    You can control shutter speed for video by using Flkr Decrease in the Motion Picture menu. It lets you lock in a 1/25, 1/30, 1/50 or 1/120 shutter.

    got this today 469€, it came with 25mm f1.7 + 12-32mm kit lens. I replaced my Panasonic LX-10/15 with this. I think this was a bargain. excellent camera for it's size. For 4K video I use Sony A7R III, so this was not a dealbreaker. Great camera. Loving it already.

    Good review Lok. I have a G80 which is a very good bit of kit and I did look at the GX800 as a back up come pocket camera but it was the lack of manual controls that put me off, wasn't aware of the overheating. In the end I picked up a Canon M6 which is great, I didn't care about the lack of 4k on it because I already had that on the G80 but I wanted the manual controls and their dual pixel focusing system which is brilliant.

    I have the GM5(previous generation), it's really a nice little camera. When they release the GX850/800 I was really happy to see the 4k recording capability, but sadly it over heats and don't have enough manual setting. Nice review Lok!

      This is a problem with Sony as well, and the Smaller Panasonic GH85 only has Contrast detection so the auto focus is bad. Not a good camera for vlogging.
      Canon 200d seem to be the best camera for vlogging at the moment, also great price.

    • @appledadlife
      @appledadlife 7 лет назад

      Dennis Olof Dennis Olof I have heard that about Sony too. I guess the technology is just not there yet.
      It’s been a long time since I use a canon, does the 200d offer 4k recording as well? Thanks

    • @dennisolof9994
      @dennisolof9994 7 лет назад +1

      No the Canon 200d does not have 4k recording, but it is a solid camera. I am thinking about getting one soon. For me 1080p is still good. But if you need 4k you can get another more expensive camera. We will have to wait and see if Sony or the other brands can come out with a small 4k camera that does not overheat.

    • @appledadlife
      @appledadlife 7 лет назад

      Dennis Olof Thanks. I will say Sony might be the first to solve the problem, but in the same time they might try to protect the sales of their s line(a7s or the future a9s) and purposely delay the technology...

    • @rkgaustin
      @rkgaustin 7 лет назад +1

      Just imagine with me for a moment if you will. Nikon takes the cancelled DL 24-500 and replaces the lens with an F-mount and the guts with whats already in the D5600 (minus the mirrorbox and shutter of course) but same sensor, processor etc with the flange distance adjusted for F-mount. With all the same performance and features of a Sony a6000 like focus peaking etc. so it will use old Ai/AiS glass put in the metering tab like a D7000 series. The body is larger so it can have a bigger battery to take more shots and that will prevent overheating as well. It will take all Nikon F-mount glass natively. No advancement in sensor technology necessary. Maybe fix snapbridge so it works at least as well as Canon's camera connect app. This imaginary camera would completely murder Sony's consumer and probably even prosumer market share overnight.

    I consider GF9/GX800, LX100, RX100V or LX10 as my daily camera ... almost choose GF9 but no manual control for video is deal breaker for me :(

  • @tomedwards81
    @tomedwards81 7 лет назад

    Lok please review the Canon M100 when you get a chance. May seem like an unexciting camera (no 4k of course), but for a reasonable price you get the M5/M6 sensor and dual pixel af in a smaller and lighter package. Seems like an ideal vlogging camera just no mic input, but life's a compromise.

    The GX85 has manual video controls and just a tad larger. Only thing this has on the GX85 is the flip up screen for shooting vlogs. For still photos, probably as good as GX85

  • @TechInspected

    Guys! LX100:
    1.) doesn't overheat when shooting 4K
    2.) manual controls when shooting video
    3.) Great f1.7 lens with m4/3 + slight crop sensor
    4.) Pretty good viewfinder
    The bad:
    1.) No touchscreen, no flipscreen
    2.) Also kind of weak stabilization, especially in 4K
    3.) No mic in
    And I already own an LX100 so yeah. (Lok owns one too.)
    Here's hoping Panasonic addresses these issues on the LX200.

    I'm going to keep my GX7 even it has no 4K video nor selife screen. It's still one of the best Panasonic M43 camera which balance well between size, outlook and functionality. Wanna have a little upgrade but I can't find one which really fits. GX8 feels too chunky, GX85 step up but back a bit st the same time, G85 is function wise but size like a entry-DSLR.

    • @Avdarmaly
      @Avdarmaly 5 лет назад

      And how about focusing on your gx7? Is it as good as canon m100 or so y a5100?

  • @Autotrope
    @Autotrope 6 лет назад +2

    Biggest problem with gx800/850 is that while it's nice and small with the kit lens, it's optically outperformed by the premium compacts with 1" sensors with that lens because it's only f/3.5 at the wide. So to make it worth while you have to swap lenses for.fastwr primes or heavier faster zooms, which sacrifice the small size and light weight (or zoom ability) taking you even further from the pocketability of a premium compact. And if you are sacrificing the small size and light weight then you may as well go for a higher end body like the G7 which performs better, doesn't have the shutter / flash limitations etc but is same price range right now. If you really want compact get a 1" premium compact.

    • @quality6779

      In many ways the GX800 is better than the G7.

    • @Autotrope
      @Autotrope 6 лет назад

      Quality Productions which ways? G7 has mic input, uncrippled shutter / flash sync, manual modes during video, etc

    • @dragancete
      @dragancete 6 лет назад

      Quality Productions I have both, G7 and GX800, image quality it's the same but G7 is a better camera overall. Of course GX800 is almost pocketable and therefore I can carry it with me all the time, so I'm happy with both.

    • @dragancete
      @dragancete 6 лет назад +1

      I spent a lot of time researching compact cameras with 1" sensor, Lumix LX10, Sony RX100 series, Canon G7 Mark II, all good options for a little companion, and I agree with you that you get a (slightly) better lens in those cameras that the pana 12-32, but don't underestimate this kit lens, it's really capable and sharp. Why I went for the GX800 over any of the 1" sensor compact cameras? because it's cheaper, and more versatile while the image quality its really really good.

  • @PeterMKent

    I think Panasonic made a mistake with the GX850, it should have been an interchangeable lens version of an LX100.

    • @Autotrope
      @Autotrope 6 лет назад

      What would the difference be though? I mean you physically can't interchange lenses on something like that without making the lenses larger and moving to a focal plane shutter for a start.
