Is energy for his athletes is awesome and comes off very sincere. The look on his face as he looked at her monitor demonstrated he was complete pumped for her. My strategy was not far off. I def used the first 60 sec to find my pace for the next three and at 1 min left I started to ramp up to just absolutely gassed. I hit 80 Cals on the dot.
I am nowhere near a Games athlete and my PR on 100 cals on Echo (no windshield) is 4:45 (425 w). I have some people at my gym that are quite decent at ergs and their time at 100 cals are 3:45-4:00 (540-500 w). I would say that Games level on males would be 500-600 Watts for 5 mins so 125-150 cals in 5 mins. (At my experience of 5 years coaching of CF)
@@Sionnach7331 I have no data windshield vs. No-windshield but with with shield it feels easier. Maybe 20-30 w more power with same heartrate. And on Rogue 50 cal Challenge windshields were banned and there has to be some reason for that. I believe that the harder the pace is, more windshield helps because airflow some how ricoches from the shield back to fan and spins it. But only speculations. 😝
I’m curious to know what you think of his chart, I’m 52 165lbs and held 65 cadence pretty easy, pretty sure I could do 68. I’m sure all games athletes male and female could destroy me.
I ordered the exercise bike on January 7th and it arrived on February 12th. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxzg0clhbtRf2gGxPkVETFKJJKGqdsorQu The box must have been tossed around quite a bit because one whole side of the styrofoam was destroyed, and the other side foam was cracked. The Two zip ties holding the handlebars had broken loose and handlebars were loose in the box. There are two small holes in the foam on the right side of the handlebars, I guess from rolling around inside the box. Assembly was straight forward and easy. I am 6 ft 5 in 220 lb and the handlebars and seating positions fully adjustable and work great, I'm getting full leg extension. The noise level is very, very low and acceptable. The adjustment knob for the pressure on the flywheel works well also. The exercise bike is very well made, sturdy and easy move around. This is my first exercise bike and will keep me in shape over the winter. Update 3/19/21: when removing the sticker from the wheel, make sure you remove any sticker glue also. I thought mine was clean but I was getting a slight noise from the glue. Once cleaned off, its super quite. Also the monitor didn't work, tracked it down to the pickup device wasn't in the hole. Once I moved in the hole, it works fine. Do NOT put it in until it touches or it will damage the pickup.
it doesnt matter aerobic/anerobic/ zone 1. its straight up watts you can put out rally style for the set amount of time. Easy to train, but unfortunately if everyone does the same training over 12 weeks it comes down to genetics. this has become sadly apparent in the past 3 years tour de france athletes have started overlapping into mountain biking competitions and absolutely destroying the competition because they better trained and better geneticly vetted to put out the most watts. Sad days
Just a though for everyone saying that Chris’s numbers are low for games athletes. At no point did he say those #’s are what would win a single event - just that it denotes someone is minimum ready. More significantly take into account that an event at the games wouldn’t just be the echo for time alone. There would be an exercise probably probably preceding the bike that would partial smoke the athletes legs then they would have to hop on the bike an still put out those times. Totally different then just doing the bike in isolation…
I think the goals for games athletes is pretty low. There was an old test 10min max cals and the goal was your BW in pounds in cals. Then games athletes would do 1.1 to 1.2 x BW. Maybe using your BW to scale the goal would be a better way to scale goals of this 5min test?
Your second sentence is correct, but the first is quite wrong. Blood lactate does indeed rise during exercise (at least during exercise of any intensity) and this can be measured by taking finger prick blood samples from an individual. However it is not the lactate itself which is causing you to slow but other metabolites. It's a good indirect marker of fatigue though, and training to improve your lactate threshold is something most endurance athletes work on.
If that was max effort they shouldn’t be walking afterwards. Typical cross fitters, no good at long duration pacing. They went moderate to easy for 4 mins then sprinted for last 1 min instead of being able to set a good steady pace for the full 5 mins. Should try a 5km run. How many cross fitters have ever run 5kms? The worst thing crossfit ever did is call the CrossFit games winner the fittest on earth. Maybe the fittest at CrossFit. Kipchoge is the fittest for marathon. No CrossFitter would beat him.
I was clickbaited with that picture of froning

it's a real delight to see world-class coaching. You are awesome Mr. Hinshaw

does the windshield make a difference? have you any data on this?

I would agree I’m nowhere near games level and I’ve done 100cal in 4:50
Are you talking about Rogue echo bikes or the air bike, because they are a completely diff beast

You mean you purchased a Sunny "spin bike style" stationary bike. Not the Rogue Echo Bike described in the video above?
Hinshaw is brilliant. Love these tests and roadmap to improvement. #MayhemAthlete
11:23 I'm so glad you asked about breathing through the nose.
Great high quality content 👍🏽
Appreciate the advice on the warm ups.
i did 10 min test once and got 160 cal total, i’m 42 years old and i thought i was gonna die in that moment hahaha. Nice job, i’ll do it 🔥
"Don't go to out too hard right out of the gate" words to live by.
This was amazing!! The emphasis on the warm up protocol is ace👍
How many cals did Seth get?
Such a brilliantly educational video, I'm hyped 😃
This is a VERY well made video. Absolutely brilliant
This was an awesome video! Great content, keep them coming!
How much did the dude do ???, next time live cals and hr plz
Hey, is this program still available to run as a standalone piece?
Where do I enter my 5min baseline in SugarWOD?
Thanks for all the videos, so informative for all areas of CF.
When is the program going to be available on your web site?
Just came across this video. Where can I find or purchase the 10 week program?
I'd like to take part but im struggling to find the sugarwod. Does anyone have it?
Where can I order those
echo bike
This dude. What a motivator! hahaha ROFL
I know they’re super fit pro athletes but if they not ending on the floor and vomiting they’ve got more to give 😅 Am I Right? 🤣
They make this look effortless
I love how Hinshaw did the math and knows how much of an improvement was made.
I just saw a comment that if you signed up after 12/1/21 that I'm not able to enter my baseline. Is this true?
What the heck was Seth's score?
Can't wait for the 100 calories for time video!
great coaching... hit 90
Perfect video
Seth’s score?
You WILL NOT find another coach who is more engaged and cares more about his athletes... FACT
"Hope is not a strategy" he sounds like a general.
wow I run for 25min every week on the treadmill and on the air bike and i am 51👍

Vamos Rich!!!!
I would love to see Rory do this program so he won't do any more cold cals for time challenges. They look so painful.

67 cals today.
Imagine listening to this guy lol
The thumbnail is pretty clickbaity. I was expecting to see Rich. Not cool.
Chris can do apple events. Articulate as always.

who else is doing it
Their seats are painfully low.
lol I’m watching this now all I could think of was low seats + flared elbows is so much wasted effort
@@randomknowitall yep wasted smfh 🤡

was that on an assault bike? the echo bike is a whole different monster.
New research shows that lactate levels do not change during exercise. It’s not lactate that causes muscles to ache and cause u to slow down.

standard cadence should be 80rpm if you train. spin to WIN
If that was max effort they shouldn’t be walking afterwards.
