Thanks so much for sharing your work, it's lovely. I have a wire-hair terrier I been wanting to do, but he has a bit of hair, and I was stumped. But I like what you did with your little guy, and I'm inspired. He's getting older, and I avoid thinking of his loss. They are irreplaceable. Thanks 😊 again.
I’m so glad you found this helpful! I have a few sculptures of my schnauzer and she is still with us! 😊 hair is difficult to represent with clay! Would love to know what you end up making!
That sure looks realistic to me! Have you ever done them with Apoxy Sculpt? I saw another video by someone who makes animals with that and it looks alot like ceramic clay!
No. I have played with epoxy, but there is quite a bit of sanding involved that usually does not get shown on videos to achieve a smooth surface. You also have limited time to work with the material as the drying process starts immediately after you mix the epoxy.
If someone who didn't really have much clay working experience, but is a creative artsy person wanted to learn how to do this , where should they start?
Tree Lore yes I do put wood rods. Although these are more like skewers so the wood is soft and seems to contract during the drying process. I normally would not leave them in because they can cause cracking since the clay contracts / shrinks while drying. I remove them once the legs are firm enough...
Joni Menz I use paper clay on the video, but also use porcelain. If you use wooden sticks for support, etc, you need to remove them before the piece dries or you will get cracking when the clay dries since it shrinks as water it removed. Yes, the wood would burn out. However, I don’t recommend it. I hope that helps! :)
Ive just started doing this. Rule of doing it was not to go "ultra realistic" but me being so self critical of my work, i try and make it look exactly like the picture im copying from -.- im a pain in the ass. My mind tells me it looks shit if it doesnt look EXACTLY like the photo.
I wish I had done a video of my Schnauzer. I have sculpted her a few times. The idea is the same as with this video... I hope you were able to figure out how to sculpt the Schnauzer.
Tjokker Pieterse it is, but it helps people cope with the loss of their pet, so that makes me feel better. I’m glad I can bring comfort to people during a difficult time.
Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing and remembering those who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge..
Your comments means a lot! 🐶 😊

Muy tierno me encanta muchas gracias por compartir
Wow. Great work
Thanks for visiting and commenting!
Beautiful sculpture ❤ I have a question about the legs, did you leave the wooden sticks in the legs during the bisque oven?
Сколько теплоты!
❤❤❤
Is this something you would put in the kiln and glaze ?
Yes, most definitely!
🎉❤❤❤
Wow! Do you have a tutorial how to do this?
This is the closest video I have to a tutorial and I know it is not really a step by step with detailed instructions.
That is so beautiful and good intentions as well. If i may ask what type of clay do you use? And what cone you use in the kiln?

I recommend you find your local Art Center and find out what type of beginner classes they offer.

You put wood rods in the legs? and then you fire in a ceramic kiln? do you remove the wood? where did you buy the wood rods?

What kind of clay do you use? Also, when you fire it, do the wooden sticks inside just burn out of the clay?
