  • Just a quick video of building a guitar for my dad starting from a plank of wood and building all the way through to the end product and playing. This was a super fun and meaningful project.
My dad's favorite guitar shape is a stratocaster, thus why I went with that shape.
He served in the military for 35 years and was a loadmaster on C-130's so I went for a paint scheme to match when they were OD green throughout the 80's before switching to the gray color they are now. He is an avid rifle and firearm shooter/reloader and collects WWI and WWII rifles so I added Walnut into the neck milled from an M1 Garand stock.
My wife picked out the cream colored pickguard and pickups as this matches the aged military asthetic really well. Went with an amber shellac on the neck for that aged look as well!
I'm really happy with the overall build. Sorry I didn't go into super detail about components or anything. This was more just abotu enjoying the build process. That's also why there is no music!
Hope you enjoy this video. My dad was super stoked on the guitar and got lessons immediately!

Somehow I knew it wouldn’t be an acoustic 😂 Handmade and custom painted after a C-130?! 🤘🏻

Absolutely! Handmade and painted to rep that military history! I’ll build him an acoustic in the future I bet…

Oh it was quite a few late nights probably roughly 30-40 hours into it I would say. Came out killer and I’m very happy with it!

Wow. Thats impressive. And it sounds awesome. I love the finishing touches like the garand wood. Sweet. I could ask you a dozen questions but don't want to show my ignorance. How about, how long did it take? And do you do custom orders? If so... Roughly how much for one like that just different colors? Would love to hear enter the sandman or the watchtower.

It took I’d say 30-40 hours roughly. I didn’t keep a running count unfortunately. I’m glad you dig it Harry. A build like this would probably be around $800-$1k on a quick estimate

Well the work Looks amazing. It certainly sounds good. I was hoping you'd do Maybe ten minutes of Metallica 😜 I haven't a clue if that's a good price or a lot. My guess is good.
