Heck yeaaaah bruh this video was so amazing!! You did a fabulous on this video! ! Quick question : Should we load up different drum racks to have separate channels for different instruments! like have a rack for hats, snares and kicks and ect and have them on its own channels??? love the choke group! We was sold once we saw this because it help the humanization of the drums! Also that tip with the chord is super dope!! No need to load up another sound and worry about laying the correct elements just slap that chord on and bammmm ! Thanx again!!
thanks,so glad to find tutorials that are straight to the tutorial-no nonsense blibber blabbing and having to scroll to the 3 minute mark to actually start the tutorial
Man, thank you very much. Nowadays it’s hard to find good and useful tutorials. You have pretty good and helpful videos! Keep it up. Regards from Colombia.
Dude thanks so much - as an MPC user I have REALLY struggled with the inability to layer sounds and this helped me replace that functionality in a different but usable way!
In terms of Ableton's multi pad function, is there a way that I can have multiple hi hat sounds on one pad and only one of them randomly triggers each time the pad is pressed? I feel that it would allow a more human like playability if I were to have a multi pad of four or five similar sounding Hi Hats but only one of those one shots were played randomly each time the pad was pressed. Thanks!
Nice one! Quick question: is pad hotswap meant to work in context? ie. it plays back the currently selected (but not loaded) sample in the context of your loop. It doesn't seem to for me.
Thank you. Great tutorial. One question: how to move multisamples in relation to each other? I mean time in the drum rack. I mean very short shifts - a few ms for an example.
The best way would be to add a delay and make 100% wet 0% feedback with no filter applied. Unfortunately, you can't shift samples forward except by dragging MIDI notes forward.
Great Tutorial! Thanks :) I have a question regarding tip 4 (copying values to siblings): is there a way to easily change all samples of a drumrack from classic mode to one shot mode or the other way round? I very often use the function "slice to new midi track" and everything starts in classic mode.. It's pretty annoying having to change everything manually.. Thanks a lot in advance!
It's also described in Lives Manual, but i cant give you the exact chapter right now you have to search through it for yourself but i learned it from there. Just looks for presets and defaults or so..
For quickly layering drums, the chord midi effect doesn't seem to layer my sample, it just transposes the note, but I don't here.a copy of the original sample. What am I doing wrong?
I noticed that when I separate the drum rack and open one drum sound midi clip, it only shows the one note on the keyboard. Is there anyway to show the full keyboard so I can add different tones?
@@paolococo2 Best way is to load them both into different tracks, and then drag them over from one to the other (there are spare pads if you see the display on the left of the Drum Rack). Save it and you can use it in the future instead of combining them every time :)
Amazing video, I do have one question tho. I like some of the pitch shifted trap snare and hi hat rolls that producers do in simpler and sampler. Is there a way to do that in the drum rack or should I make my drums in drum rack then do a separate channel in simpler outside of drum rack for the rolls ?
Josh Diamond You could by using transposition modulation within the midi clip. When you are viewing the clip at the bottom left there is a little circle that you click that will open up the menu to see how to add modulation. on the second drop down box select transposition modulation. then you just draw the line in the clip like you would on the arrangement with any other modulation. Or you can do the same on arrangement by modulating the simpler that is in the snare/hat drum pad in drum rack. If you are in modulation mode click the transposition area then draw your modulation in arrangement. Hard to explain all this through text, and at the end of the day I usually find it just easier to have a separate channel with the hat or snare in simpler or sampler and drawing out the pattern in midi that way, c3 being the original sample etc.
SOLVED: The drum sound I applied my Chord MIDI Effect to was sitting in a simpler set to '1-Shot' mode, which only allows one 'voicing' of the sample to be played. I switched to 'Classic' Mode and checked the 'Voices' option was more than one and it worked. Hope that helps :)
Having real trouble finding somewhere explaining how to humanise a beat you've made on drum rack, gutted you can't just apply the groove pool to it, hi hats are horrendously robotic from what I'm trying to make at the moment, don't suppose anyone had any good vids to suggest or something?
Hi Salana, set the transpose of one of the drum samples to +6st, then right click and select "copy value to siblings". This will set the Global transpose of each simpler in your drum rack to +6st
My bro very good information. Im fairly new to live and I am trying to create the ultimate template for my sessions. I want to have my drum rack setup with parallel compression to use KICK 2 plug in for the kicks only then 808 / use glide efx. My genre of production is like a JCOLE/KENDRICK LAMAR/DRAKE, JUSTICE LEAGUE.With your experience what can you recommend i've watched so many youtube videos but really can't find that right one that caters to my genre style. If there is there using FL, LOGIC X.

This is probably THE BEST tutorial video I've ever seen about LIVE. Thank you SO MUCH for making/posting it.
Make more sir!
Thanks Bruce! More content coming soon ;)
As I am still quite new to Live, this video was very helpful. Thank you, 5 years after the making you made me happy.

Another great tutorial, Conner. Just what I needed. I guess it pays to read the manual! ;-)
Great video mate, still learning new tricks!
Wowww super clear and concise! 🙏
Thanks for the video! Very useful.
Is it possible to create Drumracks with a preview loop in the browser?
i was looking for a setting that i needed for something other than drums but you saved the day and omg. yes
How about some tips/tricks for push2 ?!
nice tips! tks
Thanks! I can apply these to my metal drums
Awesome! Yep these can work in any genre :)
Helpful video, thanks bud!!
This is amazing 🙌🏾
Wicked Conner, thanks.
You just got me leaps and bounds closer to creating drums I wouldn't be ashamed of people hearing! Awesome video
Thanks! Happy it helped.
Great, straight to the point tips :)
Brilliant tips

is there a way to rename a multi layered drum slot instead of the default "multi"?
Wow thank you, that was helpful!
Thanks Anton!

I'm here to find out exactly this. I haven't been able to figure it out!

Took a lot from this video and the presentation was solid. Thank you for sharing.
Great tutorial.
thanks
Thx!

think you might need to use Simpler instead.....Unless you copy and paste that sound to different pads and edit the sample in each one
Great vid! Love this guy's voice :)
How do you load kit-core-heritage, and kit-core-grit-life in the same drum rack?
Awesome vid btw.

Duplicate the sample into the different pitches u want and add them all to the same choke group
the chord MIDI effect didnt layered the sound with the original one, it just transposed it. Am I doing something wrong?
me too!

Richard Barr great !
Thanks I had this same issue.
How can I shift layered drums like claps so that they don't start at the same time?
Turn off the grid and manually shift by a small increment.

Seed To Stage has some good tutorials on this…
how to effect all the samples with pitch change i want whole kit to be in +6 transpose how to tune whole kit tell me?
I think that is possible only in sampler.
Hi Salana, set the transpose of one of the drum samples to +6st, then right click and select "copy value to siblings". This will set the Global transpose of each simpler in your drum rack to +6st
nice video need a touch up on the features nice and sharp
Buen video grettings from chile
