Just finished a rebuild on my 30 year old F501. Has not been used in 26 years. Had transmission seal leak as well as carburetor was non functional. Replaced carb, cleaned shaft & replaced transmission seals, repaired stuck governor, replaced air filter, gas line, and gas filter. It now runs perfectly after 26 years of doing nothing!
Thank you for this video as you helped me get the job done quickly!

    Thanks for the great video!
My tiller has a gear shifter that is stuck. So with your video, I can now know how to look inside the transmission to see why I can't shift the gears. Appreciate your time and effort on sharing this video with people like me who is not so mechanically inclined but like to learn.

Good job Brother. You saved another piece of equipment from mother natures clutch. I'm assuming you are in the lower rain land (could be wrong though as I see no green stuff growing on it) from the amount of corrosion on that machine. Pretty harsh environment if not under cover. Thanks for taking the time as your efforts will prove a great help for others. Really opened my eyes and made the process easier. I like Honda Yard products and consider them the best of the machine world. Even though I like the English, Merry Tiller brand (you can do so much more then just till the yard/garden). Thanks for taking the time. Jim

I noticed you have the tines going the incorrect direction. Although they will dig okay. But incorrect direction. I have a f501 also and I use to sale them and prepare them to sell when they were brand new.

Спасибо большое за видео! Отличная работа! Есть ли возможность поменять масло в раздатке не снимая крышку? Какой нибудь шуруп как на моторе, через который можно слить масло? Спасибо!

Hello brother nice work.i have a similar model but as soon as it warm up it shut off. I already changed the coil but still have the same problem do you have any tips that can help me please?

Its starving out of fuel. Please try removing the fuel cap and then start it. If it stays start breather in the fuel cap is bad. Disassemble and clean it.
If not, then there is a strainer by the petcock(fuel shutoff). Try cleaning it. If there is too much dirt in the fuel tank that starves it too.
Email me and we'll talk more about your specific machine. Send me some pictures and I can better help. Where are you located?

      www.hondapartsnation.com/
This website is the best for looking for parts
Most of the years the parts are same so look it up under newer serial numbers if you can't find it under your own serial number.
I have a video under my channel to find your equipment serial number

Do you have a parts manual in PDF for the F501 and are there other videos on the F501 on RUclips?

    • @mechanicunderthetree7543
      @mechanicunderthetree7543  Год назад

I don't have a pdf. But if you go to my channel and check other videos. I have 3 videos of F501 specifically. Under the description there is a website where I get part numbers and then get parts from the local honda dealership. For me honda dealer was the cheapest price wise. Honda F501 is still under production and parts are usually available through dealers. And out of my experience of using various tillers honda F501 is the best tiller I have ever used. Below is the website to get part numbers and exploded pictures of the parts. Its a very helpful website. Search based on your serial number. I also have a video to find where the serial number is as its hard to find sometimes.

@@mechanicunderthetree7543 The problem I am having is trying to find the transmission protection covers, as the ones on this tiller are all rusted out and all the places on the internet I looked say the right side is available (PROTECTOR, R. TRANSMISSION CASE 21911-733-703) But the Left side is discontinued (PROTECTOR, L. TRANSMISSION CASE (NOT AVAILABLE)
      21921-733-702).
Do you have any idea how I might make up something to cover this, or where else I might try (Japan)???
      Thanks Mel.
