I love that you came up with different books! I need to live the cottage core dream for a while and read some of these! Also it’s so funny what you said about mushrooms, because so many real mushrooms aren’t as cute as cottagecore depictions!
that is such a good point! I saw that netflix is releasing a documentary all about mushrooms and I am honestly way too excited
adding to this amazing list: Undomestic Goddess by Sophia Kinsella (Shopaholic series anyone?). Samantha is a laywer based in London and she is very much obsessed with her job. But then a thing happens and she flees to Cottswolds where she accidentally becomes a maid. The story is full of English countriside, cooking/baking, gardening.. plus the humor!! If you're looking for a mash up between cottagecore and love story, I highly recommend!

I doubt cottage core is taking hints from Mario Bros. But I do think mushrooms are considered a very woodland feature, and the nature of the forest is closely connected to the cottage core aesthetic.

I feel that "The keeper of lost things" by Roth Hogan is a cottagecore book since it centers around this old house one of the main characters gets that is filled with things that has been lost by other people. I would definitely recommend it
