If you are new to the Mac, thinking about switching to Mac from a Windows PC, or if you just need to brush up on the basics of the Mac OS, then THIS IS THE CLASS FOR YOU!
You're great at teaching! I followed along and OOPS! used the split screen. My main window went full screen and dock vanished! Took me awhile to find HOW TO esc(ape)/exit. (When you get DESKTOP and your WINDOW to show at top of screen, hit the TINY window's green button.) I will be adding a bookmark "shortcut tab" to your website upon my browser "menu" list. That said, if you have a video focusing more on TIME MACHINE, I would love to know the title of it, in case I have trouble finding it. Always found this a bit confusing, by discernment. For example, I do not like my information floating around upon come CLOUD. Thank You! May God Bless
Thank you for the information. I'm new to a MacBook. I purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro Retina 15.4-inch 2013. 16GB. Currently watching this while doing cardio.
I Am brand new to the Mac and I have a 2013 Mac and I need to learn everything you know about this computer thank you very much I truly appreciate your time you have a great rest of your day😎😎😎!
I switched from a PC to Mac in the fall. You have made that transition as painless as possible. My biggest challenge was photos as I am 70 and have a bunch of photos without metadata organized on my PC. The ability to change the time stamp which you suggested has been a blessing. I have uploaded genealogy pictures over the years and just dated them in the year 3000 to keep them separate in photos. But then made folders/albums for them. The folder/albums was the most strange thing to understand as with a PC it is all just folders. It seems to have worked. Do you have a better suggestion? Some of these are actually tin types from the early days of photography. Of all the teachers out there, and I have watched many videos, you are truly the best. Thank you again for your great teaching.
What a great Mac teacher! I often help colleagues with their Mac skills and refer to this presentation because the content is easy to follow. For many colleagues, I recommend watching the program in 10-minute segments - just to prevent overload. Thanks for your professionalism, Tony!
I happen to work with GeekSquad and have clients that are always asking for lessons on how to use their Apple Device. As I have been a PC user for the past 30+ years, and have only recently moved to the Mac for my personal and business use; I generally just tell them to go to RUclips. Now I have a specific location to send them to. Thank you SO MUCH!!! Your videos, in my opinion, are expertly put together and the way that you present the material is engaging and easy to follow.
Thank you so much. I am an older "senior" Mac user and have learnt and continue to learn so much from your videos. A breath of fresh air. Clear, concise and an absolute please to watch and listen too.
THANK U VERY MUCH DEAR DAVID, I AM A PENSIONER OLD LADY, FROM ISRAEL, AND ONLY THANKS TO U, I USE MY MACBOOK AIR, WHICH TOOK ME QUITE A TIME TO BUY... I KNOW IT SHALL TAKE ME LONG TO, ENJOY 100 PERCENT BUT YOUR TUTORING IS SO EASY TO FOLLOW, THAT I GIVE MY ALL TO PICK UP, THOUGH IT TAKES ME TIME...TO ABSORB.. SO SORRY U ARE LEAVING US, WISH U LOADS OF SUCCESS AND SATISFACTION..
Me too.... I just got my MacBook Air 2020 5 days ago and I am pulling my hair. I know I have go watch some videos of tutorial and give myself a couple of weeks to get used to Mac. I'm starting to like the Mac but there is just so much to re-learn how to use a laptop. Lol.... Keep it up comrade
My MacBook Pro 2012 has been getting slower with each OS upgrade. Apple support over the phone, cleaned out the toxic build up of useless unused rubbish and installed Catalina which will be my last system upgrade.Noticable improvement Your guide has taught me a lot and above all I found a previous owner had turned ON the FILEVAULT option. Turned it off - came back after de-encryption -new computer-fast -smooth gone is the spinning pizza at every turn. Magic. Thanks a million Chris C
Great video. Been doing PCs since dos 3.0. Left Microsoft when Windows came on the scene going to Linux. A few years later followed my eldest son into the Mac world after he requested a Mac for his college engineering classes. Your classes have been a huge help. Thanks.
Well done - easy to follow. I learned a bunch. Everyone thought I was crazy to switch to Mac from PC at my age (58 - which isn't that old, thank you very much!). I learned AND my 27 year old, 10 year Mac user, daughter learn as well.
I am thrilled that I found you. I just bought a Mac desktop and already have a iPad and I phone. Am transitioning my PC to Mac because I am starting a Voice Over career. An Audacity guru downloaded that fir me but on this site I can get everything else I need.
I was taking notes, so had to periodically pause him to go look and see what he was talking about. I will probably watch again after trying to do all these basic moves on my own. Yes, VERY helpful, especially if you are a windows person! I'm also a lotus 123 person and one of my main reasons for the MAC is to get away from Lotus! Yes, I do recommend this tech talk!
