- The car everyone loves to hate, updated for 1980. This is the dealer "consumer presentation" for the Chevette featuring models, interior, powertrains and options. The "training" video is also found in this playlist, along with the other Chevy passenger cars for '80.

Ah yes, the standard features we expect, such as: foam seats, carpet, bumper rub strips, and balanced tires. >_>
In earlier times, inexpensive Chevrolets often had only upholstery directly over coil springs...without foam padding. And chrome bumpers without black rubber strips were typical. Carpeting was often not found in cheaper cars...only a vinyl floor mat. So there is nothing to mock about here.
No padding? Ouch!!
I'm glad someone else latched on to those selling points
Hey!!!!! Don't you forget that they are "foam cushioned" as opposed to .... Idk maybe.... Paper towels??? You don't get in every car, just 99.9% of others cars... 🙄🙄
@@SpockvsMcCoy I'll mock it all I want. >:(
Chevy's OTHER 'Vette!!!!!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂It became a subject of a common joke: A kid misled a girl into thinking that he owned a Corvette. To her dismay, that girl soon found out that she was about to ride in a... Chevette.
A friend of a friend did that ALL the time with his, @@nicolasdefranco7179!!!!!
When bumper guards and balancing tires are selling points you know you don't have anything special. These were the 1980s
Did anyone buy the door-mounted seat belts while they were an option? They were common later on when the govt allowed them as a way for automakers to cheap out on airbags but in 1980 you either ignored seat belts or wanted ones that weren't so dependent on the door latch holding.
Our second family car when I was in high school was a 1978 Chevette 4-Door...bright red like the 1980 model shown here. Except the interior on our car was the Custom trim level with white vinyl upholstery/door cards and black accents (carpeting and instrument panel). This 1980 model has the same vaned wheelcovers and sport mirrors, too. Our car also had AC and automatic transmission.
how slow was it?
I bet it had better ac than today's American cars.
@@elonmust7470 the Chevette was an American car!😂
My father tried to get me to buy one of these for my 1st car. I opted for a Buick LeSabre instead. I wouldn't be caught dead in a Chevette.
The scooter must have been absolutely miserable to drive with no noise insulation 🤣
What exactly would a scooter have as standard equipment? Tires? Seats? Perhaps a key?
@@operator91210 the passenger seat was probably extra! Lmaooo
GM. Love 💟
I had two of them. Brakes you had to stand on, over heated it with a broken belt, drove the pos home anyway, steaming like mad, put a new belt on it the next day, and away it went, no issue
This is where the Chevy Sonic evolved from!
Chevrolet Spark
Chevrolet Sprint
And the steering column juts out to the right. No mistake there.
I had 3, '81,'84 and '85
Replacement for Vega, which was also palmed off as advanced design. Chevette was better i think but imports were so far ahead in engineering and durability.
Hot, fresh and ready to eat. Scrumptious!
The first time I made $1k profit on a car was a Chevette 😊
I bet bicycles would pass this when the A/C was being used.
Only thing the inspectors looking for is an excuse 2 get off work before the liquor store closes
Except on scooter brah 😐
My parents purchased a new 4-door Chevette in 1980. It was a piece of shit. A comparable Toyota or Honda at the time was far superior.
