Good Day to you all. My name is Peter and I made this video with Prince back in the late 80s. I worked at Editel, which was one of the premier edit house in the day, he had shot all the footage at his place and showed up one Monday night with a box of tapes because he knew of my effects work. Remember this was before the computers and software of today, I had to layer each letter in the video one at a time. I enjoyed a healthy working relationship with him, a nice guy, incredibly talented. I still have other versions of the video with more messages in it but we felt we wouldn't get away with it as much as we did. I'm so glad this is available to all, thanks.
@Peter Beyt you were blessed to work with him..I know some others who have and they all speak highly of him..One word that is universally used to describe working with him is "Magic"
Peter Beyt THANK U FOR SHARING A BLESSED LEGACY WITH HIM. this song is now one of my best and Favorite songs from the Icon! A big list of PRINCE!!!
Peter Beyt Last, God bless you and continue on working big and smart! Prince couldn't have done it without U. LOVES U VERY MUCH! SENDING LOVE💜💜💜💜
How was Prince
Peter. You MUST post the alternative videos. Us fans are desperate for more. Do it and I’ll marry you!
Even though this wasn't considered one of his biggest hits, it's in my top 3 favorite Prince songs. That funk is undeniably infectious!
I just find it to be a very happy song. They should have had Prince sing it on Sesame Street.
It's one of his biggest hits.
You're right, it's not one of his most popular ones, but it is ahhh-mazin!!
Did you jerk your body like a horny pony would?😅

PRINCE IS A MUSIC GENRE ALL BY HIMSELF
I have a playlist of just his songs. He is THAT dude...
More true words have never been spoken
I've never heard Prince explained better than that.
He who has fought all his life for the atomization of genres
Multi-Genre, that is perfect for describing the brilliant, multi-talented Prince💜
RIP to the sweet, beautiful and talented Cat! 💜💜💜
Who is enjoying this master piece in 2024?
One of many from his royal badness🌹❤☕🥠🧸🎁 Prince was a gift for us all.
STILL HERE LOVING IT💜
RIP Prince. This man was not only exceptionally gifted, but a musical "genius".
early 80s prince wrote i would die 4 U 4 = april U = 21 i would die april 21 prince died april 21 2016
mirror datum april 21 counted back from 31 december = 9 - 11 augustus 11
3 planes on 9 - 11 2001 in NY plane-numbers were 77 93 & 11
prince wrote in early 80s ´the time´ song 7 77 93 11 but wait there is more
just playing balls, why?....🤣
Prince EXELENTE 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼un beso 😘 de mi país 🇨🇱 Chile 🇨🇱
Gotta Check out Prince in 1991 Arseno Hall show with Patty Labelle an hour dedicated entirely too the Man Prince
Total genius 👍👍, Prince was The Man, his music will live on forever.
“Cat we need you to dance, cuz we know you know” we all are growing old but her dancing and the body of music left behind in this world will never let you die. RIP my Alphabet Street dancer.
@@waltereneshepherd3306 1 of the most beautiful talented original & sexy women ever, what an inspiration ❤️ 💔
RIP Cat, you will never be forgotten.
The line has the word “rap,” not “dance.”
@@jordanhal2814Yep. “Cat! We need you to rap!” Right on.
This song is so STRIPPED DOWN and BASIC and STILL SLAYS anything of any era EVER!!!
An absolute musical genius. My parents and especially my mum absolutely loved Prince and his records were always being played by her which made me a fan of his.
That hair...😍😍😍
Summer of '88. Good memories.
This that real summer sunshine Beach song
Who came here if you are one of the fortunate (myself) to have seen the magnificent musician wonderful songwriter Prince in concert Amazing absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for your music 🎶
God Bless R.I.P Always beautiful xxxx
Hands down the most talented cutest man with a perm and heels. And he knew it too!
The Bass on this is beyond sick!!! ❤
I love this "Let it go" style bass line and beat
One of my favorite Prince tracks
That first verse gets me every time.
Yup💯✅
The beautiful Voice - That smile, those eyes, the amazing talent x please come back soon x ❤
🤗 Everytime I hear this song,I smile... No matter what my mood was before the opening chords... I smile.. Thanks Prince..