I have a new imac, and I am so pleased to have found your channel. I have never found anyone who is as clear as you in explaining what I need. I've even managed to use imovie for the first time and uploaded to you tube succesfully Yaay, if like me, you are an old technophobe RUclipsr, then this channel is the one you need.
Just got my new MacBook Air today and you were a huge help. I also did the organizing photographs last week on my old MacBook and made the folders by years. Now just need to work on getting that on the new computer. Thank u am will donate to Venmo. You are really good!
Thank you David. I played your class immediately after upgrading to Catalina. Although I’m an experienced Mac user, I found many of your tips very helpful.
Thank you so much! I got my iMac 2 days ago. I’m new to the Mac and I’m over 40! This oughta be fun! Your video is great! Very informative and easy to follow! I’m a new subscriber. As soon as this COVID crap ends and I get back to work, my donation is on its way!! Thanks again
Your folders are very interesting which I only just noticed watching a second time to brush up on Catalina. This along with everything happening in the news...the rug from Big Lebowski...now it all makes sense.
After you started your business, I contacted you, I bought from you 2 apps for investment ideas, I think the price about $150.00 And you had the courtesy to talk with me over the phone 2 o 3 times, so I would learn how wow to use them. I made some money using the apps. I am-now almost 84 years old, and still learning from your classes. (My grand children thin I am insane) Keep-doing a good work.
Now if you had a class on my new iPad, that would be amazing! I've been waiting to update to Catalina until I hear enough people give the thumbs up. Definitely want to make sure if there's good reason to update and take the time. Thanks for the video and refresher! I have a mixed tech experience-iMac, iPad, Note 9 (that I love more than I should), iPhone XS (for work, which I don't care for). Switched to Mac about two years ago and while I do like it, I'm a lifelong PC user who used Windows 7 last and didn't have a loyalty to either OS, but I think MacOS is easier to learn quickly. There's a great logic to it.
David, I love, love, love, love, love your videos! I started using Macs a few years ago and your vids helped me, a long-time Windows power user. I love this video because you help me to keep up with the really cool changes in the Apple ecosytem and learn the new things they’ve come up with. I’m already using them. Wow! Thanks so much.
I’m switched from a Windows OS to the new MacBook Pro Catalina OS. I was completely lost until I found your channel. From dozens to choose from I picked yours. I want to thank you so much. You are teaching me so much. I immediately subscribed to your channel! (One question if you don’t mind. How do I fax documents? Is there a free program that you can recommend?) Thank you! 😉
As always, your Mac videos are clear, helpful, and very well done. I couldn't have made the transition from PC to Mac without TechTalk America. Thank you!
Been saving up to get my first mac after years of being frustrated by using windows. This really helped me. Will be subscribing and watching some more videos. Hopefully I can find some using Big Sur.
You DO talk fast! I accidentally discovered that my space bar paused and played you, allowing me to experiment while following along--but I need to have clicked into your screen for that to work. I would like a table of contents of what you will cover so that I could follow along--in the form of a PDF or a sidebar menu, and/or title headings to allow me to scrub through to review pertinent instruction. Also, it would be nice to have a QA forum--something more specific than the general comments in this comment section. Maybe a troubleshooting QA? I really appreciated your links, your overview, and your easy-to-follow lecture-demo format. Good work! I will make an effort to support your work. I found and bookmarked some of your videos from your playlist. As I am new to Mac I need to get back my previous functionality--fast so thanks for covering Numbers and Pages 2019. Requests: I am having trouble integrating my iMac and iPhone (e.g., iPhone "times out" so I can't import photo, and the iPhone doesn't show in the Finder). Other topics of interest: merge/combine Google Chrome with the Apple world would be helpful, using two monitors (not an iPad), using Notes vs Reminders, using Photo Booth...THANKS!
Hey, I am really happy to have your videos as I am new to the Mac. I have never found something similar in Germany. Well done, you are explaining in an excellent way!!!
Thank you for these great tutorials! I have some MAC knowledge from about 7 years ago and your videos completely fill in the gaps (plus help me with the new features). Easy to follow and I look forward to watching more as I'm now a subscriber.
Thanks for this. It’s been about 4 years since I’ve used MacOS and I’m new to Catalina. I’ll be getting the new MacBook Air in a few days and this is a great refresher.
Hi David I recently upgraded to Catalina and found your video to be extremely helpful - thanks very much for taking the time to put it together and would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas!
I could say I found that incredibly useful, you're a wonderful teacher, you've saved me time and given peace of mind I've worked through my computer while watching you; or I could just say I've made a Paypal donation, enough said.
