What’s something like this cost? I got a quote for $4k just to move the drain on a rough plumbed unfinished bathroom. Seemed high for just drilling concrete and moving a preexisting drain.
I cannot believe anyone would switch a tub to a shower. It makes zero sense. Ove avoided moving to places because they dont have a tub. Just shower in the tub!!!
Maybe they're older and stepping into a tub is becoming more challenging for them. I haven't sat in a tub in maybe 10 years, probably more, and would absolutely replace a tub with a shower if I anticipated living there for several more years (I haven't moved in over 20 years, also my home has a shower in the master bedroom separate from the bathtub).
I’ve been doing bathroom remodels for over 30 years and never had a client ask me to replace a shower with a bathtub but I’ve taken out countless bathtubs to convert to walk in showers. You might prefer a tub but a VAST majority of homeowners don’t.

Why aren’t you saw cutting first. Same kind of work as not having an access panel for those mechanical fittings. As well as not soldering. This looks like lazy man work. Is it legal? Yes Is it professional? Nope
@theplumbersplunger The few things I gathered from his comment are that you didn't use a circular saw for your cut out on the concrete for a cleaner cut. I guess he wants an access panel on the other side of the wall, and wants purple primer on the glue joints. From there on it seems like jiberrish but. I guess he's calling you unprofessional for not sodering something. What that something is, I dont know. 🤷♂️😂
Biggest blunder is when my parents removed the tub and put a shower in …. In a one bath house u need a tub. When I purchased the house…. First thing i did. Install a spa tub. Kohler makes. Custom to color. Drain position and length. Best investment i made ….
By God you can do something besides changing a boiler drain and shut off valve 😁
Sometimes

what would an estimate for a similar job be? just round about?
29 years in plumbing. Great job !!
Wonderful awesome work. I watch and learn from you.
NICE WORK ALL AROUND
Goes so much faster and neater if you score out the concrete with a circular saw first.
I think you did awesome job my brother 😊
Very nice work brother!
I like that cleaner, glue caddy
Just did something similar last week. Crawl spaces for the win tho. Jackhammering is for the birds lol

What code states you need a hammer arrestors on a shower ? IPC and UPC allow for 1.5in drains on showers as well FYI
First thing i thought too

How much did you charge for this work..?

You need hammer arrestors on the shower valve in your area?
In some places we do. In others we don’t 😂
If you have them on other parts of the house it's best to just put them in ..😂😂
Why would you move the trap further away from the vent?? Shower drains can be on the right or left as well.
It's obviously a preference, and the customer wanted it in the middle
Can you possibly give your take on why you don’t like doing remodels?
Venting must be within 3 ft from drain. I don't see one. Need access to Hammer arrestors . They break too. Overall clean job
Passes inspection/code here without access panel. The vent was off the toilet so it was within three feet (barely). Appreciate it 🤘🏼
5’ for 2”
Never had to replace. Pipe made hammer arrestor.. 25+ years of remodeling. 😂😂
We use abs in Canada lower 48 use pvc

Where did you get the glue caddy? I usually use wire hangers with duck tape.
Can i put a garbage disposal in shower drain?
Nice!! Waa this a side job?
My only problem is the hammer arrestors
How much did you charge for a drain conversion like that?
I live in san antonio and was quoted 3k by one plumber and 7k by another. I ended up getting the job done by an apprentice plumber for 1100$.
There's barely any rebar in that slab
I think the custom shower pan could use the same drain 🤔
You still have a one and a half inch drain it Hass to be taken back to the stack, yes it will work but no not code