Same here. Brilliant
Prince was a writer a singer a musician dancer producer. He did it all. Nd you mention of todays artists and they do not compare
so what? as long as you are creative and endresults gives you satisfaction the rest is the ears of other beholders
in principle not important and i´m certain there are plenty plenty people doing it all themselves just like prince
and we don´t know them and will never know them cause they don´t compromise
His musical output in the 80's was astounding. He was like a conveyor belt giving us one brilliant song after another. He released and album of new material each year with the exception of 1983 only because he was working on the eventual Purple Rain soundtrack and filming the movie. Wow!
@Perverted Alchemist I say early 80's to early 90's he couldn't be touched, when he went all Artist formerly Known as, he lost it musically. Still had some moments when he shone but they were far and few inbetween. Still was a fantastic live act though.
@@stevecheevers7337 He did lose anything musically.. he just decided to explore a wider range of styles.. a lot of which were not commercial .. especially in light of grunge and gangster rap all over the radio
@Tony What's the name of that album???
This album flopped
Prince has a helluva lot of gems on most of his albums. He truly carved his own lane as a musician.
Prince was UNIQUE and I mean that in a nice manner. Mercy!
The real deal is the absolute stunning maxi or full length track, with the girl whispering and the stylophone giving the track a retro sound.
Happy birthday baby Prince 🎊🎊🎁🎁🎁
The percussion & drum arrangements on this record is insane!!! I remember listening for the 1st time wondering wtf is going on here. It still has the same effect. I really love the kick, sooooo effective
So true . He made such brilliant short songs , they were like a journey, just perfect
Prince was the Man
Prince is killing this bass guitar on this cut. (legendary )
Just my imagination that's my favourite song .mica and prince makes it sound so beautiful 😍😍😍😍
Nobody's blowout is better than Prince's!❤❤❤
Read in a book about Prince (written and published in the early 90’s) that what showed off the brilliance of Prince was in this song. They claim Prince sings and plays his guitar in one key, while the rest of his band play in a different key, but somehow it all comes together
The kinda shit I argue with my band about
ONE person did that. Not a band. Not an orchestra. ONE person. Prince, 28 years old.
Prince, the one man band. Yes!
Incredible
A Legend ABOVE legends....
He was 30 in '88 but yes he was a one man band genius ❤
His hazel eyes were captivating.
Thank you friend for your beautiful uplifting music. Right on time.
RIP Cat 💜✝️☮️🙏
This video makes me smile every time I watch...so super cool! He was so beautiful with that hair blowing and flowing! It's hard adjusting to a world without him in it, but I'm so grateful for the music.
This was the song that introduced me to Prince, I haven’t stopped listening to him since 🤟🏻
This is my favourite slap bassline ever! I love how he leaves space.
This song has been on repeat
this video is amazing , the little Richard and James brown influences bleed out this man . rip to all these legends ❤️.
This Masterpiece Is So Underrated.
PRINCE ROGERSNELSON Is So SHY&CUTE THOSE DIMPLES Are Very CUTE WHEN HE SMILES 😃 😊 🙂 😀 😄 😁! So SEXY! When HePlays HIS 🎸 🎸 🎸 🎸!
I Agree...............
Why Do You Capitalize The First Letter Of Every Word?
PRINCE!!! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👍👍👍🤗
80’s prince was his zenith, I loved his hidden messages from Darling Nikki to the one in this video at 0:26 “DON’T BUY THE BLACK ALBUM I’M SORRY” Classic Prince of that era.
i can never see the hidden message no matter how many times i watch the video. even with your time stamp
@@misterhappy5462You have to watch very carefully. It’s right after the part where Prince disappears as he’s holding a cane. It’s a long vertical text image that appears when it shows Prince playing the guitar. It’s immediately before the Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” appears.
@@lakebay972 wow...FINALLY after how many years of hearing about it i saw it. thank you!
Omg finally after decades of picking this apart thank you i can now see it!!
Bob George ....yep
Anyone who can scream the word "No" as the opening lyric for a song has a lot of talent and musical conviction to do so. This track is Prince's best by far.
The rhythm is groovy n simply infectious done in true Prince style ✨
Lovesexy needs a deluxe release such an underappreciated album that deserves more recognition
This is one of Prince's funkiest bass lines ever
Kyrie Sampson this one and let’s work bass line is pee-u fonkay!!