This video was really important for me to learn the basics about my new macbook pro operating system. Thank you so much sir. Your videos are very much appreciated. Keep up the good work.
I am so glad I found your channel! I've always used a PC but since I have an Iphone, I'm really trying to get the hang of this older MacBookPro. This tutorial helped a LOT!!
You should create a Patreon account so we can contribute regularly. I’ve learned a lot from you since becoming a Mac user several years ago. Thank you for all your hard work!
I’ve been an Apple person for years and I found some useful information here! Some settings explained and tips to make things easier, so thanks for that. Subscribed and will recommend your videos to others.
Your teaching is f.. “la Classe” 👌 unfortunately not everyone follow these methodology now days, going behind the scenes with walkthrough for their viewers and fans. I admire your style of teaching thank you 😊. It’s tells me you care about your customers and extra cares
Great video. I was trying to find something to share with a couple people new to Macs, and this will be at the top of the list. My only quibble (there had to be one, right?) is the advice on FileVault. While the original version of FileVault was a drain on system resources, FileVault 2 has almost no impact after the initial encryption is done. Plus, most people have personal documents on their Macs, and if they have a MacBook their risk of loss should be considered.
Fabulous! I just got a macbook air and your video was exactly what I needed to get a thorough overview to start using it without pulling my hair out. Thank you!
Very informative video as yet I’ve not received my MacBook Pro yet as I do have an iPad Pro I’m glad you mentioned that both can be used side by side which is fantastic can’t wait to get started.
Incredibly helpful tutorial! At first, I was apprehensive upon seeing the length of the video, but it was undoubtedly worth the investment! I now have a much, much better grasp on how to use my new mac! Thank you a million!
I upgraded my printer to a Brother MFC-J5730DW as my research showed brother had the best compatibility with Mac's but that changed with Catalina as Brother haven't bothered to update the Control Centre software which isn't compatible with Catalina as it is 32bit. After some further research on this the general opinion seems to be that Brother just aren't bothering to keep their software up to date for MAC users. I had a similar problem with an old Canon printer I had but managed to keep it working with a CUPS driver from a third party. I thought upgrading to Brother was the right thing for a Mac user but apparently not.
My 2013 Mac seems as though it's a pretty good computer what do you think give me your thoughts on it please I would appreciate it thank you very much you have a great rest of your day😎😎😎!
i purchased my mid 2014 13 inch retina 500SSD and i7 processor 8 gb of Ram i wish i had of bought the extra 8 GB but its only lately ive been educating myself about this rather cool laptop particularly like schooling myself with educational vids like these , my previous computer was a HP desktop and was a pile of crap compared to the portability of my MBP and iPhone combo with some Bose noise cancelling headphones , So much better when you learn how best to use these products i love my apple watch too id given up on watches but when apple released it i had to have it and all this stuff works together where my charged watch unlocks my laptop beautiful synergy even my front door lock is connected to my iPhone and i rarely use a key i love stuff that works together apple achieve that a lot of my tech has been given to me by family but ive spent my own money on it too , Heres to high tech stuff we love
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I am new to Mac, though I had figured out a couple things. I still did learn some cool tricks though and once I train my fingers into using the Command key instead of CTRL, I'm sure I'll be speeding through the OS. :)
Hi David. Your tutorials are indeed wonderful and extremely helpful, especially as I get older, and need some direction. I have been a Mac and iPhone user for a long time. If I had a complaint it would be Apple ID. I find this sometimes very frustrating. My message/request of you today is to help suggest a workaround for my problem between devices. For whatever reason I did this, I have one Apple ID for my iPhone 6 (yes I know it's old) and a more different Apple Id for my newer of two iMac's. One can't recognize the other, I would love to just have one AppleID only to recognize my two desktops and iPhone. Anything you can suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thank you and best wishes for the holiday season. Eric
I had so many issues with Catalina I had to revert back to Mohave. This was a real wake up call from Apple and a reminder not to blindly trust them ever again!
Wow wow thank you so much for this video i just order my MacBook Air 2020 cant wait to play with it.. you are great excellent video, for sure i will follow you
It seems to make sense, though, to use file vault on a mobile device like a Macbook. Cause you will not only have it safe inside your home. Moreover, encryption and decryption are heavily hardware-supported.

