Foxenwood also makes me think about the house in The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches with the peaceful tea, light magic and found family cozy ambiance 🦊
My recommendations list: -Badass set of characters: The Best Bad Things by Katrina Carrasco a spy/gumshoe novel starring a female protagonist -Cozy Mystery: Finding Fortune by Delia Ray. It is middle grade, but it is so cozy and fun -Too scary to read: Literally could not even pick up My Best Friend's Exorcism, so I guess it fits the bill lol -Makes you cry like a baby: Song of Achilles. 100%. Even thinking about it now is making me misty-eyed -Exciting travel vibes: The Hobbit or The Dragonlance series, starting with Dragons of Autumn Twilight. They are traveling adventures, but both are the first I pictured for this prompt -Spooky: The Glass Witch (middle grade, just tips over into spooky) or Our Shadows Have Claws (YA and above for stronger spooky short stories) -A book like All too Well: Pride and Prejudice for a classic or Blindsided by Amy Daws. I've not seen the video by T.Swift, but based on your description, that's what I'd recommend. Blindsided is literally red heads, romance, a little toxic at times, and smut for the fun of it -Grumpy Sunshine trope: House in the Cerulean Sea. I know it isn't exactly the prompt, but there is a bit of that sunshine and grump aesthetic -Feels like a warm cuppa tea: Legends and Lattes. Absolutely perfect -Stranger Things vibes: agree with your assessment of My Best Friend's Exorcism. Nothing can top that lol -Good for a quiet early morning with coffee: How Do You Live? by Genzaburo Yoshino. If you are a fan of Miyazaki (studio Ghibli), this was his favorite book growing up, and it's easy to see why. This book romanticizes everyday moments we often take for granted. This book is a clear inspiration for the Ghibli animation studio styles. It must have been a heavy influence -To get out of a reading slump: Stardust by Neil Gaiman, either hard copy or audiobook. Or any audiobook. Many of us booklovers feel guilty listening to books, but if you put on something, hear those voices, you get pulled into a story. Sometimes, it is all you need to break through and find the time/energy/passion again -Nostalgic: Alice in Wonderland or the Harry Potter series OR the Redwall series by Brian Jacques -As magical as Harry Potter and Nevermoor: The Train to Impossible Places series. Really fun characters, fast-paced middle grade, great for whole family -Gothic romance: Jane Eyre. It's a classic, but there is a reason -Character driven: A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet or Piranesi. Different vibes. If you like more sci-fi, go with A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet. If you like fantasy/mystery, Piranesi might be for you -Mixes mystery and humor: Almost Super by Marion Jensen. It is middle grade. It is silly. Our whole family was laughing while we tried to solve the book for ourselves. Very cute and lighthearted -Mermaid vibes/cover: Sea Witch by Sarah Henning (Ursula's side of things) -Multigenerational: If by that, you mean the whole family can enjoy, I'd say A Series of Unfortunate Events -Stockholm syndrome but make it sexy: A Curse so Dark and Lonely (Cursebreaker Series) by Brigid Kemmerer -Feels like spring/new beginnings: Heartstopper series for quick love story or Emma for something longer. (To add to it, my Emma cover is stunning and looks like spring) -Housewife Murder: The Poison Keeper by Deborah Swift (Italy's aqua tofana killer) -Graphic novel with breathtaking artwork: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind for YA and higher (classic Miyazaki art styles with sprawling scenes) or the Hilda series for Middle grade and higher (the art is breathtakingly whimsical) -Has a fashionable character: A Blade so Black (book one of the Nightmare-verse series). Every character seems to be described so fashionable. Especially Alice and the Hatter -Feels like a beach vacay: Beach Read of course! or Flat Share. I always think of quick romance books as the perfect beach vacation book. Both a fast-paced, cute, and fun -Set on Cape Cod: na -Black love: The Neighbor Favor by Kristina Forest -Set in a Cottagecore world, magical elements, sweet romance: The Tea Dragon Society. SO CUTE! -Fairies: na -Foxenwood feels: League of Gentlewomen Witches or The Mysterious Benedict Society -Features art: The Empress of Art by Susan Jaques a very fun and detailed book on Catherine the Great and her deep art collection If you made it this far, and you'd like me to elaborate on any of my listed titles, let me know! I am happy to explain. Happy Reading!
