10 months later and summer is about here. Changing tactics so I'm catching up on your older episodes my friend... From the upstate, I've fished Murray all my life. I just Retired here 3 years ago and you have certainly helped me get up to speed on "my home lake"... Thanks Steve 🙏
Hey Steve I admire your fishing ability, it tough enough to catch fish regularly, but to get it on video, almost every other day. Man I got to give credit to where it’s due, your a mighty great fisherman, from one fisherman to another I love your videos man , keep up the good work.
I fished a long time ago with my ex-husband. One good thing that came out of that is a love of fishing. But life has just gotten in way and I haven't been fishing in a long time. I just went bought my fishing license. Thought I'd do like the young ones do and learn all over again how to fish. Your video got me all excited about fishing again. Thank you so much!!! This was a great video. Heck, I'm watching it again!!
The old fisherman loving life and catching slabs. That is exactly the same way I fish. With crappies you have to be patient. I learned that over the years and sometimes it takes a while for them to turn on. I'm a minnow fisherman also and learned that you keep them in the same water that the bait shop uses which is usually cold but not ice cold and I use my aerator and they stay alive in the summer time.
I fish slip corks a lot. Even with the right stuff it's still pretty aggravating. I tie my stopper knots with 15 or 20 lb test hi-vis mono. I kill the big bluegills down deep all year long. There's just something special about watching them corks go under.
I have fish for a lot of crappies and hybrids and Strippers. But Ole fisherman is in my top three on RUclips. You are a legend sir. Let write your book. Title Who controls fresh water 💧 fishing 🎣
'They might bite... & they might not bite... & this cork might not work'! Love it man. Really enjoyed this Video, thanks for sharing. New aspiring RUclipsr Sub from Indiana. I'm still trying to figure out how to catch Crappie consistently! This Video helps.
Hey Steve, awesome video & some real nice slabs. Thank you for sharing. The minnow you lost at 3:30 I suspect the fish hit the minnow and swam up a little until the slack line was taken when the splitshot acted as a sudden shock, enough to dislodge the minnow from the hook. That's just a theory, but anyway, my catch ratio soared when I put my split shot right up against the knot on my hooks eyelet and only rubber bobber stops on both end of my slip cork. One definite advantage is that when the minnow is picked up at the slightest, my cork lays on its side & I recognize that as a bite & set the hook immediately.
real good video, got me wanting to go crappie fishing...I fish murray every week, some times twice a week, from 2005 till 2014 from nov till april, we always killed the crappie. we would striper fish from daylight till about 9 am then crappie fish till about 3 pm and go back to striper fishing till dark .....I kept a fishing log of every trip, you wouldn't believe the number of crappie we caught each day. I love fishing that lake,i just dont get down there much anymore.
The bobber stops that are hard plastic are the way to go. But slip bobbers do work for crappie. I was 50/50 last time i went whole i was casting and the bobber was catching them too
Hey Steve. I am one of your followers and was wondering if you would take me crappie fishing with you . I’ve been trying to learn how to catch them. I’m about an hr away from lake Murray
Idk what your states laws are but I’d be dropping them off to clean and go back out one time with the grand daughter or somebody if I could even. Our possession limit is twice the daily bag limit.
Why don't you have Rod Holders on the Gunnels of your boat instead of putting the rods on the floor please. Oh Wow they have come on the bite I so wish I was there :):) why do you need so many fish ?? Cheers Denise- Australia

Next to deep water or in a creek channel 25 to 40 ft of water on a turn or point or side dip. That is for Summertime and Fall fishing.
