- In this video, we'll guide you through the essential steps to determine if your #nightguard is working properly. #mouthguards are crucial for protecting your teeth from #teethgrinding and clenching, but it's important to ensure they fit well and provide the necessary protection.
What You'll Learn:
1. How to check your night-guard for key elements of function
2. How to ensure your night guard fits snugly but comfortably
3. How to know if your night guard is made for #teethgrinding or clenching
4. How to adjust a #mouthguard
#teethgrinding is very different from clenching and people who grind their teeth require a #nightguard for teeth grinding rather than a deprogrammer, which is an appliance used for clenchers. If you are #grinding teeth at night, then you need a different design of your nightguard than someone who clenches.

What if you are both a grinder and a clencher?
Thanks for the video! Can you be 80% grinder and 20% clencher?
Yes you can. And thank you for commenting
@@dr.agathabisI ve grinder and clencher as well . I don’t which one is more serious. Do one night guard can help? or I need two ?
@@heyyou8103 one is fine but the design of it needs to incorporate what’s called “anterior guidance”
By the time I'm about to fall asleep, I find that my inner cheek finds its way between my top and bottom teeth, leading to cheek biting. Is there anything out there to protect the inner cheek?
Typically, when cheeks get in between, it means that there is not enough overlap between the top and bottom teeth/nightguard. So basically, the nightguard needs to be adjusted. If it's a lower nighguard, then the outside part needs to be brought in more so the upper teeth stick out more than the nightguard and protect the cheek from getting caught.
@@dr.agathabis Very interesting! Thanks!
what if you clinch and also grind your teeth?
if you grind then you are still a grinder
@@dr.agathabisso if your both does the anterior guidance help resolve the clenching?
@@dissizyeezy5517 typically the anterior guidance helps reduce clenching
@@dissizyeezy5517 unfortunately not always. It really depends on many factors most of which would need a thorough assessment of your occlusion