These are some of my favorite videos! I love getting new recommendations that aren't normal on social media or overly hyped!! Thank you for the new books to add to my TBR
Nice video :) You should do a video where you do blind picks from all your unread tbr and then do a weekend or week long readathon from the blind picks. Maybe include like some thrift shopping, picnics and or nature walks etc.... I think that would be so fun to see and you would knock off some of the back list tbr :)
as soon as you said "i read a book that did all the things it was meant to do, but was too scary for me" i immediately was like oh that's how i feel about IM THINKING OF ENDING THINGS but that's probably not what she's talking about because i have never heard anyone else describe it in that way, but then you said it and i felt so seen and heard lol
For both the prompts "it feels like spring" and "cottagecore with magic and a cute romance", I highly highly recommend Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, it has nature based magic, beautiful nature descriptions and writing, a found family, a very cute and sweet romance, the main character is a princess, who had her place forcibly taken by her servant, so she goes and gets a job as a goose girl for the king and lives in a small cottage going out to the field every day talking to geese. It's a really beautiful book
Definitely adding a few of these to look into! "The Marvellers" is really good and definitely is a good one for that request. My own personal recommendation for graphic novel with breathtaking artwork is "W.I.T.C.H.", by Elisabetta Gnone, Alessandro Barbucci, and Barbara Canepa. Also, I don't know much about cottage core, but from what I do know and as someone who's currently reading "A Far Wilder Magic" I'm not quite sure it will fit the vibes of the request. It definitely primarily takes place out in the countryside of their world, but the story is a lot darker and contains more serious themes than what the blurb tells. I'd more recommend the manga "Snow White with the Red Hair," if you want something a little lighter.
Great Video Lexi and I absolutely loved Stolen 🦋 It was so fascinating and I already have the sequel and can’t wait to dive into it after I finish Anastasia by Sophie Lark which btw Is So Good You Will Love It Lexi 📖🥰🥰
Hey Lex! I am sitting here watching your old videos while working remote for my job, and I had a thought. I know you moved, but if you are still in Chattanooga, I think there are many of us who would love you to do a video of your favorite restaurants, coffee shops (I know you usually mention a couple in vlogs), book stores, good places to read, the Chattanooga market, etc. My mom and I have talked about doing a weekend up there (we are in NC), and I think a lot of us on here would LOVE a vlog tour! Just a thought. I hope you have a lovely day!!💚
oh my god!! never knew that the school for good and evil was gonna make it to the list this way. i just completed reading all the 6 books of this series and i am awestruck. so damn comfy. although the story kind of starts deviating from the 4th book itself, yet, i find this to be like a long warm hug. grateful. xoxo❤️
I would love to have you in my back pocket when I do my TBR game to pick my reads for each month. I pick a card that tells me what kind of book to find but so far Feb would be the second month in a row that I had dnfs after dnfs
If you're looking for a book that features/talks about art, I'd highly recommend I'll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. I know that not everyone enjoyed this book, but I thought it was very beautiful. The writing style is very metaphorical and literally makes it feel like you're stepping into a painting. It's about many different kinds of love (between twins, a boy and a girl, 2 boys, a family, and also abt the love for art), and it also talks about grief, belief and being true to yourself. Very beautiful.
I discovered your videos a few days ago and I can't stop watching! I love all of your recommendations and now my TBR is a million times longer than what it was (not that that is a bad thing). Also i am obsessed with your bookshelves!! I look forward to watching more from you!!

