About the natural rhythm of life that is lost to technology; in Tokyo, almost everyone on the train is on "de" vices. In Paris, much less so. Riders are either chatting or lost in thought, being present and aware. In Tokyo and Japan in general, people are treated like children with lots of explanations of the obvious. Train announcements are very long, with warnings about the next station, and then as you approach it, another announcement. There are warnings about curves, and not getting your bag stuck in the doors, courtesy seats, the train being operated by a single person, etc. In Paris, the next station is announced twice as you approach. That's it. I plan on reading this book. I love walking the old roads in Japan that connect Tokyo to Kyoto in the south. Walking and pilgrimages give a lot of time for reflection, and as Andrew McCarthy points out, maintaining a healthy rhythm of life.
Never get tired of Andrew. His new book, “Walking with Sam” is terrific. All his books are!
I am a young senior and I still have a crush on Andrew McCarthy. Peace to the World.
I followed along with Andrew and Sam on their journey through their ig updates. I can't wait to read about the parts we didn't get to see.
I’ve read all Andrew’s book and he’s a wonderful writer. Looking forward to this one ❤❤❤
I really love this interview. Thanx.❤
Interesting that both Andrew and fellow brat-packer Emilio Estevez have Camino de Santiago in common. Emilio's film "The Way" is terrific.
His son is as handsome as Andrew. Great guys and what a good father!
I really enjoyed this book.
Andrew is a handsome man. ❤❤❤
Awesome book
I wonder what happened between him & his father. 🤔 I’m guessing I should read the book!
