Wave bye bye to all that cool stuff. Gm is worldwide now. Expect alot of imitation smrt cars and prius like vehicles. Corvette is still around, for 80k....
GM, as a whole, NAILED it with these cars!!!!!! The brochures for the '77 Caprice/Impala & Delta 88, in particular, stated "We made it right for the times without making it wrong for the people", & "The family car that didn't forget the family", respectively. Both were bang-on!!!!!
Are we allowed to watch this? It starts with a notice saying - For Chevrolet Sales Persons Only 😉 On a serious note, I was really surprised to see as far back as 1980 they were recommending 35 PSI for the tires.
Notice that the front seatbelts and automatic transmission in this 1980 Caprice is different that the one in the Caprices that were available for that year.
Cool ! I am hoping GM brings these two models back into production in the near future. I hope full-sized RWD/AWD sedans and wagons make a comeback even as a hybrid version .
Don't get me wrong, this is one of my favorite American cars of all time, but I still have to laugh when he points out all the 'aerodynamic' features while the car is literally composed of a series of perfect squares and rectangles....LOL
Same here. Any GM B-body from this era and Ford's Panther platform, Town Car, Grand Marquis, Crown Vics, all solid soldiers. I'd love to have any of them.
hi and good morning Cory Heisterkamp I'm a new subscriber as I don't have hearing I was wondering if you could please turn on the caption yes I ready tryed to turn it on on my phone it said caption not available so that is why I'm asking well you have a very good day Cory Heisterkamp :-)
@@freddyhoyt1849 hi and good morning Freddy Hoyt and thank you for you're text and kind words I hope it works out for me to and you have very good day Freddy Hoyt :-)
The Iranian Revolution in Spring 1979 caused gasoline prices to soar for a second time in the 1970s. Add high inflation and high interest rates...and the big American cars were no longer the most popular vehicles. Baby boomers who were now buying new cars around 1980 weren't interested in full-size cars...but smaller mid-size cars were more popular than ever. Starting in 1980, new full-size cars were aimed at older couples and were no longer popular with younger families. The 1980 Chevrolet may have gotten a new look...but sales slid compared to the 1979 model year.
The Caprice and Caprice Classic became an icon of American culture during the 1980s. I think GM should bring that beautiful box back.

I found the '74 Caprice to be one of the finest model years.
4:46 “ten pounds light than last years spare” Grunts pulling out lighter spare tire. 😂😂
I once had an 86 Caprice Classic that just looked like that Impala with a replacement L69 305 V8. That was a FUN car.
I learned to drive on my dads 84 Landau Coupe
Thank you for the upload
We had a new 81 Impala, and new 84 and 85 caprices. They were mostly good.
3:12 ....the driver's seat is moved forward to the maximum (b-pillar)... vs ... 2:42 ...

Were was GM mark of excellence!!!
Greatest cars EVER!
I remember sleeping on the rear deck of this car on long family road trips and peeling our thighs off the hot vinyl seats when we wore shorts.
You really smell bad
Must have been a comfortable ride.

You can also burn out the tires good.
Aerodynamic lol. It's a box, a big square box. Yet these cars are great. They are well built, and are still around 40+ years later.

I noticed he doesn't fully close those doors when sitting inside. Must've been too loud.
I loved those GM cars but they sure had a way of talking up a hunk of solid metal like it was a sleek spaceship or something 😂
Get into one of those 80s gm cars and see how they used to be the best of the best.

wow,, can't believe my 1980 caprice coupe was a luxury car.. Now is A Mad Max junker,,,
Weird how guy put hand put in seat like come ride with me look..
I’ll take 1979 over 1980 , whatever the size or color.
I’m sure the “cash for clunkers” program sucked up a ton on these old classics
Yeah thanks to that clown obama !
nah it was the rust belt. It's always the rust belt. Cash for clunkers was for mid to late 90s cars.
the best part you could tow 5000 pounds if i remember