Oh The Hacienda was super spooky!! Loved that one! One Day was so amazing, that made me cry like a little baby! Leaving a green heart even though I am using my laptop lol!
The Hacienda was indeed spooky. I also thought The Silent Companions by Laura Purcell and What Moves the Dead by T. Kingfisher would have been good choices.
What a fun time as always! Thank you for the excellent recommendations. I immediately raced off to purchase Janet Hills book! It looks so beautiful, and I can’t wait! 🦊💚🦊
I knew immediately which book you were going to pick for “too scary to read” - I will forever recommend I’m thinking of ending things!!! terrifying, but the most engaging book I’ve ever read!!
So excited to get through these 😃 may be I will try this idea too , but.d.w I wanted to tell you I read the book - Every heart a doorway and absolutely loved the writing style ❤️
My local library is going to love you! I watch these videos with my Goodreads, and Amazon, open in another tab, but I have been putting in a ton of recommendations to my library to save my wallet now too lol So far, they have loved your recommendations because they have approved the requests that I have made 💚🦊
Graphic novel with stunning art: In Waves. Made me cry. Also taught me about surfing. Multigenerational book: Homegoing. I usually don’t read such heavy adult books but this weaving of hundreds of years of one family in Africa was incredible.
"Stolen" by Lucy Christopher is one of my all time favourite books. You know those books that you read & it just leaves an impression on you for a while afterwards? This was one of them books for me
For feels like spring/new beginnings I immediately thought of The Secret Garden. For a book about artists/creatives - Just Kids by Patti Smith Great video!
actually I read “song of achillies” and it didn’t make me cry. I despised the book. you know what was a good book to cry to? “A court of silver flames” was the best book and it was emotional. ilyyyyy ❤
I've spent the entire day binging your videos...so happy that this new video is out. I'm hooked to your channel❤️ Please review the hichhhikers guide to the galaxy. Wanna know your opinion of the book
For me The Neverending Story was a very enchanting movie. I had absolutely no idea that it was a real actual book. I was ten (the perfect age!) when I watched the movie and I watched it ten times in a row. To say it was impactful would be a gross understatement. When I was in college I was waiting on my fiance to finish a meeting that took place at a library and in a town that I didn't live in--I was wandering the stacks when I came across The Neverending Story, the book. I was astounded. And naturally sat right down and read it! To be honest, I prefer the movie but I'll always remember my astonishment and delight over stumbling onto the book.
A book that features art that I really enjoyed was Sacre Bleu by Christopher Moore. And a book that feels like spring and a new beginning, I immediately thought of The Secret Garden.
💚 Just finished Half A Soul by Olivia Atwater (as recommended by you on a previous video), and I’m obsessed! I loved it. Can you recommend anything else that has similar vibes? Thanks x
I am really really sorry about missing your last few videos as I have had a heart attack so I’m looking forward to seeing your other amazing videos prayers and thoughts for you and your family love your family friend John ❤❤❤
Omg John are you okay now???? I’m so sorry omg I’m sending lots and lots of positive vibes! Your comments always brighten my day and I’m genuinely worried now are you alright??
@@alexandraroselyn getting better slowly and thank you for your amazing and positive vibes as it means a lot to me so thank you 🙏 from the bottom of my heart ❣
Good morning lexi!! Love the video as usual. ❤House of hunger, can't spell tea without treason, the marvellors, the mermaid one. Omg right when I said I wouldn't buy any more books...even my mailman judges me(he's like "another book huh")🤣🤣
I think you should count all your books. I loved to know how many you've read to how many you haven't yet. It's not a slam to what you haven't read. I'm just genuinely curious how many books you have and how many you've read. 😊
I can recommend Susan Vreeland for books centered around real art/artists (historical fiction). I have read The Luncheon of the Boating Party, The Girl in Hyacinth Blue, The Passion of Artemisia, and The Forest Lover and have enjoyed them all.
