      You're being too modest. I don't know you, but my guess will be that you can easy build a bike from scratch in 9 min, like most of the guys watching this video :').

    What this makes me realize is that perhaps there are different materials now and disc brakes ( but on those the principles of fitting and such are pretty similar to rim brakes) nothing has really changed on bikes from when I was a kid in the seventies in England finding scrap parts and building my own bikes from the ground up. Amazing to think how they got the basic design pretty much right from the start

    • @jasonwest3283
      @jasonwest3283 4 года назад +1

      I used to do that too, back in the 70’s and 80’s, now i’m getting back into it in a big way. There’s a lot to learn for such a ‘simple’ machine: geometry, tig welding, heat treating, all the little adjustments.... Back then I would go around looking for bike parts all around town and build some fairly interesting frankenbikes, and i had an obsession with complete tear-downs just to clean and regrease everything. I’m enjoying and looking forward to this whole process again.

    5:24 I've seen other video bike builds where they speen the crank arm and it rotates forever without stopping immediately like this one.

    • @nickshavermatson
      @nickshavermatson 5 лет назад

      I wondered if anyone would open this can of worms. Some might say the tape not only is the wrong rotation direction, but it's also the wrong direction from end to beginning. If you wrap from the top to the bar end then you don't have that messy electrical tape to deal with. Aside from that nitpick, I loved this video. Only thing I think I'd like to have seen was the setup of the tires, tubeless taping, Stans, pumping, all that fun.

      I 6 feet 8 inches guy in our club just ordered one. He contacted Tom from Alpkit and explained his giant sizing. Tom organised a bespoke frame size design. Alpkit just sold another of their Sonder Camino GRX 1 By bikes to the individual in question. So do not be put off by the supposed size XL restrictions, they can go bigger. Bespoke does add on an extra £300 though or $420.