Kyrie Sampson AMEN!!! THESE ARE 1 OF MY FAVORITE PRINCE SONGS!!! I would listen 2 this FOR MANY DECADES.💜💖🕊
Kyrie Sampson. If you listen carefully there is no Bass line, just a Guitar and a key board.
Dewayne Coleman Levi Seacer Jr is playing that little snippet of bass in this song.
@@dorothyparker544 It is Prince playing the bass as well as guitar on this track. 🎶❤️
sublime
Now they are dancing together ❤️
Prince was the truth. He never wrote a song that sucked,, not one. There will never be another Prince
Actually, Prince wrote several songs that sucked, the Under the Cherry Moon soundtrack being one. I also thought his music suffered when he became that symbol.
@@lakebay972” actually…” So, when is Ur stinky music coming out? Never! Ok, then…eat it!!
Prince wrote many, many duff songs. He was wildly inconsistent for much of his career, particularly after the early 90s. However, I'm not convinced that many Prince fans would rate the soundtrack to Under the Cherry Moon - Parade to everyone else - as anything other than amongst his best work. It's not his best album but it might be his most daring, and his most interesting.
@@garethharrison5797 Inconsistent according to who? 🤓
@@Wordsareprayers He was inconsistent. He released dozens of albums and not all of them were great. Even when he was close to his peak, Graffiti Bridge, Diamonds and Pearls and maybe even Symbol - which i really, really like - would all have to be considered a little bit patchy. All contained elite Prince nonetheless and he was still capable of making startling music. He got significantly less compelling in the following years. I love Prince and consider him ro be as good as anyone at his best, but I was replying to someone who said that Prince never made a song that sucked. He did. He made loads of them. Even Prince's biggest fans would surely concede that Prince made more than his fair share of music that was underwhelming. I am not saying anything even vaguely controversial. I'm a big Prince fan for what it's worth.
This guy is one of the all time greats as a performer and musician. Never in my opinion did he get the respect he deserved.
Saw him twice, he was awesome. The dude was the best.
One of my FAVORITE Prince jams!!!
Mine too 🎉
Me 3!
Thanks Prince and Cat! You are alive and well in my mind
I know everyone is gonna say how much they like this song. I worked in Top40 radio when thus dropped. Was his first stiff. A fun little ditty, however.
This video is everything . Love them letters falling on him and all the colors .
This is why I love Fridays,we made it to the weekend and we get more Prince music videos! 💜
The Regg yassss!!!😊💜💜💜
I wonder why they've stopped? .... it looks like it's been 2 months since a new vid has been posted ... :,(
Those first 12 seconds are everything, that beat 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
The driving bass and stuttering cowbell 💜
Prince is so genius.
He looks gorgeous in this video😍😘❤
R.I.P. Prince & Cat 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️❤️❤️
One of the greatest song of all time - Legend Prince
Never grows old. I was hooked as a kid when I heard “I Wanna B Ur Lover”. He gave it all.
Great song from the late Prince (God rest his soul). I love this song and I loved Prince. He was a very good singer back in his day.
Prince, probably the sexiest man ever to grace this world. I ain't gay, but damn he was fine to look at. And as a performer he we just so amazing, i wish i could move that way!
One of my all time favorites from Prince . I loved the shout - out to Tennessee !
I love the whole CD beginning to end! I understand he was telling a musical story from Eye No - Positivity. Flawless. It's never outdated.
Prince should've released Crystal Ball and then Sign O the Times.
Prince lives on in us… I find him hypnotic
Prince:you are and always will be the man!,what a musician!, phenomenal.RIP Prince....
Love anything Prince 💜 Alphabet St. was a masterpiece! Isn’t the same without Prince on this Earth! RIP Prince 1958-2016 😎🎹🎸💜💜💜💜
I remember this jam! I used to crank it on my 1987 AIWA Auto-Reverse Boom Box! Fall 1988!! Good Times!

Damb, I wish this song was longer!!! I don't want it to end 😂😂😂. It's hard not to play it over and over again cause it's sooo good! Prince, we miss you...RIP ❤😘

When Prince starts dancing at the 2:02 mark, I can picture my mom doing that exact dance which is crazy because she’s been gone since 2012.

Once again Prince was ahead of his time, making the most quintessentially 1990s-looking video, back in 1988. Eyyoo
Dude, the public televisi😊n editing made this thing a classic!
CLASSIC PRINCE! Stripped down and layered as hell.