Thank you for another wonderful video 💚 Now a question... Recommend me a book that's like the Lockwood and Co series. I've just finished it (may have read all five books in about two weeks) and now can't move on to anything else because they were so good.
Ooooo!!!! Okay! I haven’t read the series yet but I’ve seen the trailer and you might possibly like Constable and Toop which is a book about a ghost detective who teams up with a kid to solve a ghost mystery- similar vibes! Orrrr you could try one of my favorite books The Graveyard Book!!
Winterhouse by Ben Guterson, The Awakening by Michael Carroll, Winterborne Home of Vengeance and Valor by Ally Carter, The Vindico by Wesley King, Convergence by Stan Lee, House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo, Dead City by James Ponti
Many of these books are in my tbr, loved them! tho can u recommend me a book like The house in the cerulean sea, apart from under the whispering door, a book that feels like a warm hug. 💚💚💚
Lex did a haunted reading vlog a couple years ago but it’s middle grade books. Highly recommend watching if you haven’t but two of the books were “City of Ghosts” and “Tunnel of Bones” by V.E. Schwab (who I love and discovered through Lexi). Another one that sounded good was called “Dead Voices” by Catherine Arden. It is the second in a series but you do not have to read the first to read this one.
Foxenwood also makes me think about the house in The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches with the peaceful tea, light magic and found family cozy ambiance 🦊
Yes!! I totally agree! ❤❤
As soon as Lexi said "grumpy sunshine" this book shot into my mind 😍🦊

Good morning lexi!! Love the video as usual. ❤House of hunger, can't spell tea without treason, the marvellors, the mermaid one. Omg right when I said I wouldn't buy any more books...even my mailman judges me(he's like "another book huh")🤣🤣
Hahahaha this is so me when I watch booktube videos too!! 😊❤️❤️❤️
💚 awesome recommendations!! Have a great day!
This was again a great and enjoyable video like only you can make them. Thank you 💚
☁️☁️so happy to hear from you again!
😊❤❤❤
I’ve been obsessing over your necklace in your videos lately! Where did you get it??
The Hacienda was awesome!
Loved the recs! 💚
I think you should count all your books. I loved to know how many you've read to how many you haven't yet. It's not a slam to what you haven't read. I'm just genuinely curious how many books you have and how many you've read. 😊
I would love a recommendation for a book that ripped your heart out and stomped on it, and you thanked it for it.
The Best of Me by Nicholas Sparks
Are you planning on participating in Muddle Grade March this year?
Another Harry Potter/Nevermore-esc rec would be the Keeper of the Lost Cities series by Shannon Messenger ❤😊
Came for the recs, stayed because it was just as fun to try to guess what you'd recommend ❤
So many good recos 💚💚💚🌿🫶🏻
@@alexandraroselyn Thank you! :) I loved the Graveyard Book. And I will definitely look into Constable and Toop.
💚💚💚Loved this video!
So enjoyed this video!!
💚I love all these recommendations, definitely going to read them!
Your necklace is beautiful! Love your videos!
Thank you!!!
Many of these books are in my tbr, loved them!
tho can u recommend me a book like The house in the cerulean sea, apart from under the whispering door, a book that feels like a warm hug. 💚💚💚
I thought The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches had a similar vibe - great book in any case
@@MLLatUtube Ohh Thankuuu, now I'm only encouraged more to read that book! 💖
Where do you get your busts that are on your shelves?
Home Goods!!!
I recently read The Dead Romantics and now I’m on the search for another cozy ghost book. Any recommendations? 🖤
@@booksbeanies5425 Thank you!!! I will have to check out that video for sure.
So many great recs! I adored Emily Wildes Encyclopaedia of Faries, so lovely ♡
Sirens and Muses is a book I want to get💚
Great recommendations, Lexi! 💚💚💚
I’m looking for academia type of books. Last year I read the Ivies by Alexa Donne and I want something that feels like that.
