Another great video from you, you’ve been such an asset with ableton. Ive been working on solidifying my drum racks and this was a big help especially with the mixer info, ive been trying to figure that out. I’m still trying to decide if I make different racks for kicks ,hats, percussion etc so I’m able to swap and audition other sounds quickly while a clip is playing.
That's a way to go. You may find that you're still better off using a single, layered Drum Rack, though. See how you go and let us know how you get on!
This video has really help me, my Roland Spd Sx drop volume at a performance(it Crushed) the only option was using it Has Midi with ableton live..thanks
yo i'm searching for an 1-click option to browse through a folder of drum samples playing to the sequenced drum midi pattern in ableton .....propellerheads reason was my first daw and in reasons redrum you could browse through the chosen drumfolder and change the used drumsample with 1-click ...abletons hot swap function needs 2-clicks (cursor + enter)....is there a faster way or an vst which can do it with just 1-click so i can browse fast through drumsamples playing to the midi-sequence?
I can't layer samples! I'm dragging and dropping while holding Ctrl (on Windows) but they only swap. No instrument Rack appears at all :/ I'd appreciate some advice! Thanks!
Hi man i have one question related to sample playback. I can’t find the answer, maybe you can help? I play handpans (big ufo-like metal melodic-percussion instrumens with tonefields). My idea is to “transfer” real instrument into Ableton Push with samples. Everything works great except one thing. Imagine that I place one handpan note into one pad. When i hit the pad - the note is played. When i hit it second time it “chokes” the sustain tail of the first hit. Can i make them “stack” together, like layering them by hitting one pad? I didnt find the option for that in Simpler or Sampler. Thank you!
Hey all, I am having some kind of new issue with Live 10. Basically whenever I drag a sample into any kit, doesn't matter if it's one of the kits that come with Ableton or a custom one I created, the sample, when played, is hard left and almost an octave lower. I just discovered this today. I quit Ableton and restarted but it's still happening. Basically have to pan 30R and bring the note pitch from C up to G to get it to play as it should. I don't know where to get help for this, basically Ableton Forum doesn't have anything like this listed and a Google search produces nothing. Is there a general setting someplace that has been altered? Spec info below: Windows 10 Live 10 Standard Launchpad Pro
How is this different than just triggering the two samples together at the same time in midi? Seems way faster. Like if you make your own drum rack, with these two samples, and trigger them on the same beats, would that produce the same “layer”? Or would it sound different than what you’ve just done here?
I had a question about the drum rack. for some reason when i try separating the tracks .it doesn't say the instrument name it just says drum rack is there a way I could fix this?
PLEASEEEE! How tf do I add another drum preset to the racks (above and under the main one)?? Everytime I drag another drum set preset in adds it on top of the other one and makes them all a "multi" pad and adds the tewo drum sets together..... plz help... I don't want to go add samples one by one to the different pad octaves. I want to add the whole drum set samples to the different 4quads of the launch pad.
great explanations as usual!. Please I need help. I've got this open Hihat pattern drawn being triggered from the drum rack and even though I have it on trigger mode the previous note is always being cut by the new one instead of letting it finish the whole sample the way it would behave with a real drum set even if that means overlapping notes. It's an open hi hat as I said and it sounds very unnatural this way with the tail of the open hihat hit being cut by the start of the next one. Is there a way to get them to overlap instead of being cut by the next hit?
It sounds like the open hi-hat sound is set to choke mode. I.e. replicating the fact that on a real kit you can't play an open hi-hat at the same time as a closed hat. Make sure choke is set to none/off
@@MusicTechOfficial Thanks for the response. It's set to "none" and each note still "cuts" the previous midi note... It's the same hihat all the time, same sample. is there a way to let the sample play until the end even if the same key/sample is triggered before it finishes?. Maybe it's not even possible in ableton and I'm breaking my head with this xD
Love with the way this dude explains everything. So easy to understand. Thank you!

Thank you!!! Sooo helpful, there is zero chance I would have figured out all of this by myself. Best walk through I’ve seen.
Thank you for making this accessible !
Shift dropping to stack and the drum rack mixer expand button is really cool
Not a big comment person, but this was exactly what I needed to do. thanks dude! love the clear instructions showing both sides of the coin.

Thanks! Super helpful
Just a little heads up if CTRL/CMD does not work for you. Hold ALT before dropping the sample instead of CTRL/CMD. This worked for me.
or control + alt simultaneously, which worked in my case. Been trying to figure out since they somehow changed it.
Great tutorials man! learning alot
When you are in the mixer mode of the drum rack can you throw plug ins on the individual sample slots?
Thanks mate. Golden. 👍

Hi
When I press Midi on ableton, the drum pads in the drum rack aren't highlighted, even when arm recording is on. please help

Can you offset a pad so it triggers later?
How would I use the whole sample and not make my own please?
For some reason drum rack is treating the sounds like they are mono and only allowing one of the stacked sounds to play
Phil Anselmo had a British accent?
