I hope this will be a useful Video for the Owners of NuTone NM100 - NM200 and Music & Sound (M&S Systems) DMC1 and DMC3-4. I speaker with many people that have these Systems and they have no idea how to adjust them correctly. Sometimes this creates a situation where it may seem like the System is broken and not working correctly, but it is just grossly misadjusted. - Chris

Hi Groovy 1: It's a complicated Video to make - trying to explain something that is difficult by design. I hop I did a good enough job that it will help people - Chris

In the 60s, Magnavox Astro-Sonic stereos had the power switch on the treble knob. Another design blunder I thought to be strange, even as a kid. TONE was a totally inappropriate name for the MENU button on these units. 🤔

Hi Ron K: Agreed - Perhaps this is what happens when products are designed by committee - Chris

Thank you for posting this! Would you consider that since this is the end for NM intercoms and by the time they were making these, the quality in both design and materials used were not as good as before (opinion), would an older NM model such as the 3300 series is better quality? As you know, I have a DMC 3-4.

Hi bigchevs1: The NuTone NM Series has been discontinued for over 7 years - and it is just a rebadged M&S DMC System. In the world of consumer electronics, there's a common term that is used for many types of products - "built-down-to-a-price" - This term means that whatever the product is, no more was spent on it than was absolutely necessary to have it work. The DMC (and NM) fall into this category. Another Term is "design for repair" . The DMC and NM were not designed for repair. Both NuTone and M&S would simply either swap out circuit boards or complete Master Stations for any model that was in-warranty.
Those of us who are True NuTone Guys - do not consider the NM (and DMC) to be "NuTone Intercoms" The 3303 you mention is not an NM Series Intercom - It is IM (or IMA) 3303 - These are true NuTone Intercoms and the final (and best) models NuTone ever made. The last NuTone Intercoms were discontinued in 2010. While these models are not without there share of problems - you can expect them to work for 20 - 25 years before the require their first rebuild. The exception to this seems to be the last IMA3303's made between 2007 - 2010. These models were produced after Nortek had purchased NuTone, merged it with Broan and they were squeezing every last dollar out of every product.
These last IMA3303 have early failures, which can be traced back to them being built with the lowest quality components imaginable - I guess this seems top be a "hot-topic" to me - Chris
