Seeing that Nikon brought back good memories! My first SLR was a Nikon EM, which looks almost identical to yours. Got it passed down from my older brother, who probably bought it second hand himself. I think I must have been 14 or 15 years old. I joined a local photography club, merely so I could use their dark room (tip!). I used to buy film in bulk, 4 or 5 'units' at a time, which you had to feed into empty cassettes in total darkness. Developing my own films, making prints... to me, the work in the dark room was half the fun of photography. You are going to have so much fun with that camera!
That’s probably the best Nikon manual focus camera and the best wide angle lens to boot. The M90 feature is a lifesaver if the battery dies-saved my bacon twice on holiday. Just get any Nikon 50mm manual focus lens and you’ll have a perfect kit. ❤
I still have my FE that I got for my high school graduation back in 1981. I have never been unhappy with it. I just replaced the light seals, they had finally turned to goo. That lens is on my “to purchase “ list. Good shooting.
Such a great camera! I wasn't sure about the light seals on mine. They looked fine, but I didn't know for sure until I got my first roll back. Everything seems to be working great!
Very nice! Still have a Canon AE-1 that I received as a high school graduation gift in 1986. Was never a great photographer, but every once in a while I get the urge to take it out and give it another try. Have fun!
I remember the FE it had popsicle stick meter system which seemed odd as the FM manual camera had red green leds. The FM was the twin of the FE. Both utterly solid well designed cameras.
Can't go wrong with a old Nikon. I use my old Nikon F which was made from 1959 until the early 70s. Mine was a '64 line. A lot of Nikons film SLR cameras were top of the line.
I just sent ( the all year motorcyclist) over to you today to watch. He is from the UK and does 3 to four videos a week! Crazy. He is a great online friend that just got a camera himself from his wife. Hope you two connect in some way. He just uploaded his video this morning on his camera. TAYM thanks for making me want to spend money again!
Nice gift! I love shooting with my Flexaret. Hope u can get proper service in the area you live in. Getting a good one is priceless nowadays.. Cheers Bradley.
Kodak Tri-X is my go to film. I started shooting it at 320asa since that is what the large format sheet film is rated at and they are the same product. I've also heard of folks rating it at 250asa, but i haven't tried that yet. The SmarterEveryDay YTC has an amazing short series going through the entire Kodak factory / manufacturing process of making film, worth checking out if you have the time. Once you get the bug you'll want to develop your own film, which cost much less, and then a small darkroom set up to make your own prints. Best wishes in your new hobby from a fellow pipe smoker / hobby photographer!
I just sent my first roll of Tri-X away for processing. I ended up shooting it at 800 because it's been so dark and rainy here. I'll be interested to see what it looks like pushed. I'm going to try it at half box speed too.
Nikon had pretty good glass back then, they were one of the best. I wonder if that camera has a titanium shutter. Some of the ones from Japan did back in the 1970s.
Advancing the film with the door open might expose your first frame. On my camera you close the back then advance the frame until you are at 1 on the counter dial.

Fun stuff! I've been looking into darkrooms/film clubs in the area. Doesn't seem to be a single one unfortunately.
I’ve been watching your channel for years for tobacco and pipe stuff and i’m so excited to see you getting into photography!
Nice! There will be more to come!
Diamond is a keeper bro
Definitely!

What a birthday gift! Don't let Diamond get away.
Sounds like Bradleys found a keeper!!
I've been singing that quite often recently! Haha!

Yeah! I'll probably get the 50mm f/1.8 pancake lens eventually!

Congrats good friend Bradley! Love all of this! Happy shooting.

Very cool!

Yeah, I really like the analog meter in the FE! It IS weird that the more manual camera, the FM, had the LEDs. You'd think it would be the opposite!

The F has such a cool design!
Beautiful camera. Makes me miss my Rollei Roliflex. Enjoy taking pictures. Can't wait to see what you took pictures of.
I'll try to do a video soon, looking at my first few rolls. I'm expecting there to be a learning curve!
Good Evening 😊 Thanks for the review and showing this beautiful camera 👏🏼👏🏼 Have a great day & Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Cheers!

I hope I'm not driving you to spend too much!

Cheers! We don't really have a good camera shop around here, so if I do need servicing, I'll probably have to go online.
I still have my two Canon , AE and AE1 , love film !
Nice!
Wow great find, I found this lens alone for $200

Nice camera! A great reputation. I have a 1984 Minolta XG-1, a 2.8 wide angle lens, which a non standar. I am going to hunt for it now.
Good luck!
10:00 "Speed load" ftw!

I think the FE hads a metal shutter curtain, and the FE2 has the titanium shutter. Thanks for watching!
Where do you have the film processed?
I sent mine to thedarkroom.com
Get a roll of ilford XP1 film you will likely like it.
Love it!
What would you recommend for a good video camera for our YTPC RUclips channel thank you.
Tough to say! Depends on your budget and lots of other factors. I'm really happy with the Canon R6, but there's an R6 Mark II out now as well.
thank you@@stuffandthingsyoutube

How much does your film cost?
Tri-X is around 10 dollars for a 36 exposure roll. The Kodak Gold 200 and Ultra-Max 400 were around 8 dollars a roll.
Do you have a calabash pipe?
I don't!
