You forgot to mention that Luka has done something this year that hasn't been done in over 50+ years. First white guy to lead the NBA in scoring since Rick Barry did it in 1970-71
Barry was in the ABA 68-69 thro 71-72.
Luka is the first white player to lead in scoring since Pete Maravich in 76-77.
Interestingly they're both of Serb origin.

Once the likes of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield started to retire/slow down in the 2000s, there was no U.S. pipeline to keep it going.

As a Spurs fan who appreciates my team’s fondness for international players, the eye test shows that most of them have better fundamentals and overall attitude towards the game and in life, and therefore are easier to keep focused on the game itself. You’ll find most American players are more physically gifted but are too distracted and entitled and pout at the first sliver of adversity. Most of them talk and worry abt their money, their brand, their leverage, their legacy, while most foreign players just disappear in the crowd during summer.

Haven’t even started the video yet, but there have been some smaller basketball related channels that have pointed this out before already. I just think they deserve some props, like Uncut Hoops and I think SportsnFitness Rants. I’m probably forgetting some more.
These things go in cycles. 10-15 years ago you had Tim Duncan as one of the top players in the league, and there were other all-star caliber international players like Tony Parker and Dirk Nowitzki there too. Then those guys fell off, and you had KD and Westbrook and Steph and Lebron clearly up at the top. Now the international players are back and playing great. So American players, past and present, should stop their hating and play/encourage better basketball and if they improve then things will come around again.

I remember guys who were talented enough but not supported or dedicated enough to play in college to make it to the NBA. Many of the international players are working harder and take the game and position seriously but the league today is all about dollars and lifestyle. Sometimes when certain people have so much good they tend to forget what it took to build up and what it takes to maintain it with integrity. When money is the only thing the game is hanging on then you may as well toss it in the trash like an old broken basketball hoop!

I listened to that episode last night and they were incorrect when they were talking to Kerry Kittles and said that Jokic is the only player to win a championship without another all star player on the team. In the '94 championship run Dream was the only all star on the team. Clyde didn't come until the second championship run.

What is overlooked in this discussion is also the adjustment period for all international players. Living in the USA is way different than living in Europe and further to this point, most players have to live in a city where they don't have their loved ones near by.

No one hates international players. Real hoopers make a distinction between guys who play both ends of the court versus guys who can't. We also understand that athleticism and defense are crucial components of the game. I will never be forced to embrace guys who only have 1 gear and their accolades will always be *.

I have no idea where you got that from. For one the US still dominates basketball, it just so happens some of the TOP players aren’t American. Even then Jokic isn’t the best because of how “talented” he is, most of the lost “talented” players in the NBA are American.

I don't understand it to be honest. As a life long Spurs fan, maybe I've been fortunate enough to be invested and tuned in as it being, simply, normal. I got to see Duncan, Parker, Ginobili up to Patty Mills and everyone in between. Even moreso being biased would LOVE to see Wemby as the face of the league. So if a non American was taking league (who wasnt Wemby) I wouldn't have any objections, or thought for that matter. Again, hate to repeat, but I just never really thought about it for a sec. I love the game. Quite honestly I think this whole thing is being blown out. A few players/ex say something and everyone goes crazy. Even online replies and comments seem to be more from international fans than American fans who keep bringing it up so I think it just spreads quickly and we turn it all into an issue because we all live online (sarcastically saying). All in all, GET OVER YOURSELF PEOPLE.
