It's not a beautiful thought. No human being "completes" another. I do believe that Eartha Kitt sought to obliterate her blackness since it caused her so much pain growing up, and saw her Kitt, her blonde child, as what she would have wanted to be.

The problem is our “right on time” is what we would call his late-but you have to remember he holds all of eternity, and he sees all things in the scope of eternity-so yes He
is always right on time. It’s only a miracle if His time so happens to be also actually our time....But we might as well get comfortable knowing that things don’t happen in our time-they only happen in his time whether we like it or not. Kevin Gettis There are times during the interview that she pauses, as a result of being cut off mid-thought.
She also corrects her when the interviewer says, larger than life - she thought. Kitt says, she was.
Just because Kitt is a class act and continues to share her mother with the world, in this interview, doesn’t mean that the interviewer is without flaw.
Questioning techniques by an “investigator” and an interviewer of a social guest are very different. She could use more tact in trying to shape her interview at certain points.
You should avoid making overgeneralized statements about an entire group of people because it illegitimizes your argument and turns you in to the offender.

    • @kag5381
      @kag5381 5 лет назад +2

@@athenaa9787 I never said the interviewer is without flaw, however, in order to keep the continuity of the interview on point, sometimes the interviewer must interject or the interview will go on forever. You understand that interviews are planned and they have time limits, correct? When I interview people and they've made their points, often I must interject or interrupt in order to move the interview along. I didn't see where the interview was affected by the inteviewer's interruptions, but that's my subjective opinion.

I remember my mother sending me to the store to buy stockings .We lived in Newark. NJ. When my mother opened the package there was a picture of this beautiful brown woman on the cardboard that the stockings were wrapped around and I asked my mother who she was. My mother told me it was Eartha Kitt. This was 1954, I had never seen a Colored person (that is what we were called during that time) portrayed the way Eartha Kitt looked. I was in awe. I knew my mother was pretty, but she was mommy and didn't appear in stocking inserts. I asked lots of questions about Eartha Kitt and felt very proud that she was so glamorous. That was the beginning of my education that there were Negros that were more than what I had seen growing up in my neighborhood, which by the way was very diverse. Thank you Miss Kitt for educating me. I was a fan at age six from then on.

So glad I saw her in person 3x in San Francisco once at a nightclub I think on Polk St. and 2 x at the Timbuktu performance. At one performance of Timbuktu it was raining terribly hard during and after the performance. At the end of the show we were told to leave the theater and get on the street near the stage door. There were scores of people waiting to see her but she didn't know we were on the street. She found us standing outside in the wet, cold, weather and she threw a fit. She told the crew that we were her fans, she opened all the doors, and all of us stumbled back into the warm theater. She sure gave those workers a shellacking. Strangely, she remembered me from her nightclub act months before. She was the best live performer I have had the privilege to see and I've seen dozens. Bless you Ms Eartha.

Take Jess Hilarious for example she said something Xenophobic and racist about an Indian man wearing his traditional head gear when she was on a plane. But when it comes to predominantly black countries they can most definitely be systematically racism such as South Africa. They have something similar to affirmative action where only Black South Africans are benefiting from it and white South Africans are not. But that’s a whole different discussion seeing how everything played out with apartheid and everything.

I did see her in movie such as "Anna Lucasta", but I remember back in the day, I saw her onstage in Detroit, Michigan, in a Broadway Musical called "Timbuktu" Oh, my God, the entrance she made! There was a whole PARADE! Horn playing men, dancing girls, and all that for several minutes, but all these big beautiful, muscular black men, half-naked and in long floor length skirts with bared chests and gold paint smeared all over their bodies, came in CARRYING her and when she moved to get down, a man knelt ond the floor in front of her and she stepped down from the arms of those men to the back of the kneeling man, to the floor, swung her own long floor-length skirt around her, slid her leg out and said: "I'm HEERRE."
      And the audience went WILD!!!
It was the best entrance I had ever seen in my life and it is the only moment I really think of when I think of her. I just felt that that entrance was so worthy of the woman that she was. I thank God I had the opportunity to see her on stage.

It saddens me to say, but even if we we’re the same color...and we will be some day....we’d probably still find another stupid reason to divide ourselves. When will we evolve?

naya shams I don’t think you should use color blind because that would mean that you don’t see color but there are people of color, I think the better term would be “color aware”meaning that you acknowledge that someone is different and you treat the same as any other

The interviewer is condescending. On learning languages: How did she DO that ? (you know, as a black woman and all)

Oh come on. That is not what she was saying. She was saying how did she do that as something like that is impressive to do by ANY. I would be impressed if a little white woman who learned all those languages as well. Languages are not easy to learn, yet alone knowing MANY of them.

The interviewer was a little ignorant to me

Yes! She kept taking little jabs. "Of which YOU don't own the royalties to." Kitt corrects her and she says, "Oh good." How about, I apologize for my ignorance. Thanks for the correction.🌹

@@calibabii1106 That is because you misunderstood her. She wasnt saying it because she was black. She was saying it because of the odvious. It is impressive for ANYONE to learn all those languages on her own. Let me ask. Would it have been different if it was a black interviewer saying the exact same thing. I think there would be a whole lot of complaints if it was one of our own.

@M Lane The only thing this was was a misunderstanding. We (black people) tend to over analyze thing because of the race issues. Doesnt mean every situation is like that. If this was a black interviewer saying the EXACT same things they would have though nothing of it.
