I love his simple way of fishing. He doesnt need a dozen expensive rods and reels in his 50K boat with all the expensive fish finders. He's a true fisherman.

Absolutely the only fishing channel I can watch and I immediately want to go fishing. I'm a terrible fisher but something about his videos make me feel like I can land anything out there.

The more you fish the better you will get at it. I’ve been fishing my entire life but recently got into bass fishing. I was discouraged the first year but I stayed at it. I’m not good at it by any means but I’m a lot better than I was

That is about the only setup I do most of the time. So simple. Worms or minnows, works every time! My Ugly Stik GX2 6 ft light action rod can handle all sorts of fish. I got a cheap Mitchell 310 reel attached to it. Perfect combincation.

Live bait, worm, minners, crawdads, etc. is always fun. You are set to catch anything in the water. Does make it interesting sometime.

I tried using 2 pound test in my local lake to catch crappie and they snapped my line several times due to the lily pads and other foliage. It looks like the 2 pound test works best in water with no vegetation. I’m going to have to go back to 4 pound to pull them out of my lake. But it was fun to try.
Richard, have you ever been spoiled using light line?
I really enjoy using ultralight rigs with 1-2 pound test, having a boat always helps prevent this, but sometimes keeping up with a large fish, even with a boat doesn’t always work.
That “pop” of your line when it hits the end of 125 yds is bummer, but it’s the game we play!!!

Good video and scenery Gene.I cut my teeth on bream fishin with my Daddy and brother in a 16ft flat with a 1957 Evinrude outboard on the bank. We fished local lakes around the Alexandria La. area using crickets and cataplu worms. Still fish when I can and still love it just as much. You said something today that my Daddy used to say when he caught a fish saying he put the steel to them . Take care and thanks for the memories.
