    ---
Pesticide dusts are dry, ready-use pest control products that contain active ingredients mixed with fine, dry, inert carriers. When applied into cracks & crevices, air will carry dust deeper than other products can reach and coat all surfaces it comes in contact with. Because of this, dusts are one of the more effective formulations when used to treat crawling insect pests like cockroaches, fleas, bed bugs, or ants.
The dust creates a long-lasting barrier and will stick to pests as they crawl through. Dust works once it makes contact or the insect ingests the dust once it grooms itself. Different products will affect insects differently. For example, some dusts dehydrate pests or impair the insect’s nervous system. Dusts also have longer residuals than other products and can be used where liquids may cause damage, like around electronics.
While many dusts can be applied from their containers, it’s best to use a tool like a handheld duster. Some pesticide dusters use bulbs or bellows to blow dust into targeted areas. These dusters have long application spouts to get into hard-to-reach cracks, crevices, and wall voids. Some dusters can give you more control over how much dust is applied by holding the duster differently.
Some dusts are made to treat pests in gardens and landscaping, but they are most frequently used indoors to treat cracks & crevices. There are also dusts that can control fleas, lice, or external parasites on pets or livestock. Pesticide dusts should be used alongside liquids and baits to ensure the effectiveness of your control plan.
Read your product’s label thoroughly before application. Pay attention to the product’s labeled pests, approved application areas, and its application rates. The amount of dust you’ll output will depend on force applied when you squeeze the duster and the position the duster is held in. We recommend you practice with a non-toxic material like talcum powder to get used to using your duster.
Be sure to wear proper personal protective equipment to prevent direct contact or inhalation.
Open the duster’s body and fill no more than ⅔ of the way with your dust. This ensures there is enough air to mix with the dust before application.
Reseal the duster, and shake to ensure there are no clumps. Some dusters may include an object like a ball bearing that helps break up clumps.
If there is no ball bearing, you may use similar small objects to help stop clumping.
Remove the cap at the end of the applicator tip, and squeeze the bulb to apply a puff of dust.
Many crack & crevice applications need just one puff of dust to coat the area. The dust should only be a thin layer with even distribution.
Be careful not to overapply as insects may detect the chemical and avoid the treated space.
While some pesticide dusts can be used outdoors, be aware that certain weather conditions may blow or wash dust away.

The 8 legged creatures have been awful lately! 😳 I don't like them but I have a family member who is terrified. Hope I can figure out something that won't bother us or our pets!
