR 22 MKII,KRK ROKIT 8 CLASSIC,AKG P420,M20 X,SENNHEISER HD 203'S
Also was really hoping you Guys Reviewed the UA volt due to it's active FET design and built in Compressors.
Tjovitjo🔥🔥🔥
Bout to date myself like shit, but my first setup was the M-Audio Delta 44 with a MCA microphone and Behringer mixer. DAW was Cool Edit Pro and Fruity Loops, yes Fruity Loops, not FL.
I had that dell desktop with an ECHO Darla sound card & SHURE KSM27 back in them FL 4 days lol
Have you guys gotten the opportunity to hear the He-1 by Sennheiser. 60,000 setup. If so id love to hear your thoughts on it.
Wonderful show! Just fyi Behringer is actually more popular for their modular analog synthesizers...some of best designs money can buy.
Also the Behringer SX3040 V2 is one of the best exciters on the market.
Love the podcast please put in a photo of whatever you guys are talking about like: when you say a name of a plugin it appears on the screen..
The old Behringer studio monitors was based on the old box Genelecs…..they been knocking off for a long time
Doesn't Core audio on Mac OS natively have loop back functionality for any audio interfaces?
im pretty sure the solo has the same pre amps -converters as the other high end apollo i did ALOT of research on low budget interfaces before buying it it held up WELL and i love the sound
Would you guys be able to discuss producer and engineer's contracts...you guys are🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The preamp on the Apollo Solo is the same unison preamp on the other apollow interfaces

A Reflection filter made my records 60% cleaner in untreated room💯💯I still own it in a treated room
This topic was so useful
How about the VMS mic? ‘Your rich’ is wild 😅
Why no body mention the Clarett 2 pre?
Yo u got a really nice studio setup
Surprised you all didn’t mention the volt. I rock with the Volt
yea the YT to mp3 shit sites are going down ngl but my "technique" for ripping shit off the internet is turning my main outputs to virtual outputs and then record that on the DAW.
One thing I learned today is I haven’t tried out many interfaces 😂
What about Antelope inteface?
Very funny episode! keep it up!
the pre amp isnt the same only the x has the same as the higher up the twin is def astep back

@@josephschmizzo1595 And it's not f***ing with the RME. I learned the hard way with this Apollo X4 that I'm now having a hard time selling. 😆
