what perfect timing !..thank you Nick for sharing your work process and methods with us . Coming across your work 2x weeks ago inspired me to sculpt again after a 40 year hiatus. . In front of me on my desk is a huge lump of clay , newly purchased tools and 2x lazy cats sleeping. Outside my window Hurricane Dennis rages. What better time to start .... I do not have access to a kiln locally so initially I shall let them air dry then perhaps experiment with acrylic brushing and spray paints followed by acrylic varnish.
Hi Nick, thank you very much for this video. I use paperclay but preprepared. Could you possibly do a video on your clay prep. I'd like to make my own paperclay. Thank you.
This is great Nick, I’m going to give this a go and try and find somewhere locally for firing. There is one of your wonderful wild dogs in the art studio in Brockenhurst but it’s beyond my wallet. 👍
The clay dropping into the bucket made so much sound that I couldn't listen which clay you are using. Can you plz clarify? Plz make more videos of tutorial of basic thing which can help budding artists like me. Thanks a ton for this video
Nick,my names lee. Just come across your video,I’m just getting into sculpture, and your work is absolutely fantastic,so the chance to speak to a professional artist will be invaluable to me. If you have any advice on some of the best self curing clay’s that would be great,I know you use a kiln to set your art,but unfortunately I would get shouted at by my wife lol,I do a lot of drawing and carving with wood, and I have always been drawn to sculpting, little bit late in life at 52,but I’ve come to a point in my life to express my creativity. Hope I haven’t gone on to much ,but any advice you can give would be great, thank you.
other people have already asked but i dont see an answer---you leave the paper (that you used to help make the forms)inside and it burns away in bisque fire??
Just to let everyone know, there are more videos in the works; such as time-lapses and videos more like this one.
I am in complete awe of your work! Thank you so much for your generosity in sharing!
