    • @RedShark493

      Insulin is working to burn that sugar to energy in the cells. If the body does not allow insulin to enter to cells, you dont get energy and you dont burn that sugar. Thats why you become weak.

    So is this the reason i have very low ketone levels even when i fast? Yet sometimes my MOJO reads hypo. I don't get it.

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn 2 года назад

      Are you talking about ketone levels in your blood or urine? If you are measuring ketones in your urine and they are low, sometimes that is a good thing because it means your body is more efficient and needs to create fewer ketones because it is better at burning fat. If you are referring to ketones in your blood, I don’t know about that. I just know that I heard multiple times that urine ketone testing strips can be useful but only in the beginning of fasting when you are just starting to get into ketosis. If you are more ketone-adapted (i believe this is the right term), you will not continue to excrete a high degree of ketones in your urine. My advice, however, is to verify this by researching the details of this on your own via Dr. Fung’s web site and RUclips channel and Dr. Sten Ekberg’s RUclips channel (I’m sure there are other good ones; those are my current favorites for understanding fasting and ketosis.) Hope that helps?

    I respect Dr. Fung but again he is not accurate here. It's not having too much sugar in cell cause insulin resistance but due to cells down-regulation of insulin receptors due to high insulin all the time. sheesh I'm perplexed that how lots of people have no idea what insulin resistance is, even Dr. Fung ???

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn 2 года назад

      @realImage vanity, Dr. Fung is an expert in his field and in the treatment of diabetes. I’m sure he is correct about what he is saying. He may be explaining it in a way that uses an analogy so that the layperson can understand and that communicates the general concept of what is happening. If you have a better explanation, perhaps you should create a RUclips video to offer it in a way that is both accurate and that a layperson can easily understand. I would look forward to seeing your video.

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn 2 года назад

      @realImage vanity, yes-“too high insulin all the time” causes insulin resistance. But why was the insulin high in the first place? Too much sugar!! When insulin is working properly, it causes the sugar to go into the cells. When there is too much sugar constantly, there is also too much insulin constantly. That is what causes the cells to become resistant to insulin. Dr. Fung’s explanation is both accurate and excellent for the general population to understand with ease, which is demonstrated by all the praising comments which thank him for breaking this down in a way that is not overly complicated. Edit: See also Dr. Sten Ekberg’s YT video “What is Insulin Resistance?” He gives the same explanation as Dr. Fung, including that “the cell has too much sugar,” and this, along with the constant presence of insulin, is the cause of insulin resistance.

    • @realimagevanity2289
      @realimagevanity2289 2 года назад

      Actually insulin resistant or diabetic have too much glucose in blood but very low intercellular(inside actual cell) glucose than healthy people.

    • @realimagevanity2289
      @realimagevanity2289 2 года назад

      @@Danielle-nz9tn “But why was the insulin high in the first place?” That is a good question.
      But it’s not due to a high carbohydrate diet, I will guarantee you that. All credits goes to Sir Phillips Randle who discovered more than half century ago that glucose and fatty acids compete for oxidation in mitochondria. The problem with metabolic syndrome stems from diet of high carbohydrates and high fat diet which modern diet indulges frequently. at least in all vertebrates there is metabolic states of feast and fasting, and there is a robust ways that placed to regulates these states. In fasted states mitochondria mainly oxidized fats due to low glucose concentration in circulation and in fed state (carb based diet) mitochondria oxidized mostly glucose. Animals’ body oxidized different substrates, depending on their concentration in the circulation. Sadly modern diet is full of processed carbohydrates and fats which overwhelm circulation with fat and glucose, this immediately creates gridlocks in mitochondria. - Randle cycles says that fat and glucose competes each other for oxidation in mitochondria. Also when you gets metabolically sicker the tolerance of these mixed diet goes very low, due to damaged mitochondria. So, to make it short it’s not just carbohydrates or fat alone which causes insulin resistance but frequent combination of high carb and high fat diet which also damage mitochondria. So, what causes insulin high??? if you connect the above dots, it becomes easy to understand. when you jam mitochondria and can’t oxidized both glucose and fat as one should, then you will have high glucose and fat in circulation longer than it should, this triggers more and more insulin secretion to force push glucose and fat into cells, this also creates insulin resistance as a consequences.

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn 2 года назад +1

      @@realimagevanity2289 that quite lengthy explanation does not explain how multitudes of people have reversed insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes through a ketogenic diet that is HIGH IN FATS and low in carbs and through nutritional ketosis/fat burning due to fasting. The high fat diet obviously does not activate insulin and contribute to insulin resistance whereas a high carb diet does.

      cause you have too much insulin flooding your blood vessels. Also preventing fat burning. level of insulin increase through decades also lowering it take sometimes. don't give up start with few hours fasting and train your body to go longer believe me you will decrease your total insulin. infact fasting is the only natural solution to reverse insulin sensitivity.