15 years of using windows, switched to macOS a few weeks ago, this video is amazing for begginers!
Thank you!
Jesus Murillo May I ask, what made you switch?

I've watched a lot of "beginner" video for mac but yours is the most informative. Thank you!
Great video. Been doing PCs since dos 3.0. Left Microsoft when Windows came on the scene going to Linux. A few years later followed my eldest son into the Mac world after he requested a Mac for his college engineering classes. Your classes have been a huge help. Thanks.

This is an awesome video which has opened my eyes to using my Macbook Pro. He is very patient and explains in a way that anybody can learn.

This is the primary source for we DOS/windows devotions to learn IOS. He is the real thing!
Awesome video for someone who is new to the MacBook Pro ecosystem. You are a great teacher. Thanks

First of all, huge thank you for your efforts! I'm not mac newbie but when I watch your videos I always find something new all the time!;)
Great video I just switched from pc for editing videos for my drone and didn’t realize how different Mac is thank you so much
Nic WickedStix how do you like the Mac after 10 months since you switched? What was the biggest challenge for you when you moved to the Mac?
I'm in a similar boat, and I was able to get a Mac for dirt cheap, so I figured Id do a deep dive before I get a new one (if I even want one)

Hi David

You are AWESOME and Heaven sent. Your tutorials make learning to use MAC less frustrating! Thanks for the videos.
I am so glad I found your channel! I've always used a PC but since I have an Iphone, I'm really trying to get the hang of this older MacBookPro. This tutorial helped a LOT!!
Thank you David for the video. I learned a few new tricks watching it. Keep up the excellent work you do.

Great class! Learned a lot. I'm a new MacPro user and this video helped me set some preferences. I liked the stack feature. It cleaned up my desktop.
Fabulous! I just got a macbook air and your video was exactly what I needed to get a thorough overview to start using it without pulling my hair out. Thank you!
Great video instruction for first time users of Macs! I highly recommend! Thank you David!
I really like how you teach the classes are easy to follow and understand, you have a special talent I congratulate you and thank you very much !!!
Very informative video as yet I’ve not received my MacBook Pro yet as I do have an iPad Pro I’m glad you mentioned that both can be used side by side which is fantastic can’t wait to get started.
Gave me lot of insight as the workings of the Mac. Thank you Dave
Well! I switched 6 months ago and I learned so much today! Thanks so much! Very didactic. Happy Holidays 👏👏👏
Incredibly helpful tutorial! At first, I was apprehensive upon seeing the length of the video, but it was undoubtedly worth the investment! I now have a much, much better grasp on how to use my new mac! Thank you a million!
Once again thanks a lot! As always you're generating value to the world. Greetings from Brazil.
Extremely useful video. Will continue to listen to more of yours. Very good explanations Thank you.

Very nice, as usual David. Thanks for your hard work. You make life easier for us. much appreciated
Thank you so much for this channel. It's a great way to learn anything there is in the Apple world. Thanks mate!

i purchased my mid 2014 13 inch retina 500SSD and i7 processor 8 gb of Ram i wish i had of bought the extra 8 GB but its only lately ive been educating myself about this rather cool laptop particularly like schooling myself with educational vids like these , my previous computer was a HP desktop and was a pile of crap compared to the portability of my MBP and iPhone combo with some Bose noise cancelling headphones , So much better when you learn how best to use these products i love my apple watch too id given up on watches but when apple released it i had to have it and all this stuff works together where my charged watch unlocks my laptop beautiful synergy even my front door lock is connected to my iPhone and i rarely use a key i love stuff that works together apple achieve that a lot of my tech has been given to me by family but ive spent my own money on it too , Heres to high tech stuff we love
first time user, now I feel I could use this laptop. Thank you!!!
Thank you very much for this tutorial. I am new to Mac, though I had figured out a couple things. I still did learn some cool tricks though and once I train my fingers into using the Command key instead of CTRL, I'm sure I'll be speeding through the OS. :)
Im brief watching while I’m working so saving them all to watch later need lots of help with Mac
Syncing the Keychain is still useful with LastPass. It will allow sharing across devices of WiFi passwords and a few other device passwords
Thank you so much David! I’m going to pick up my first ever mac tomorrow and you uploaded this video just in time.
Eric
Thank you! I have a new MacBook Pro 16 and with your guidance I can learn how to use it. Subscribed. Liked. New Fan for sure!!!!
Great and professional, as always!
Excellent esp. on the Gestures demo......
As always, never a disappointment with your video's. Thank you!
New to Mac and I have learned a lot. Will use again.
I had so many issues with Catalina I had to revert back to Mohave. This was a real wake up call from Apple and a reminder not to blindly trust them ever again!
Great video. I’m new to Mac and I found this video very informative. Thanks.
