It's sad that a lot of Black entertainer's had to move to Europe to get a way from racism. Josephine Baker and Nia Simone both moved for that same reason.

atlsong byrd Indeed...unfortunately...artists that we european reveared and perceived as an iconic part of contemporary american culture...that's why they were welcomed, praised and thrived here...although there's racism everywhere, we never quite understood why white America never fairly and justly treated these gifted people...All-true-americans even way before the civil rights movement and their full citizen rights were finally granted...sad...and still...nowadays white americans put them social segregation labels as the "african american" bull***...which is ultimately wrong, at least, for instance in Eartha's case...

      Really?
      Eartha Kitt on Bruce Springsteen:
"I think that Springsteen is playing into the hands of the enemy," she said. "I think that it is wrong for us to stand on a stage where people have paid to hear us sing or play an instrument and entertain them - it is the wrong place for politics. But if you ask me a question, if I was in the dressing room, I would give you an opinion.'
