    I miss my Chevette.
My dad had a mid 80's 2 door S model with a 5 speed manual. I had a regular 4 door automatic. I'd be happy with any Chevette now. But I really want one like my dad had

The Chevrolet Chevette was a fantastic little car for American citizens and anyone who cared to buy one. I own two in my lifetime. 1979 two door brown with 4 speed manual transmission. And final year in 1987. Four door automatic with air conditioning am & fm radio Cass. Thank you GM for making a cute and beautiful little car. 💗

I own a 1982 Hatchback 1.6 5-shift model made in Brazil. It's such a great car for people who like dependable cars.

The Chevette was the standard of the world. Especially the Chevette SS 1-LE with supercharged 350 ci V8, Bilstein dampers, multilink suspension, Brembo brakes, forged 15x7 wheels, TRX tires, and Recaro seats. The Chevette SS 1-LE was so good it forced BMW to develop the M3. Okay nothing I just said is remotely true.

Say what you want but back in the day every other car on the road was a chevette..The best car ever made as dependable transportation..Economical..Sure they were ugly..Everyone either had one or knew someone who did and you will never find anyone who had one say it was a dawg..It was many peoples first car..They were cheap but tough as nails

Must have been a promotional film for dealers and salesmen due to it's length. Made in USA but I saw two at a PICK A PART in the foreign car section. Maybe with time we will reevaluate having a small car vs monster SUV's.

      Actually with a manual trans
      Chevettes are plenty fast
and with a 3 speed auto
      not so bad either. They
      handle like they're on rails,
      they're easy to repair and
insure, and they had a low
      sticker price.

Ironic the music sounds like a 80's porno since you could not get laid in this car. The acceleration segment must have filmed on a downhill run! I miss my 82 Chevette after owning a Daewoo Lanos.

Bull crap. I had one, and had a lot of attention from women my age at the time. Also, had a Cavalier RS, and that car did not get any attention when I drove it. I had the Chevette S which was the sport model. That car was a chick magnet.

HOW??! They're non interference engines... If the belt breaks it just stops running until you replace the belt.

That's a lack of proper maintenance on your part in my opinion. I've owned multiple vette's and they were awesome. Had a '80 & currently have an '82.

timing belt was due at 60,000. my 81 T1000 did the same thing. install a belt and go. non interference engine

      I still have a 2door 4speed manual
      w/rebuilt 1.6 ltr, repainted black
Chevette. I can hang out with
      the mechanic while he's replacing
the timing belt over an hour or
2 depending on how quick he
feels like working. It's so much
      easier than timing belts now.
The heater core can be replaced
by a good mechanic in minutes.
All I can say about the Chevette
now is, I wish I could get a brand
new 1 of them with power nothing,
      no ac, 2door, 1.6 gas, a tachometer,
and a 5 or 4 speed manual, with
all parts available. I'd rather have
what was just described than a
new Ferrari. (Let's say no selling
and pocketing the cash from the
sale of a new Ferrari allowed - it
would be my only car to drive,
      maintain and insure. Yikes.)
