I was thinking the same... only after watching the comparison I noticed how the Wii version seems to have been made with a bit more care and attention to detail. I'm glad they're bringing it back tho!
The sky looks so much prettier in the Tour version on Bangkok. But otherwise, I’m quite impressed with the tracks and the quality of them this wave. Waluigi stadium looks like a full-on remake that fits right in with the original 8 tracks!
Waluigi stadium makes MK8 wario stadium look like it came from wave 1 dlc, back when they didn’t even have grass textures. Riverside park is on par with MK8 donut plains. The graphics this wave are phenomenal
GameCube FINALLY getting the respect they deserve! It's great to see good old Waluigi Stadium again! Hopefully we will get a couple more Double Dash courses, that would be nice to see! Nintendo has made Wave 4 worthwhile with some surprises! DK Summit S tier!
I can't help but think that waluigi stadium remake was made for 200cc, there's way too many straightaways where you don't do much other than evade possible items thrown by rivals, and then there's that platform at the end of the piranha plants which seems a bit hard to reach even with a mushroom
My tracks ranked Good- 8-DS Mario Circuit: I think its a really nice track but not as good as the other ones 7-Tour Amsterdam Drift: Its really nice, I just do not think its the best city track or the best track in general 6-Tour Bangkok Rush: The track is fine but I don't like that they got rid of the ink piranha plant and the sky annoys me Excellent- 5-GBA Riverside Park: I was excited for this one, but I felt let down, its really fun, don't get me wrong but the layout is boring 4-Wii DK Snowboard Cross: Its nearly the exact same as the Wii version but without the fog, very good 3-Tour Singapore Speedway: The aesthetic, the race track, everything about this is so good! 2- GCN Waluigi Stadium: Finally some GCN recognition, and it is so good on 200cc GOATED- 1- Yoshis Island: The look, the music, the references, everything about this is just goated
Call me crazy but I think I genuinely prefer how Mario Circuit looks on DS. I guess it comes down to minor things like a lot of the colorful fake advertisements being taken out, or the fact that you can't really see any water. The remade version is by no means bad though, I might just have my nostalgia goggles on too tight.
Definitely nostalgia after so many years...I really like that forest section they added and that they made the track less flat. Always liked the track on DS, glad it's finally back.
With all due respect, it’s DEFINITELY nostalgia goggles. It’s one thing to prefer the artistic direction of that version, but to say it looks better is wild lol
(Could've sworn you already had this up. ) Anyway, like some of the details in DK Summit better than the Switch one. (of which i didnt know myself till I looked it up.)
Compare to new version which replaced Mario with Donkey Kong status just remind me: what the hell is Mario doing here? (I never noticed that for 12 years)
the only real disappointments are the fog effect not being in DK Summit and the speed boosters in Waluigi Stadium not being covered in mud around the edges
@Christopher Estrada That's literally because they're unnecessary because you can trick off that ramp now. Not to mention giving extra speed boosts to the bottom path would invalidate the new higher path
@@Mr_Pxtty why not? Why is Link in it? Why couldn't they expand the roster for more track options? Imagine racing on SR388 or Corneria. It would be awesome.

The Switch versions of the Tour stages look so beautiful! I thought people kept saying the Tour stages were awful because they were 1:1 copied assets? I should've figured people were just lying out their butts again.
No they were not lying. Its just that they slowly put atleast some effort in the DLC. You still see a lot of things which look like Tour, but on GBA Riverside Park they show that its possible to also make the Tracks look much better.
@@Larry98 By 1:1 I meant they literally said 1:1 as in no changes by any means. No lighting changes, no texture changes, nothing. Yet I see at least lighting changes, so they were both lying and exaggerating.

Wait am I dreaming or does this time (and 3rd wave) we have graphics worthy of the basic circuits of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as opposed to the graphics of the 1st wave ?

I felt that way for the first three waves, but I found myself genuinely enjoying all the tracks in wave 4. Even then there is still something missing in the wave 4 versions. To me DS mario Circuit and GCN Waluigi feel shorter than the originals.
I agree with you, and the reason why the main muddy dirt road looks like ground wood is that they put in a "detailroad" type texture into it and then put an edited version of one of the Moo Moo Meadows ground textures on top of it, and they used the ObjImpurity specular map onto the main muddy dirt road as the 2nd specular map, and the main muddy dirt road in that track not only has way too much contrast onto it, but the entire track has way too much contrast in its color correction data/lighting too
I will say all the track that had been released from MK: Tour have been very interesting to race in, will it entice me to try the mobile app? F**K NO!!!

Also the glider is way too long imo
I don’t , for me it looks a lot better without the fog. 😅
