    USS Nicholas is the Tier 5 American destroyer in World of Warships. A classic destroyer leader design. Having kept the torpedo armament of her predecessors, the ship was close to cruisers in terms of dimensions and artillery firepower. The ship's powerful propulsion was intended to produce very high speeds.The Nicholas is a welcome upgrade from the Clemson, and a very fun and strong destroyer for its tier. Compared to the Clemson, the Nicholas is a vast improvement in nearly every way. uss nicholas, uss nicholas wows, wows nicholas guide, world of warships destroyers, american destroyers, nicholas world of warships, how to play world of warships, world of warships destroyer guide, how to play destroyers, world of warships american destroyers, world of warships us destroyers, how to play us destroyers, how to us destroyers, nicholas wows, wows nicholas captain skills, wows, world of warships, wows, wows replay, wows replays, world of warships, world of warships replay, world of warships replays, wows highlights. Perhaps the most conspicuous upgrade is the main battery, which previously on the Clemson was practically the same 102mm armament found on the tier 2 American destroyer, the Sampson, including essentially the same range and rate of fire. For the Nicholas, not only has the caliber been buffed to 127mm and rate of fire increased to a monstrous 15 RPM, the range of the guns can now reach 10.9km away even stock. The Nicholas also gets increased top speed by 2 knots, 8 seconds faster artillery rotation time, and a 0.3 km shorter spotting range. The Nicholas has a fairly tall silhouette due to the tower in the front of the vessel, so once you're spotted you should be more careful as a destroyer's armor is basically nonexistent. Otherwise, the Nicholas is an excellent destroyer for its tier and can be very effective in both assaulting with torpedoes and harassing with its fast firing guns.

    Hello and welcome once again everyone, sorry for the delay in getting this video out. Today's replay highlight features the tier 5 American Destroyer USS Nicholas. It's about time I returned to some great destroyer gameplay as recent videos have all featured battleships. I intend to rotate more including more lower tier games and guides in the coming days and weeks. I hope you all enjoy the video and let me know in the comments what you think and until the next time, keep sailing it like you stole it o7

    I know this is an old one but it's still a good one. Gotta laugh at the new york captain a little. Requested help, got it and then ran into the entire enemy team running away from his support. Excellent playing by Nuts

    you are right about one thing right off the bat: since the intro of the research bureau, the lower tiers have become a bad place for new players to work through. Top tier players just smash new players like me, who havn't even had enough battles to unlock ranked or clan yet.
    That said, watching your vid shows i've been playing the Nick all sorts of wrong. Would like it if you focused more on discussing techniques and strategies for us dds.

    Just bid adios to the lovely Clemson. I really like that ship - and am already using it as a basic captains trainer for followup ships. I think I will really enjoy the Nicholas.

    I have been grinding this ship, the British line & Swedish line of dd's. I found this ship exceptionally hard to play, but you make it look like child's play as you do it so well. I got a 10 Point captain out of the Armory Dasha Perova, and since I surmise she's Russian, I can't understand a word she says, however she was all that was available in the armory that was American or could captain an American ship. I would of liked a 14 point captain, but they didn't have any, and I've spent my limit in doubloons via real money, so I can't afford to train Dasha any further as I blew my gaming budget for awhile, and I'm low on doubloons, LOL. I'm hoping with the ship's success which you make look easy, I'll get her up to a higher point scale, then move Dasha with the next tier American DD I get and put a reserve in the Nicholas, but that is going to be a long grind I perceive. I would like to get concealment and fill out what is needed on that bottom line of the captain's build and the line preceding it. Thanks for making a video of this spectacular game and I wish you smooth sailing..... BTW, how do you aim your torps without the white line to guide you? Also, what scale do you use for aiming your guns as I like that small [_] square you use, kind of narrows it down I think for a better aim. I'm on a PC and I assume you are on a PC too. Again thumbs up on your video, this is more than once you gave me inspiration on how to play a ship and each time I benefited from it. Also wow on all those kills. I'm happy when I just get one kill, I can't imagine six or more. I am sure you have gotten into cross fire, or facing a enhanced BB, do you kite at that point or smoke up and stay and fight? I know I ask a lot, but is the only way I'll learn to be a decent player, but I doubt I'll ever get as good as you. I built my ship the exact same as yours, except the damage control party only offers one basic item and not the enhanced as you show it here. I have been a subscriber for a long time as long as I've been playing wow's and I always give you a thumbs up. Thanks again for reveling all your secrets to a great ship build, as it saves me a lot of trial and error & if I get sunk, I know from this game alone, it's my own stupidly.

    Very nice gameplay. However, to reach such high performance you have to have the right amount of conditions working for you:
    1) No CVs;
    2) Potato enemy BB players who keep on sailing in straight lines even when it’s clear there is a DD in the vicinity;
    3) A few decent players on your team (that guy in the NM was great at holding off 5 ships near cap A all alone);
    4) The rest of your team is made of potatoes and muppets;
    5) No CVs.
    Great game nonetheless. Even with those favourable conditions it ain’t easy and it requires a cool head and balls of steel.
    Kudos for this series of videos with the build at the end.
    I wish all new players like myself watched more of these videos and kept to low tiers a bit longer, instead of rushing to the Premium Shop to get their (insert name of ship here) and be blasted out of the water in less than 3 minutes...
    RE the Research Bureau, one of unintended consequences is that Tiers 5 and 6 are now chock full of sealclubbers, which, compounded with the usual ones at the lower tiers, make the new player’s life a real obstacle course with little learning and much dying horribly early on.
    IMHO there should be a tier-based cap on skipper skills and MM should at the very minimum equally subdivide experienced players on the two teams.
    Another CC has approached WG with the idea. The answer? “MM is good as it is, we ain’t changing it”

      Firstly thank you Antonio for taking the time to respond. I hoped the video would simply show that even a low tier destroyer can shine in the right circumstances and hands. I love destroyers and hope to make more lower tier videos to try and help more people understand the hows and the whys on how to play them. Matchmaking is awful and has been since day 1. Wargaming have shown zero interest in making improvements as they feel it's working as intended. It's like going to a Horologist and asking them to fix your watch and they simply respond by saying " but sir it's right twice a day"

    Nice game. Definitely i like mid tier videos. Unfortunately i tend to lend in T7 matches where your 127mm guns are not really effective anymore. Mastering smoke use is the key there, but everybody tends to torp and shoot smoke at t7 plus you might have a CV as well. Overall I feel US DDs less effective nowadays. Maybe that is true for all DD lines.

    • @CarbineCarlito
      @CarbineCarlito  4 года назад

      Hi Hond654, A CV will decrease the effectiveness of every ship in the game and it's never easy fighting 2 tiers higher, it's about as hard as the game can get.
      Believe it or not carriers are everywhere in the game at the moment. I'm currently on a run of 17 consecutive games with carriers across multiple tiers. Feels bad being a destroyer main right now -)

    • @ColoradoStreaming
      @ColoradoStreaming 3 года назад +1

      I think of smokescreen like the ink of an octopus. It hides you just long enough to get the hell out of dodge and away from a bad situation. I typically will find out im too far ahead or getting closed in on so I will pop smoke then throw some torps at the nearest DD to make them maneuver then turn tail and run. Trying to use it as cover to shoot from or hide in place will get you killed fast.
