  • This outdoor storage bench is a very simple woodworking project!
    Sponsored by www.wooditsreal.com/
We've got a pool, so we also have LOTs of pool noodles and other backyard stuff. In an effort to hide the pool supplies and toys away when not in use, I made this SUPER simple outdoor storage bench out of basic lumber from the home center. It's made to stay outside, house things that don't mind getting wet (like pool noodles) and can be built in an afternoon.
    TOOLS LIST:
(some are better than the versions I own)
    amzn.to/2axFPsA - Skil circular saw
    amzn.to/2axOLvq - Dewalt 20v drill driver combo
    amzn.to/2da9fOJ - Evolution miter saw
    amzn.to/2akFubx - Orbital Sander
    amzn.to/2axFRRs - Jigsaw
    amzn.to/2axFGW9 - Speed square
    amzn.to/2ayihkF - Quikclot clotting sponge
    amzn.to/2aLCCCN - First aid kit
    amzn.to/2aovz06 - Respirator
    amzn.to/2aW3nHn - Filters
    amzn.to/2aY182W - Eye protection
    amzn.to/2axUZ0X - Ear protection

i love building stuff that my parents could use every day, makes me feel good when i see their faces light up at what i've created. My father needs this for his pool. so i think im going to build a 5 foot long one (as he doesnt have a very large amount of pool stuff). thanks for the inspiration! Keep doing what you're doing, you're great at it!

I'm glad I ran across this video today. My daughter and son-in-law are going to have a pool installed and they will need some storage space for pool items. This is the perfect solution. I have all the tools needed and my son-in-law is a great helper. I'm sure if we had all materials on hand, we could build something like this in half a day.
BTW, I love the bike t-shirt. I've never seen one quite like that. Since you obviously are a cyclist, you will know what I mean when I tell you I am and old guy and I now ride a 'bent and love it. With degenerative disk disease in my upper and lower back it just became too painful to ride an upright, but the 'bent has enabled me to keep riding into my 70s.

Looks good Bob! the only thing I'd change is when laying the deck boards out is to have the exposed surface of the deck boards be the crown of the wood grain. For longevity, as the boards move around the pith, you want the board to take a crown shape instead of a cup shape. This prevents water from laying on the boards

    mesh bottom, great idea.
perhaps he already mentioned this, but an advantage of using just the mesh on the bottom is that you won't have moldy wood at the bottom. whatever you put in the storage box is probably wet/damp from the pool.
