The Old Fisherman is back on the shellcracker hole where him and Ms. Debrah caught bedding fish last year with a heavy heart and trying to love life again while missing Ms. Debrah on Lake Murray, South Carolina with several days of action.

Love Fishing for Shells and other Bream. My Mom taught me how to fish for them back around 58 or 59, and I always think of her when I go. We used a cane pole and a cork float (bobber). Those are times I will never forget. I've never been fishing on Murray. I live upstate about 5 miles from Keowee, and 12 miles from Lake Hartwell. I remember watching you and Mrs. Debra fishing in that same spot last year. All my best to the Ol Fisherman (ha - I'm only a week behind you in age - turned 69 last week). God Bless!

Steve: I am a shellcracker fanatic, but the water in N GA at my home lake is only 64-66 degrees F and they aren't shallow yet. Plus, it got real cold this last couple days - I can't find a big bream hardly at all. What do you suggest? Build a BIG fire by the lake? Ha ha. Best regards to you, my friend! The sunfish in Quebec are more yellow than those, they are spawning as well ,white perch will be soon and yellow perch.

Do they realy crack shells?
I did a lot of perch fishing mostly blue gills we have aperch called a war mouth it hasa mouth like a bass
But dont get very big up to about 10 inches ,also red ear perch , i love to
Eat them , i just cut off head and gut them and batter thrm with fish fry
Batter mix and deep fry thrm to
Golden brown , mmm good
