My girlfriend wont stop singing "vocals... can get messsyyy.. if you don't gate.. you're echo tailsss" when she's cooking in the kitchen. Keep in mind, IM the producer... lol
just wanted to say that you're legit the best ableton tutorials I've ever seen, super detailed and extremely informative, I can follow along and make my own sweet sounds as I work through the video! You deserve to have millions of views on this shit man! Super good :)
no fat on this tutorial at all, you need to absorb every word, 10/10, to the point, love the mtv crib style fast-forward for the processes that drag on, NOICE
I don't understand on any level at all why someone would give this a thumbs down. I mean really? This was such a detailed and accessible tutorial. Bravo... 10/10.
Dude, that is the first time I was able to have someone show me what the other buttons do. Mind you, I am totally new to Ableton, and `even using MIDI, (2024) But, I have been playing music for years. Thank You.
Dude, I've been using Ableton for more than 15 years, but I learnt a lot from you! Thanks for sharing this, and proving that I underestimated Drum Rack. :)
Since the Rona hit I've been spending countless hours learning Ableton Live as someone entirely new to making music. I've watched two of your videos and have learned more than I have in months. Great stuff keep creating!
I've noticed that many Ableton Live drum tutorials on RUclips go directly to using the "manual" method of laying sounds on the timeline-which is cool and all, but it sort of defeats the purpose of using Ableton Live tools… This video does a fantastic job of explaining how using the Drum Rack can be an efficient way of producing drums in Ableton Live. (There is nothing wrong with the "manual" method-and as he described, it's a good idea to use a hybrid approach. But man, it would be great to see more producers use Drum Racks more efficiently out there… 🙂) Great work!
The other day I was wondering how to add effects to only one sample at a time while using drum rack. This video answered that and WAY more! Thanks man, this was amazing! 🙏
Great video! You can also separate each cell into individual tracks by creating the same number of new midi tracks as you have cells and simply drag each cell straight onto each midi track. You can do more processing to each sample that way too.
its crazy how many creative possibilites you just unlocked for me because of this tutorial. thank you so much i guess ive only really been using like 10% of what drum rack can do
You're videos are killer for instruction/tricks and tips. Been composing music for years and just started getting familiar with recording and using DAWs during this pandemic. Ableton is by far the best and I instantly loved drum rack for its capabilities.
This just solved many many doubts at many many levels. Thanks for it, I think that knowing this makes me a little more confident on starting to make my own drum racks. Also I believe that it solved many doubts for when trying to mix directly from the drum rack. Thanks a lot for the information!
Thanks for another awesome tutorial! I've been using Ableton for a while now, yet you absolutely blew my mind when you expanded the Drum Rack out in the session view.
Thank you so much for sharing this! This is so awesome!! I'm glad I found your video!!!! I am definitely going to use all your tips and techniques!! I'm excited to check out the rest of your channel. 😃
Idk y you got dislike but this tutorial is too great for me. I learn a lot of stuff and learning to fully utilize drum rack is great for those who use Ableton Lite/Intro since they have a minimum of 8 tracks (it has 8 on lite) thanks a lot. you earned a sub dude. keep it up
damn dude I've been using Ableton for 6 years and thought I pretty much knew all of it's features and BAM you taught me that I was wrong. Great tutorial. this is the first I'm seeing your channel and I'm wondering where you've been all along
OMG JUST NOW REALIZING YOU MADE THE 16 BIT FUNGUS ART SONGS (shitake, versicolor) They popped up on my ig feed months back and I remember being so excited by it crazyyyy
Instant sub. Super straightforward tutorial with easy to follow delivery. Cool music too. Excited to check out the rest of your videos. How have I not stumbled onto this channel sooner?
This video was so helpful! Everything was explained and demonstrated in a way that was informative, concise, and still entertaining. Thanks for this dude, I am grateful.
Wow, this might be the best ableton tutorial i’ve ever seen ! Incredibly useful, powerful and accessible features , explained clearly with no bs filler . your demonstration drum loop after showing off the transposition macro almost makes me feel like i could make an aphex twin track. Awesome stuff
I just stumbled into your channel, and this is one of the best ableton tuts I’ve ever seen. I had no idea drum rack could do all that. And your teaching skills are on-point. Yup, I’ll def be checking out your paid course when it’s ready.
A great video and great narrative. Love your smooth, direct instruction technique. I truly appreciate it. I’m not sure you answered the ambiguous question…So, when you say you should be using both?
Haha drums are the thing I consider myself a proper expert in and you've just given away everything I know 🤣. I love your tutorials. I'm learning a lot
Wow, absolutely awesome Man, I have watched a ton of your tutorials and have learned so so much. We were in lock down and all our band gigs cancelled so I brought ableton and just started recording. Keep it up 👍🎶💻🍺
I've learned more usable stuff in two days watching your channel than I have in recent months. Your perspective and explanation of tools I already knew about is clear and concise. Well done. The Dad Joker in me wants to know what key the key jingle sound is in, but, I digress.
Great video! Too many videos just show drag-this-drop-it-there without actually explaining what's going on. This video was extremely informative, I learned a lot. Thank you!
Yo I just set up two racks for highs and lows! Now that I understand the routing capabilities, I can simplify! Thank you again for these wonderful tutorials
Another deep tip, is to add a whole drum rack to a drum rack cell. Go check out Ned Rush for that inception madness. He uses live like some kind of fractal.
Wait, what?! This what you said completely removes my need to split the one drum rack into several channels to use different effects to different drum bits!!!
One of the best tutorials I've seen in a while. This made me realize I've been using the drum rack like an ape.
Yup same here. Absolute game changer.
You are not alone....LOL
I feel so fvckin dumb after watching this ^^
Allways throwing 3 stacked MIDI notes in per snare 🤦🏻
🤣😂 but our being apes doesnt stop us from beating our chests
at least you were using the Drum rack... cus I wasn't .lol
The whole midi vs audio thing has been keeping me up at night and you hit the nail on the head right at the beginning. Mad props
Dude, you’re killing me with these videos I guess this one’s from years ago just watching it now. Thank you so much. Carry-on, my friend.

I remember first learning about the drum rack, it definitely helped make my drums feel more connected instead of a bunch of random samples
Love your content.
No fluff, no filler, straight to the point & explained clearly and concisely.
Mad respect!
I don't understand on any level at all why someone would give this a thumbs down. I mean really? This was such a detailed and accessible tutorial. Bravo... 10/10.
Sadly the haters exists everywhere
because it's all pretty simple basic ableton stuff you'd know if you spent 10 minutes reading the manual.
haters gonna hate

One of the most beautiful tutorials about drum rack out there. Thank you so much.
Dude, that is the first time I was able to have someone show me what the other buttons do. Mind you, I am totally new to Ableton, and `even using MIDI, (2024) But, I have been playing music for years. Thank You.
