Both of the below arguments have good merit to them: A - international football is the best of one country facing the best of another and it's a professional footballer's highest honour to represent his country. It'd be nice if that extended to the dugout as well, i.e. the nation's best manager leads the team and it's the pinnacle of his coaching career. B - there's no rule against a foreign coach managing an international team and it allows for a country to get the absolute best available regardless of their passport. It works in other sports and the Lionesses have won a major tournament with a Dutch manager. Is there really anything especially wrong or narrow-minded about either of those stances?
