  • Textile Talks features weekly presentations and panel discussions from the International Quilt Museum, the Modern Quilt Guild, Quilt Alliance, San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, Studio Art Quilt Associates and Surface Design Association. The programs will be held online at 2 p.m. Eastern (11 a.m. Pacific) each Wednesday.
    Fashion and Anti-Fashion: Reflections on Artwear, presented by Melissa Leventon is a special presentation on the history of the Artwear movement by curator and SJMQT board member Melissa Leventon, inspired by her 2005 exhibition Artwear: Fashion and Anti-Fashion at the Legion of Honor, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco.
    Melissa Leventon is a curator and consultant specializing in European and American costume and textiles. Formerly Curator-in-Charge of Textiles at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, she is now principal of Curatrix Group Museum Consultants and Appraisers and has worked with museums all over the U.S. and abroad. Melissa has authored or contributed to many exhibition catalogues and journals and teaches fashion history and theory at California College of the Arts. From 2006-2018 she was a senior consultant to the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles in Bangkok.
